In recent fast paced life, the demands and pressures of work left me feeling mentally and physically stressed.I decided to disconnect from my job for a while for a mental break. As a nature lover, without any delay, I came to Borneo, the world's third largest island.
Upon arrival, a local offered to be my guide, which was a great bonus for me.He led me through the jungle and I was immersed in the exploration. One day, the guide turned off the smooth road and took me across a rough hillside instead. We picked our way gingerly when suddenly, a Rafflesia (大王花) appeared into my view among those stones.More than delighted, I bent down and put my nose practically to feel the flower's special flavour.
As I was approaching the end of my trip, there was another thing highlighting my trip.We happened to encounter the king of the crocodile (鳄鱼), a saltwater crocodile, which can grow to a length of 6 meters. It was getting dark. When we shone a flashlight towards the muddy shore, little sounds emerged in the darkness as if something unseen underwater had broken the mud.Taking a second look, we spotted two greedy eyes just above the water line.Cautiously, we approached it and finally could figure out it was a baby crocodile.Though alarmed, I could proudly talk big that I had encountered a hungry crocodile in the wild and lived to back.
Though I have settled back into the routine of everyday life now, the experience stays long after the physical journey ended.I have learned to face life's challenges with a renewed outlook.Despite the rat race of daily existence, try to spare time to spot the breathtaking beauty of nature and the heartfelt connections with others. The world out there is so fascinating.

Going against the tide of flocking to well known tourist destinations on vacation, a growing number of holidaymakers in China tend to spend their leisure time at lesser known tourist attractions.Reverse tourism (逆向旅游) has appeared as a new trend among young holidaymakers in China.
According to data from an online travel agency, the number of rooms booked at hotels in less traveled cities during the holiday was up 30 percent year on year.Bookings for four star or five star hotels in less traveled places all increased at least 10 times. Some lesser known scenic spots posted double digit growth during the holiday.Baimaiquan Park in Jinan, the capital of Shandong Province, received 52,100 visits in the seven days, up 15.78 percent year over year.
Besides crowds, some vacationers chose less traveled places to save on the cost of trips to popular destinations. In addition, lesser known attractions are not as “commercial” as developed ones and are able to offer more actual experiences and natural encounters.Essentially speaking, total relaxation is becoming a real expectation for many people when they travel.Changes in demand may be the fundamental reason for the popularity of reverse tourism.
“The rise of reverse tourism is not a bad thing,” said Zhengzhou Daily. It means that vacationers now have more options, which brings more possibilities to the tourism market.More importantly, it noted, the trend is set to force popular destinations to improve themselves instead of resting on their past honor.
Jiang Han, a senior researcher, said that reverse tourism will become one of the future directions for the market. To give a real boost to the tourism market, Jiang suggested that more efforts be made to tap the potential of underrated (被低估了的), lesser known destinations. It is necessary to dig deeper into the local customs and highlight the local characteristics to improve the quality of local tourism.

A.It will drop with the recovery of economy.
B.It benefits both tourists and the tourism market.
C.It is helpful to spread local culture to tourists.
D.It stops the development of the famous resorts.
11.What is Jiang Han's advice on developing the tourism market
A.Finding the potential and features of less traveled attractions.
B.Improving the management of the local tourism.
C.Upgrading the facilities in tourist areas.

