Have you ever woken up from a nap feeling lost or more tired, as if you’ve forgotten which planet you’re on (1) . It is a sign that you might go beyond your napping mark. It can slow you down in the short term and possibly affect your nighttime sleep in the long run. To avoid this and wake up refreshed, follow these ways for taking the perfect nap.
Take regular naps
You don’t want a messy napping schedule where you sleep “sometimes early, sometimes late, sometimes short.” So pick a time, like after lunch or in between your afternoon meetings and stick to it. (2) . If you’re napping in your car on your lunch break for example, consider bringing a pillow, an eye mask or earplugs to help improve your nap experience.
(3) .
From the moment you wake up in the morning, sleep pressure builds in your body to push you to fall asleep again at the end of the day. Napping reduces some of that pressure, so it’s important that you nap early enough in the day for it to build back up by bedtime. If you follow a usual nighttime sleep schedule, take a nap between noon and 3 p. m. (4) .
Keep your nap short
(5) . It might be painful if you’re a fan of a long, relaxing afternoon sleeping. However, the truth is that longer naps can lead to sleep inertia more easily because you might enter deeper sleep, making it harder to wake up. If you find yourself falling asleep quickly and going into deep sleep with only 30 minutes of napping, that’s a sign you’re not getting enough sleep at night. If this is the case, take steps to raise the quality of your nighttime sleep.

Do you know which church (教堂) is the tallest in the world It’s the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, Spain. This beautiful church was designed by a Spanish architect (建筑师) called Antoni Gaudi.
As one of the greatest architects of the 20th century, Antoni Gaudi spent all his life working on buildings. He was really good at using natural light and light made by people to create special feelings and different looks in his buildings. In the Sagrada Familia, he put windows and colored glass in a special way. Sunlight shines through them and turns into different colors, making the church a bright and quiet place. As the day passes, the light changes, and the church looks different in color all the time.
When most people think about architecture, they picture tall buildings, churches or houses with attractive decorations. But math is the quiet and important power behind every beautiful building. Golden Ratio (黄金比例) The golden ratio is a special number, about 1.618. You can get it by dividing a line into two parts. The longer part divided by the shorter part is equal to the whole line divided by the longer part. Architects often use the golden ratio because it makes buildings look nice and well-balanced. Many famous buildings use this ratio, such as the Taj Mahal in India and the Notre-Dame Cathedral in France. Symmetry (对称) From ancient amazing buildings to modern ones, symmetry is still an important rule. It makes structures look elegant, neat and balanced. Studies show that people usually find symmetrical shapes more pleasing and easier to understand. The Forbidden City in China is a great example of symmetrical beauty. Other examples include the Taj Mahal in India and the Palace of Versailles in France. Geometric Shapes (几何图形) Shapes like triangles (三角形), squares, rectangles and circles are often used in architecture. The triangle is the “strongest” shape. Even when it is pressed hard, it never changes its shape. That’s why it is often used in bridges and roofs. Squares and rectangles are also useful shapes. Their right angles make buildings strong and steady. Circles are important for domes and arches. They let wind pass through more easily. Also, stress is spread evenly over the whole circle, so it is almost as strong as a triangle.
31.What does Paragraph 2 mainly talk about
A. How Gaudi shaped light in his building.
B. What causes the change of the light.
C. Why Gaudi’s building requires light.
D. Whether light can influence people’s moods.

