学情分析
Analysis of the Target Students Existing Foundation: The target students are seventh-graders who are new in junior high. They’re interested in the nature and have learned something about it in daily life and at school. They have
acquired some words and expressions of plants and learned about genres such as narration,exposition,etc. Development Demands:They may want to know more about plants such as the structure, history and uses of them. They want to know how to make a poster of plants. They need to use simple future tense to express certain things. Existing Barriers:They may have difficulty in combing and summarizing different aspects of plants and understanding the importance of them to the world. Preset Measures:Communicative methods and tablet computers. In-time guidance from the teacher.
教学目标
By the end of the class, students will be able to: 1. Obtain information of corn with the help of the notes and comb the discourse to find out its structure. 2. Summarize different uses of corn and analyze its importance to Mexicans. 3. Acquire and apply the way to ask for and give permission. 4. Develop the structural knowledge of the discourse and describe plants with the help of it.

Activity 1: Lead-in 1. Students view the three pictures of rice, wheat and corn and answer questions. Q1: What plants can you see the the pictures Q2: How do we eat rice and wheat in China Q3: What about corn 2. Students watch pictures of Mexicans and corn and answer questions with the help of tablet computers. Q1: Which country are they from Q2: How do they eat corn Activity 2: Predict Students predict according to the picture and answer questions. Q1: Where is Jason Q2: What’s in his right hand Q3: What may he tell us Activity 3: Listen for the main idea Students listen to the opening of the vlog and choose the main idea. Activity 4: Listen for details 1. Students listen again and complete Jason’s notes for the vlog. 2. Students think about questions: Q1: Why does Jason use numbers to describe corn Q2: What aspects do you know about corn now To lead in the topic and arouse students’ attention. Students find out the sentences to ask for and give permission in a polite way from the conversation between Jason and the Mexicans. Activity 6: Think and share Q1:Without corn, there is no country. Do you agree Q2: Why is corn important to Mexicans their understanding of the target language and apply later. To develop students’ critical thinking and help them to achieve deep learning. assessment: In- time oral feedback. Peer assessment: work in pairs; comments from the class.
