Ⅰ.阅读理解
A
While I was teaching in China, I became interested in acupuncture. It was after returning from China and witnessing how successful it had been that I reached the decision to become an acupuncturist myself. I was lucky to discover that the town where I lived had a famous college of traditional acupuncture.
Alternative medicine such as acupuncture is particularly important for me because I firmly believe that it works on the level of body, mind and spirit. This is very different from Western medicine which is supposed to work only on the body. When a person is ill, it is believed that there's something in their life that is putting their energy levels out of balance. What alternative therapies try to do is help to gradually push that energy back into balance. The result is that any disease present might naturally disappear as it cannot survive when energies are balanced.
I've treated a wide range of people for various conditions, for example, people suffering from stress and anxiety. To acquire a qualification in acupuncture, I took a course that lasted three years. I had to go to the college about one weekend in three. I also had a large amount of homework and practical work to do, which I did two or three evenings a week. This involved locating points on different people. As you can imagine, this isn't straightforward as people are of different sizes and have differently shaped bodies.
In the future I hope to set up an alternative health clinic which will involve myself as an acupuncturist but perhaps other people as well. I'd like to work with people who provide treatments such as rubbing (按摩) and pressing people's feet in a special way to help them relax and feel well. I'd like to set it up somewhere in the countryside, where people could feel free from the stress of life.

Eating too much fat contributes to the risk of stroke (中风) and other heart diseases. However, it's the type of fat, not the amount, that appears to be more important when it comes to stroke.Eating plant-based fats lowers stroke risk, according to a study presentation given at the American Heart Association Scientific Sessions 2021.
The study, which hasn't yet been proved by other researchers, found people who ate the most vegetable-based fats were 12% less likely to experience a stroke compared to those who ate the least. On the other hand, people who ate the highest levels of animal-based saturated (饱和) fat were 16% more likely to experience a stroke than those who ate the least fat of that kind. The findings show the type of fat and different food sources of fat are more important than the total amount of fat in preventing certain diseases including stroke.
You need fat to survive.Fats help your body absorb vitamins from foods, build cells, give you energy and keep you warm. But it's the unsaturated fats that come from vegetables, nuts and fatty fish that can lower your cholesterol (胆固醇) level and help keep you healthy.Saturated fats are generally not as healthy. They mainly come from red and processed meats.
“A proper reduction in red and processed meat consumption within a healthy eating pattern can reduce total death by 13%, heart disease death by 14%, cancer death by 11% and type 2 diabetes risk by 24%,” said Dr Frank Hu, one of the authors of the stroke study.
Interestingly, dairy fat was not associated with a higher risk of stroke, the study found. There has been an ongoing debate among researchers as to the role of dairy. The diet guidelines for Americans call for three servings of low- and no-fat dairy each day.

B.Eating animal-based fats lowers the risk of stroke.
C.The study has been recognized by most researchers.

6.How does paragraph 2 mainly develop
A.By making comparisons.
B.By analyzing causes and effects.

The Guilford County Department of Public Health is hosting two rabies (狂犬病) clinics this month in honor of World Rabies Day on Sept.28.The rabies vaccination (接种疫苗) will cost $5 per shot and will protect your pet for one calendar year.Dogs mustn't get loose and cats must be kept in cages.
The State of North Carolina requires dogs and cats to be vaccinated. The health department recommends that other animals that have regular contact with humans, such as horses, should be vaccinated as well.According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the rabies virus causes approximately 55,000 human deaths worldwide each year, with most of the deaths occurring in children under 15.
The rabies virus is transmitted through the bite of an infected animal. When an animal has rabies (or is rabid), the virus circulates throughout its body and is transmitted to other animals or humans through its saliva. The most commonly infected animals are raccoons (浣熊), bats, skunks, and foxes.
The best ways to keep your pet from becoming rabid are to keep it tied when in public, as unchained pets are easily exposed to wild animals.Feed your pet indoors if possible.Wild animals will break into your basement, outbuildings, or garage to seek food, so be sure the storage location you select for your pet food is secure. Moreover, do not try to touch, feed, or rescue wild animals.Do not pick up dead animals as the virus could still be present.
This year in Guilford County, the majority of the animal rabies cases have involved raccoons, with foxes in a very close second place.Guilford County has recorded fifteen cases of animal rabies thus far this year.

11.Which of the following animals would most likely be a carrier of rabies
A.A raccoon. B.A shark.

12.Which is a good recommendation for people to keep their animals free from rabies
A.Feed your cat in the kitchen.
B.Allow your pets to go outdoors alone.

17 . They include herbal medicines and diet, foot reflexology (反射论) massage, tai chi, acupuncture, and acupressure (针压法) — to name a few of the more well-known ones. These methods are used to promote the unrestricted flow of qi throughout the body, which is said to promote health. They are also used to balance the opposing forces of yin and yang, believed by Taoists to be found in all things.

Eating too much fat contributes to the risk of stroke (中风) and other heart diseases. However, it's the type of fat, not the amount, that appears to be more important when it comes to stroke.Eating plant based fats lowers stroke risk, according to a study presentation given at the American Heart Association Scientific Sessions 2021.
The study, which hasn't yet been proved by other researchers, found people who ate the most vegetable based fats were 12% less likely to experience a stroke compared to those who ate the least. On the other hand, people who ate the highest levels of animal based saturated (饱和) fat were 16% more likely to experience a stroke than those who ate the least fat of that kind.
The diet guidelines for Americans call for three servings of low and no fat dairy each day.

The Guilford County Department of Public Health is hosting two rabies (狂犬病) clinics this month in honor of World Rabies Day on Sept.28.The rabies vaccination (接种疫苗) will cost D|S5 per shot and will protect your pet for one calendar year.Dogs mustn't get loose and cats must be kept in cages.
