★mean v.表示“打算,计划”,句中的I didn’t mean to表示“我不是故意的”。
mean通常接动词不定式作宾语,表示某人计划或打算做某事。如:
I mean to finish this project by the end of the week.我打算在本周末之前完成这个项目。
mean表示“意味,意思”,如:What does this word mean? 这个单词是什么意思?
mean用作形容词, 表示“吝啬的;自私的;刻薄的;不友好的”, 如:
Don’t be mean.Share your toys with your sister.别小气,和你妹妹分享你的玩具。
★direction n.表示方向、指导、指示、趋势等多种含义。
①表示“方向”,是可数名词,通常与介词“in”或“towards”使用。固定搭配:in the direction of“朝……方向”,如:I’m heading in the direction of the train station.我正前往火车站的方向。
②表示“指示”“指引”“用法说明”等通常要用复数形式“directions”。如:
He gave us directions to the railway station.他告诉我们去火车站怎么走。

③表示“指导”或“指挥”,是不可数名词,通常与介词“under”连用,表示“在……的指导下”。如:

一、定义
一般过去时表示过去某个时间发生的动作或存在的状态,也可表示过去经常或反复发生的动作,常和表示过去的时间状语连用,如yesterday、last night、in 2014、three days ago等。

三、动词过去式的构成
  动词过去式的构成分为规则与不规则两类。规则动词的过去式一般有四种构成方式,其后缀的读音规则一般是:清辅音后面读作/t/, 浊辅音和元音后面读作/d/, /t/和/d/后面读作/id/。
