More and more people in Jiangsu are taking up running. Marathons have become very popular. Here are three great ones.
Suzhou Marathon usually takes place in early April. The full 42-kilometer course runs past classical gardens such as the Humble Administrator’s Garden(拙政园) and along Jinji Lake. The road is mostly flat, so it is a good choice for beginners. Besides the full marathon, there are also half marathon and mini marathon(about 5 kilometers). The city also sets up many water stations along the way, and volunteers are very helpful.
Wuxi Marathon is held in late March, when cherry blossoms(樱花) are in full flower. The way goes around Taihu Lake, offering beautiful lake and mountain views. Many runners call it the most scenic marathon in China. Free drinks and snacks are provided every 2.5 kilometers. The race is known for its careful organization — for example, each runner gets a bag with local snacks after finishing. The Wuxi marathon also has a family run of 4.5 kilometers, so parents can join with their children.
Changzhou Marathon is different from the other two. It is held in mid-July but the race starts at 6 p.m. — it is a night run! The course goes through Dinosaur Park, with colorful lights, live music, and large dinosaur models along the way. This race feels more like a party than a serious competition. Many families and young people take part in the 5-kilometer or 10-kilometer events. After the race, there is usually a small concert or light show to celebrate.
So why not take part in one of them Whichever marathon you choose, you will have a wonderful running experience and enjoy the beauty of different cities in Jiangsu.

Do you have a “meal buddy” for trying out new hotpot places, or a “study buddy” to help keep you fixed at the library In China, this idea has a special name: “Dazi.” The term, meaning “buddy” or “partner,” has become popular among young people, especially those in busy cities. It describes a lighter kind of friendship, where people connect over shared interests.
So, why is everyone looking for a “dazi” One reason is that it saves time. “I used to give up travelling because my friends’ time didn’t match mine,” says Ye, who loves climbing. “Now, with a ‘dazi’, everything is set from the start. We meet at the foot of the mountain, share snacks, and climb together. No extra planning is needed.”
Another reason is that “dazi” culture helps young people manage their social energy. You can have someone to be with, but you don’t have to be best friends. While traditional friendships are like gardening — requiring time and care, a “dazi” comes with no stress to stay in touch or solve life problems. Partners simply enjoy the moment together, then return to their own lives.
Some worry, however, that “dazi” culture might weaken deeper friendships. They point out that if young people only look for “dazi”, they might forget how to build deeper friendships that last through hard times. There are also safety worries about meeting strangers. Yet many young people consider it as a new way to live modern life. “It’s not about replacing(替代) best friends,” explains Chen. “A ‘dazi’ is more like a travel partner on life’s journey. It brings simple joy without stress.” To stay safe, she always meets her “dazi” in public places and tells her parents where she goes.
For her and many others, a “dazi” is simply a way to make a busy life a little more social, and a lot more fun.
26. What does Ye’s experience suggest about traditional friendship
A. It can be hard to make time together for friends.
B. It requires too much time for planning trips.
C. It is less enjoyable than having a “dazi”.
D. It often leads to giving up on hobbies.
27. Why does the writer include Chen’s words at the end of the passage
A. To prove that “dazi” is safer than traditional friendship.
B. To show that most people prefer “dazi” to best friends.
C. To explain the meaning of “dazi” in Chinese culture.
D. To give an example of how young people use “dazi” wisely.
28. What is the writer’s attitude(态度) towards “dazi” culture
A. She fully supports it without any worries.
B. She thinks it will replace traditional friendship.
C. She shows both its advantages and possible risks.
D. She believes it is only suitable for young people.

