It's quite common for us to eat too much junk food.Just putting one tasty snack in your mouth makes you want more. And now, scientists have found out why we do this.
A research team from the US looked at the brains of mice to see how their brains control their eating behavior. They found a set of special neurons (神经元)and named them“periLC neurons”.
These neurons affect whether or not the mice will continue eating after having a snack. The neurons fired( 激发 )less than usual while the mice were eating or drinking. If the neurons were stopped from firing at all,the mice would eat even more. This creates a cycle—the mice eat and drink, the neurons fire less, the mice then feel like eating and drinking even more, and so it continues.
Of course, there are other neurons that make us feel full and stop eating. But this finding can help scientists begin to answer why it's so easy to overeat. And by further studying these neurons, they may also find new ways to solve problems such as obesity( 肥胖 )and diabetes (糖尿病).

What will the house of the future look like Could it have gardens on its walls,or a pool with fish for dinner Architects believe that they are all possibilities. The only thing for sure is that the houses will be as green as possible.
The tree house
Many architects in the world would like to build a“tree house”.Like a leaf, the surface of the house collects sunlight during the day.The energy can be used to heat water, produce electricity, and even create fresh air for the home. The“root”( 根 )of the house is deep under the ground. It uses the soil(土壤)to control the home's temperature.
The lizard(蜥蜴)house
Like a lizard, changing color with the weather is the most important design of a lizard house.
When it's in the bright sun,the cover of the house will turn white to protect it from strong heat. During dark days,it turns dark and takes in as much light and heat as possible to produce energy.
Meals at home
This design is perhaps as much about the future of food production as architecture(建筑风 格).It has gardens on the outside wall of the house.People can plant tomatoes, carrots and green tea on them.So every day in the morning, you just need to walk outside and collect your meals.
Learning from the past
Looking to the future isn't the only way to be green.Sometimes, ancient techniques can also help cut down energy use.For example,a chimney(烟囱)can be a useful air conditioner because it is easier for hot air to flow out of the chimney.
( )9.We can heat water, produce electricity or create fresh air for the home .
A.with the root of a leaf B.with the energy from sunlight
C.with the soil under the ground D.with gardens on the walls

A.will be more delicious B.need more cooks
C.cost as much as possible D.will be greener
( )12.What is the main purpose of writing the text
A.To describe different types of houses.
B.To talk about new designs for future houses.
C.To discuss energy-saving techniques in architecture.
D.To compare past and future architectural techniques.

“Your hair looks nice today.”
This is an example of a compliment. It feels nice when someone notices and praises you for something. But are there cultural differences in making compliments
Sometimes I receive compliments for things that I don't think I deserve(值得).For example, when a taxi driver says“Wow,your Chinese is so good!”even though the only thing I said to him was“Hello, please take me to the airport.”It feels insincere(不真诚的)to receive a compliment like this for saying just one simple sentence. However,I know he's just trying to be polite.
It also seems like Chinese people are a bit more humble(谦虚的) than others when they receive a compliment. They often downplay(对 … … 低调处理)the compliments they receive.I appreciate this quality,as people like this tend to be more honest.I've noticed that older people are extremely humble.
When and where should you give compliments I try my best to compliment people in the service industry.People sometimes complain about the bad service in restaurants, stores and other places. But if I get good service,I make sure to compliment whoever served me,such as by saying “the food was delicious”or something like that. This will encourage them to continue to provide good service to others.
( )13.Does the author really think there are cultural differences in making compliments
A.Certainly not. B.Yes. C.Not sure. D.Perhaps.
( )14.The best word to describe the author's feeling after hearing the compliment from the taxi driver is“ ”.
A.insincere. B.simple C.polite D.honest
( )15.Which advice may you get from the text
A.Receiving compliments politely.
B.Providing good service to others.
C.Being more humble than others.
D.Making compliments,making friends.
( )16. What do you think the author might be
A.A taxi driver. B.A Chinese.
C.A foreign friend. D.A stranger.

A new high-speed train called T-flight is being developed in Datong, Shanxi. The train recently passed a test run, bringing it closer to public use.
The T-flight can travel up to 1,000 kilometers an hour.It is even faster than a plane. This means a trip from Beijing to Shanghai could take just one hour instead of more than four hours.
The T-flight is very fast because it moves in a special tube(管道)with almost no air. With less air, there is less air resistance(阻力).At the same time, maglev(磁悬浮)technology makes sure that the train and the track keep from touching. This helps the train move faster without frictional resistance(摩擦阻力).
The T-flight will help build a“one-hour economic circle”among key cities in China. It will work with other high-speed trains and planes to make a bigger travel network.
41.How fast is the T-flight

They' re not only good for your body but also good for your mind. Lastly, make sure to get enough sleep. Lack of sleep can make it harder to lose weight.
Remember, keeping what you want in your mind is important. Stick to your plan and you'll see results over time. I believe in you and I' m sure you'll achieve your goals.
Wishing you all the best on your weight loss journey!
