A group of friends decided to go on a hiking trip in the mountains. There was a boy named Alex among them. They were all excited about the adventure, because they had never been hiking before. But they also knew that hiking in the mountains could be full of unexpected situations, just like the stories of mountain climbing accidents they had heard.
As they started their journey, the weather was perfect, with a clear blue sky and a gentle breeze. They walked along a narrow path (小径), surrounded by beautiful trees and colourful flowers. However, as they got deeper into the mountains, the weather suddenly changed. Dark clouds gathered, and it started to rain heavily.
Alex had some basic knowledge of outdoor survival (生存). He suggested they find a shelter. They quickly looked around and found a small cave. Inside the cave, they tried to keep warm and dry. While waiting for the rain to stop, they shared their food and stories.
After a few hours, the rain finally stopped. They continued their journey, but they soon realised that they had lost their way. Alex used his compass and map to try to find the right direction. With his efforts and the support of his friends, they finally found the main path again.

Rob had problems with bullies at school for eleven years. He was often scared and tired. When he was fifteen, however, he decided to do something about his problems. He walked into a newspaper office and told them about the bullying. His story went into the newspaper and soon all the TV stations in Canada wanted to talk to him about his experiences.
After that, Rob continued his studies at school, but in his free time he helped other people with bullying problems. With a friend Katie, he made a website called www.bullyingcanada.ca. People on the website can find advice, stories and poems about bullying, in both English and French. When people are upset, they can talk on the phone or online to Rob and his team. Every weekend Rob has to answer emails from the website. He also speaks to children, teachers and members of government (政府) around the country about bullying.
Rob’s most important message is “When bullies are unkind to you, it isn’t your fault. There’s nothing wrong with you, so you should try to keep trusting yourself. And remember that there are people caring about your problems. You just have to find those people.”
One of Rob’s ideas is “Blue Day”, a special day for stopping bullying in schools. Students have to wear blue clothes and in class they learn how to stop bullying. More than 150 Canadian schools now celebrate Blue Day, but Rob won’t stop until there’s a Blue Day in every school in Canada.

My name is Lin Tao. I’m in Grade Eight. Recently, our school held a career talk and I was very interested in it. After the talk, I have a clear career dream—I want to be a computer engineer.
I like computers very much. I often spend my free time learning computer knowledge and playing computer games. I’m good at math and science, which are very important for a computer engineer. My computer teacher said that I have a talent for computer learning and he encouraged me to stick to my dream.
To be a good computer engineer, I know I need to face many growing pains and work hard to overcome them. First, I need to improve my English, because many computer books and materials are in English. I used to be weak in English, so I read English articles every morning and do more exercises after school. Now my English has improved a lot. Second, I need to learn more computer skills. I take a computer course on weekends and I practice programming (编程) every day. Sometimes I can’t work out a programming problem and I feel upset, but I never give up. I ask my computer teacher for help and keep trying until I solve it.
Through these efforts, I have got a lot of gains. I have become more hard-working and patient. I also learn that no dream is too big and no effort is too small.
根据“a small cat stuck in a tree”和“was meowing loudly”可知小猫被困在树上且大声喵喵叫可知,它的情绪是十分害怕afraid的;bored无聊的,excited兴奋的;shy害羞的;均不符合被困求救的状态。
根据“looked around to find a wooden stick”和“there was nothing”可知是转折关系,需要使用转折连词but;so表因果;or表选择/否则;as表时间/原因,均不符合此处逻辑。
根据“made sure it had a warm place to sleep and something to eat”说明小猫需要的是食物food和照顾。
根据“Whiskers was always near the window”和“She realized it might want to play outside”说明小猫的动作是looking outside“望着外面”,这是描述动物渴望外出的常见表达。
根据“she might lose it forever”可知艾玛是担心会永远失去它,对应的心情是紧张不安的nervous。
前文Emma and Whiskers became friends.
In person亲自;In silence沉默地;In hurry匆忙地;均无法体现故事发展到最终阶段的含义。
working out锻炼;dropping by顺便拜访;showing up出现;均与主题无关。

16.文中第一段提到“They were all excited about the adventure, because they had never been hiking before”,明确说明了他们兴奋是因为之前从未徒步旅行过。
17.根据文章第二段“However, as they got deeper into the mountains, the weather suddenly changed. Dark clouds gathered, and it started to rain heavily.”
18.根据第四段“Alex used his compass and map to try to find the right direction.”
19.根据文章最后一段“They learnt the importance of being prepared, helping each other and staying calm in difficult situations.”,这直接说明了他们学到的内容。

20.文中第一段提到“Rob had problems with bullies at school for eleven years. He was often scared and tired.”,说明在十五岁之前,Rob因为在学校遭受欺凌,经常感到害怕和疲惫,整体是不开心的。
21.第二段“With a friend Katie, he made a website called http://www.bullyingcanada.ca. People on the website can find advice, stories and poems about bullying, in both English and French.”
22.第三段中Rob说“And remember that there are people caring about your problems. You just have to find those people.”,结合前文他帮助有欺凌问题的人,可知“those people”指的是那些帮助他人解决欺凌问题的人。
23.首先“Rob had problems with bullies at school for eleven years.”表明有人在学校欺负Rob,即b事件;然后“When he was fifteen, however, he decided to do something about his problems. He walked into a newspaper office and told them about the bullying.”说明Rob公开讲述了自己的故事,即d事件;接着“With a friend Katie, he made a website called http://www.bullyingcanada.ca.”说明Rob和他的朋友创建了网站,即a事件;最后“One of Rob’s ideas is ‘Blue Day’, a special day for stopping bullying in schools.”

You also have to be a scientist, for example, or be able to dive under sea ice, or spend maybe several days in a tree.”,
26.第四段中“It is now harder to work for magazines. Technology makes it easy to take good pictures, which means there are more photos and photographers. Also, the internet is filled with photos from all around the world that are free, or cost very little. These photos are often good enough to be published in books and magazines.”,Joel Sartore在回答中提到两个原因,一是科技使拍好照片更容易,照片和摄影师增多;二是互联网上有很多免费或低价且质量不错的照片。
27.最后一段中“There is something to photograph everywhere.”,意思是在任何地方都有可以拍摄的东西,也就是到处都有美可以捕捉,与A选项“There is beauty everywhere.”
28.第三段中“To get into National Geographic, you have to give them something they don’t have. It is not enough just to be a great photographer. You also have to be a scientist, for example, or be able to dive under sea ice, or spend maybe several days in a tree.”,说明进入《国家地理》的摄影师要有特殊技能,A选项中Marina擅长科学和潜水符合要求。

34.advises