“Peter,” said Wendy, “how do we get to Neverland(梦幻岛) ”
“Second to the right,” said Peter, “and straight on till morning.”
“What a strange direction!” said John.
“No, it isn’t,” said Peter. “It is quite easy. You just fly.”
“But where do we sleep ” asked Michael.
“You don’t sleep when you are flying,” said Peter. “You just fly and feel happy.”
Soon they were high above the clouds. The stars looked like tiny candles, and the moon below them shone like a silver coin. A soft wind brushed their faces, and the night air smelled sweet and fresh. Wendy held Peter’s hand tightly(紧紧地). “Peter,” she whispered, “it feels like magic.”
Peter laughed. “It is not magic. It is faith, trust, and a little bit of pixie(小精灵) dust.”
“But Peter,” asked Wendy, “are you a fairy(仙子) too ”
Peter laughed. “No, I’m a boy. I just never grew up.”
Tinker Bell, the tiny fairy, flew around them. Her wings shone like rainbow glass. She dropped golden dust on the children. Their bodies felt light as air.
“Now think of a happy thought!” said Peter.
Wendy thought of spring flowers. John thought of a new sword. Michael thought of his pet dog. Up they went, sailing over London. The city lights shone far below like little bright jewellery. Big Ben’s clock face also shone softly in the distance.
Suddenly, Michael felt scared. “I’m falling!” he cried. Tinker Bell quickly flew to him and sprinkled more pixie dust onto his shoulders. Peter caught his hand. “Keep thinking happy thoughts!” he said. Michael closed his eyes and thought of his mother’s warm kiss. At once, he stopped falling and rose again. His heart beat fast, but he was safe.

Are you sad because you bought a phone less than a year ago and now have to charge(充电) it twice a day In the future, a shot to the battery might solve the problem, a recent study suggested.
Researchers at Fudan University found a way to make old batteries last much longer. Their study was published on February 12 in the leading science journal Nature.
How does a lithium-ion(锂离子) battery work It uses lithium ions to store and give out energy. But over time, some of these ions become “dead”, which reduces the battery’s life. When a battery’s power drops below 80% of its original(原始的) level, it is considered failed. This problem has been like this since the invention of the lithium-ion in 1990.
Instead of dead batteries, the Chinese researchers saw them as sick patients. If the broken part can be fixed, the battery can be made good again. They injected(注射) an organic(有机的) lithium salt into the batteries. This chemical replaced the “dead” lithium and made the batteries healthy again. The treatment can be done many times. As a result, the number of charges could increase from between 500 to 2,000 to as many as 60,000. This has never been achieved before.
The magical treatment can not only solve your phone’s battery problem but also help China and the world in many other ways. China is the world’s leading producer of lithium-ion batteries, making about 70% of the world’s total. It also uses many of them in new energy vehicles(车辆) and in storing solar and wind power. Longer-lasting batteries mean lower costs for car owners and the power industry. Last but not least, they can help cut the rising pollution caused by making and throwing away batteries.
33. What does the word “shot” in the first paragraph most probably mean
A. 子弹 B. 射门 C. 注射 D. 拍照
34. According to the passage, what happens when a lithium-ion battery becomes “dead”
A. It stops working completely and cannot be used again.
B. Its power drops below 80% of its original level.
C. It needs to be charged five times a day.
D. Its organic lithium salt runs out.
35. What can we know from the last paragraph about the new battery treatment
A. It may greatly cut down battery change costs.
B. It has already been used in most new phones.
C. It will make batteries last forever without any loss.
D. It works better for car batteries than for phone batteries.
36. What is the best title for the passage
A. How to Charge Your Phone Less Often
B. A “Shot” to Give Old Batteries New Life
C. The History of Lithium-ion Batteries
D. Why China Produces the Most Batteries

七、书面表达(参考范文)
Nowadays, some provinces are trying to set up spring and autumn vacations. I really think it’s a wonderful idea for students to have two more vacations.
First, spring and autumn are the most beautiful seasons of the year. The weather is neither too hot nor too cold. Students can go outside to enjoy the natural beauty, take a walk in the park, or have a short trip with their families. This helps them relax and get away from the pressure of study for a while. Second, these vacations can also help students develop new hobbies or learn new skills. They can join a volunteer activity, read more books, or learn to cook a new dish at home.
To spend the vacations meaningfully, students should make a good plan first. They should balance rest, study and fun. They can spend some time finishing homework, but also leave enough time for outdoor activities and family time. They should also avoid spending too much time on mobile phones or computer games.
In short, spring and autumn vacations are a great chance for students to relax and grow. If we use them well, they will bring us a lot of fun and new experiences.
