Yandang Mountain is widely known as the"No. I Mountain in Southeastern China".It stands proudly in Wenzhou, Zhejiang Province. Rising to about 1,057 metres above sea level, it is a very tall and great mountain. Its name has an interesting origin(起源). It comes from a dried-up lake at the very top of the mountain. This lake is called Yanhu Lake, or Goose Lake.When autumn arrives, wild geese fly here and rest comfortably in the reeds (芦苇) around the lake.
The mountain is like a big treasure box fullof interesting natural sights. Ling Feng,or Spiritual Peaks, is one of the most famous parts.In this area, there are many strange peaks and cliffs. From different angles, they look like different things. Take Hezhang Peak for example.This 270-metre-high peak can look like a pair of hands reaching out or a slim young lady in a beautiful qipao.
Another famous sight is Sanzhepu, or Three-Terraced Falls. The falls are divided into(被分成)three levels by strong rock cliffs. These waterfalls are some of the most special and beautiful ones on the whole mountain.
Over the past hundreds of years, many temples(寺庙) have been built on the mountain.And many famous artists have left their wonderful works there. These works include stone art pieces,great calligraphic tablets(书法碑刻) and paintings on the rocks.
