An Unforgettable Moment in Sports Meet
The annual sports meet has ended, but one moment lingers vividly in my mind. During the
4×100m relay, our class’s third runner Zhang Wei stumbled and fell right after grabbing the baton,
his knee bleeding. To everyone’s surprise, he immediately got up, limped forward, and passed the
baton to the final runner.
This moment was unforgettable not for victory, but for his courage and determination. His
refusal to give up moved everyone, teaching me that true glory lies not in never falling, but in
rising every time we stumble. It was a powerful lesson in resilience that will stay with me.

9.M: This is Tom. May I speak to Miss Li
W: Tom Glad to hear your voice.
M: Miss Li, I wonder if the result of the last English exam has come out. You know I do well in
English, but I was so careless that I made many mistakes this time. Now I’m really stressed out.
W: Just take it easy, Tom! The result hasn’t come out yet. As soon as it comes out, I’ll tell you.
Maybe you didn’t do so badly.
M: I hope so. What if I get a bad grade I feel nervous about it.
W: Don’t worry. It doesn’t matter. You know the mistakes you made. Pay more attention next
time.
M: Thanks a lot, Miss Li. You always give us much encouragement.
W: I’m glad to hear that. Cheer up.
M: I will. See you next week.
W: Have a nice day! Please give my regards to your parents. See you.
M: Thank you so much.
10. M: Hello, everyone. I have an announcement to make. As you know, we have more than 30
students from America, England, Canada and France visiting our school. In order to help them
enjoy their time here, the Students’ Union has decided to organize a European music week. It will
be held the last week of September. You can sing pop songs and play musical instruments, so don’
t forget to bring along your musical instrument if you have any. There will also be an interesting
music contest. During the competition, the visiting students will sing the first sentence of a song
and you will be required to guess where the song comes from and what’s the name of the song.
Please come to the Students’ Union office to sign up before September 15th if you want to take
part in any of the activities. The music week will be held in the garden to the left of the library. I
hope all of you will have a great time. That’s all!
