When I was 13, Jim planned my practice against grown men. We played matches at the tennis center all the time. One night I 6 myself winning against everyone, no matter how much older. And I was expecting a high five or even 7 from Jim, but he just shook his head. “You can’t play like that,” he said. “You can’t walk or talk like you’re 8 .”
But such important messages take time to understand. I was playing a match against a boy who I knew I could beat. We were tied(平局) and I was 9 at this. I threw my racket down hard to the floor-and then I heard Jim shout, “Stop!”
He walked onto the court and pulled me out. “Why are you so angry ”
“I should be beating this kid.” I cried.
“You never should beat anyone! You can’t just walk on the court thinking you’re going to clean the floor. You have to be a better person than that!”
Now I began winning more quickly and often, and Jim kept holding me back from focusing on rankings(排名) and points. I could always learn from tennis or Jim’s practice, 10 I won or lost.

AI (Artificial Intelligence) is changing many parts of our lives. It refers to the ability of machines, especially computer systems, to do tasks that usually need human intelligence. Let’s look at how it’s used in different areas.

When I was 13, I knocked over Grandma’s favorite white vase while cleaning the shelf. It was broken into pieces. My heart raced with fear because I knew this vase had been in our family for years. Too scared to tell the truth, I quickly put the broken pieces together and hid them under the rose bushes in the backyard.
In the following days, I avoided Grandma’s kind eyes. Every time she entered the room, I pretended to be busy studying. Days passed and on my 14th birthday, Grandma handed me a gift which was wrapped in yellow paper. Inside was the same vase--but now it had golden lines running across it like rivers of light. “I found the pieces last month,” she smiled. “I used special gold glue to fix it. See The cracks(裂缝) don’t hide our mistakes. They make the vase stronger and more beautiful.”
I placed the vase on my desk. Every morning, the golden lines reminded me that mistakes aren’t disasters but are chances to learn and grow. Grandma’s words stayed with me, teaching me an important lesson about life.
One day, a few months later, my cousin Paul dropped by. We played games in my room and he knocked over the vase by accident. A small piece chipped off. He felt like crying. “Don’t worry,” I said to him, “Let’s fix it together!” We used Grandma’s gold glue to repair the new crack. And then, one more golden line appeared on the vase. The lines were shining, creating a beautiful pattern on the vase.
Perfect things stay the same forever, but repaired ones grow new stories. Our vase isn’t just a decoration—it’s a map of our family’s courage to face mistakes and grow stronger.

Do you know that over 1/3 of all food produced in the world goes to waste According to the United Nations (UN), every year around the world, about one billion tons of food is wasted. At the same time, there are about one billion people who are in great hunger. Simply 1/4 of the food wasted is enough to keep them out of hunger. In addition, the wasted food produces over three billion tons of carbon dioxide (CO2), which speeds up climate(气候) change. What can we do to solve this food waste problem
One effective solution is balancing food production with demand(需求). In hotels and other similar places, special instruments should be used so that cooks just prepare and cook food as it is ordered.
Another effective solution is starting programs to reduce food waste. Stores and buyers can try their best to be creative in food waste reduction. For example, stores can show customers instructions telling them how to make full use of food. Buyers can try not fixing their eyes only on food of the best quality(质量). Sometimes, the food of non-top quality is also good enough to eat, or can be bought and then used to make delicious dishes.
One of the hardest solutions to achieve is for each and every one to buy and prepare food with a plan of their own so that less food is wasted. Challenging as it is, the use of meal plans in preparing food can play an important role in ending food waste in the family.
Food recycling is one of the known solutions. Efforts are now already in progress. Food that is not safe for humans to eat is recycled into other products such as animal food and clothing. Yet, there is still a long way to go and much for improvement in this area.
In a word, food waste has been one of the biggest problems in the world that have influenced us greatly. Many solutions have been found and many more are yet to be worked out. If each of us can put in more efforts, food waste is sure to be reduced for the good of our future.

This term, we have five more minutes for break time. During the longer break time, I can do more sports and have a full rest. I often play badminton with my classmates on the playground, which lets me exercise my body and breathe fresh air. Sometimes I also chat with friends or read a few pages of my favorite books to relax.
These longer breaks bring great changes to me. Sports make me stronger and more energetic, so I can focus more carefully in the following classes. A good rest also helps me stay in a good mood and get along better with my classmates.
I really love this change. It not only makes my school life more colorful but also helps me keep a balance between study and relaxation. I truly hope this longer break time can always stay with us.