The increase in primate (灵长类动物) ecotourism is causing stress related behaviors in monkeys, according to a new study.
The study, led by the University of Portsmouth, looked at the effect of a single engine motorboat approaching a community of proboscis monkeys. Those monkeys are unusual with their very long noses, which makes them appealing to tourists. And many of the boats carrying the tourists approach the primates quickly and loudly, often reaching the river banks just a few meters away from the wildlife.
The researchers conducted the experiment by approaching the monkeys in a motorboat with different speeds and travel distances — fast close (approaching the monkeys for 10 seconds when 40 meters away at a speed of 14.4km/hr), slow close (approaching the monkeys for 40 seconds when 40 meters away at a speed of 3.6km/hr), and slow far conditions (approaching the monkeys for 20 seconds when 100 meters away, at a speed of 3.6km/hr).
The results showed that the monkeys displayed stress related behaviors for longer in the fast close and slow close conditions and also reduced feeding as a result of the boat approaching in the fast close condition.Once the boat started to approach, the proboscis monkeys showed repeated scratching (挠) and often moved quickly backwards to hide in the trees. This could potentially cause the monkeys to leave their safe sleeping sites and to go deep into the forest as it gets dark, where they could face a higher risk of predation (捕食).
“Collectively, our findings suggest that the approach of a single motorboat led to stress in proboscis monkeys when they were approached as closely as 60 meters from the other side of the river, regardless of the speed of approach,” said Dr Marina Davila Ross, lead author of the study.
The researchers thus propose that guidelines for primate tourism in the riverside areas should include an approach speed of no more than 4km/hr within 100 meters of the proboscis monkeys. They suggest it is also important to keep a distance, preferably no closer than 60 meters away, from the monkeys.
“Such information might be helpful for tourists, allowing them to change their behaviors when visiting the primates and when encouraging guides to follow the guidelines,” Dr Davila Ross added.
12.What's the possible reason for choosing proboscis monkeys as the study subjects
A.They are very attractive to tourists.
B.They generally do no harm to humans.
C.They are put on the line by the motorboats.
D.They frighten tourists away with their noses.
13.What did the researchers' experiment show about proboscis monkeys
A.They found the slow close condition most stressful.
B.They tended to go hunting when faced with danger.
C.They lost their sense of safety at the sound of motorboats.
D.They lost their way very easily at the sight of motorboats.
14.What do the researchers advise tourists to do
A.To approach proboscis monkeys less frequently.
B.To avoid getting too close to proboscis monkeys.
C.To ask guides for more information about proboscis monkeys.
D.To behave themselves while trying to feed proboscis monkeys.
15.What does the text mainly tell us
A.Ecotourism has led to a better understanding of primates.
B.Ecotourism makes it possible to get close to the primates.
C.Ecotourism is contributing to the conservation of primates.
D.Ecotourism is having a negative effect on primate behavior.

A curious thing began to happen in my hometown of Austin, Texas. I was at work, listening to the stories of my psychotherapy (心理治疗) clients, but the louder voices would be those of the songbirds outside the office window. How had I never noticed this before It was distracting as well as pleasing. My attention would be pulled to some place outside the familiar walls of my life. The birds were a nice break and I had the idea to step away.
My husband, Philip, and I are both psychotherapists who spent the past decade building a successful private practice. It's challenging to bring personal and professional lives to a stop. We have responsibilities to Jimmy and Marcie, our eight year old twins. Despite our desire to live a simple family life, we were driven by “more, better, faster” in the past decade. Yet, I didn't want this anymore.
We decided to take a family gap year abroad for a year, to experience cultures, languages, and foods out of the comfort zone. In a small, quiet and warm wooden house in the Texas country, we began writing out our vision and values for the year. The mission was fairly simple. We wanted more slow time and more time in nature.
We committed to opening up to what was unknown and unexplored in the life of our family and ourselves. Me What did I, a middle aged woman, want out of this I wanted to gain some insights into some unsettled feelings growing stronger inside of me over the past year that I struggled to understand.
The planning took a weekend away. We wanted to rest and play in Thailand and China. We wanted to practice our Spanish. 第二节
参考范文:
Getting ourselves ready, we set out on our family gap year journey. We moved slowly and explored different kinds of life. We had a home base in every destination so that we got the chance to mix with the locals and get to know their culture better. It was true that we had recreated another family dance in a different place, but the rhythm suited us well and our daily life was aligned with the values that we reclaimed. We traveled through Thailand and China, and lived in Mexico for one month, where we were able to get in touch with nature.
At the end of the journey, I knew myself better. This slowpaced life helped me relax. I realized what the unsettled feeling inside of me was and what those songbirds outside my office offered. Though I've been a therapist for almost twenty years, sometimes I feel I'm still like a beginner. This feeling stressed me out on occasion. What this travel experience taught me was that I should shift my focus once in a while, slowing down and staying closer to nature. And now I transformed myself from one with walls into one with wings.