①It has long been known that spending time in nature is good for mental health, whether listening to birdsong or walking in a park. A study published in 2024 shows that even half an hour of birdwatching could make us happier and healthier, and help build a deeper connection with nature.
②We already know that hearing birds during the day has a positive effect. Even listening through an open window can lift our mood, though the effect may be short. The new study finds that watching birds is even better than only listening to them. It is also more helpful for health than only going for a walk in nature.
③Why is birdwatching so helpful One reason may be “biophilia”—the idea that humans feel close to nature. Being in nature simply makes us feel good because of biodiversity. Studies suggest that diversity in nature acts like a natural medicine to help reduce stress and encourage us to exercise more. Birdwatching increases good feelings, which are key to happiness. Being aware of good feelings makes people even healthier.
④Birdwatching can also create a sense of awe. Feeling amazed by nature can change how we feel about our lives. Being in nature and watching wildlife requires us to lose ourselves in the activity, which is good for both mind and body.
⑤Another reason is that birdwatching can lead to “flow”—a state of deep focus (专注). By carefully counting birds and watching their behaviors, birdwatchers often feel a rush of happiness and great satisfaction, which is good for their health.
⑥In short, birdwatching is a powerful way to improve mental health. So, pick up your binoculars, step outside and try birdwatching. Enjoy every moment in nature—your mind will thank you.
34.What does the underlined word “biophilia” mean in paragraph 3
A. A fear of nature.
B. A feeling of getting close to nature.
C. A love for exercise.
D. A scientific study of counting birds.
35.From the passage, which is the most helpful to health
A. Listening to birdsong. B. Taking a walk in the park.
C. Watching birds in nature. D. Picking up your binoculars.
36.The passage is probably written for people _________.
A. planning outdoor classes B. looking for a healthy hobby
C. studying sounds of nature D. doing detailed bird research
37.What is the structure of this passage (①= Paragraph 1, ②= Paragraph 2…)
A. B. C. D.
C
Listening to music, watching movies, reading novels... Which kind of art is your go-to choice for fun According to a new study, art not only calms your mind but also improves your physical health.
For the first time, scientists in the UK found that art helps the immune (免疫的), endocrine (内分泌的) and nervous systems all at once, said The Guardian. The study included 50 healthy volunteers aged 18 to 40. Half of them went to see real artworks at the Courtauld Gallery in London, while the other half looked at copies of the same paintings in a non-gallery setting. All of them wore health sensors throughout the experiment.
The result showed a 22 percent drop in stress hormones (激素) for the gallery-goers and an 8 percent drop for the other group, according to Art Fund. Signs of inflammation (炎症) also went down by about 30 percent for the gallery group.
It s not just visual art that has such effects. For example, a 2021 Swiss study said that dance reduces stress by improving movement control.
What makes art so powerful Scientists have different ideas. One, developed by Edward Vessel at the City College of New York, looks to our brain s default mode network (默认模式网络). This network is thought to play a key role in creativity—it usually stays quiet when we pay attention to things around us. But when we enjoy art, this network becomes active.
Although we are still learning how this works, ________. According to American Scientist, art therapy was first developed to help traumatized (心理受创的) World War II soldiers express their feelings. Those painful experiences often hurt the parts of their brains that control speech, so traditional talking therapy didn t work well. Since then, art therapy has helped over 650 million people around the world.
Marygrace Berberian, a professor at New York University, said in the university s news in September that number-based studies, like the new UK study, can help more people get art therapy.
38.What does the result of the UK study show
A. Young people benefit more from viewing art.
B. Looking at art copies is of little benefit to health.
C. Painting is the most helpful art for lowering stress.
D. Stress went down more for the gallery-goers group.
39.What does Edward Vessel s theory suggest about art
A. It makes people s memory become better.
B. It makes the brain s special network active.
C. It makes the brain s usual activity weaker.
D. It makes people careless about the outside.
40.Which of the following is the most suitable for ________

C. art s power has been fully understood by scientists
D. art s power hasn t been used in treatment till now

It’s my great honor to share my special experience here.
Last term, I joined the school running team. At first, I could hardly finish 800 meters—every step felt like a struggle. I felt tired and wanted to give up. However, I kept practicing every morning, rain or shine. Gradually, I found myself running longer and faster. Finally, I completed a 3,000-meter race successfully.
This experience taught me growth comes from persistence. Sports not only build up our body but also shape our character. Every step made me stronger and more confident.
I believe sports help us face challenges bravely and grow into better persons. Let’s keep moving!
