一般过去时表示在过去某个时间或某一段时间内发生的动作或存在的状态。
1.动词过去式的构成
(1)规则动词过去式的变化规则。
一般情况下,直接加 ed want→wanted
play→played
以e结尾的动词,直接加 d hope→hoped
live→lived
以重读闭音节结尾,末尾只有一个辅音字母的动词,先双写这个辅音字母,再加 ed stop→stopped
shop→shopped

2.一般过去时的句式结构
(1)含有be动词的一般过去时。
①肯定句: 主语+was/were+其他.
②否定句: 主语+was/were+not+其他.
③一般疑问句: Was/Were+主语+其他?
肯定回答: Yes, 主语+was/were.
否定回答: No, 主语+was/were not.
(2)含有实义动词的一般过去时。
①肯定句: 主语+动词的过去式+其他.
②否定句: 主语+didn’t+动词原形+其他.
③一般疑问句: Did+主语+动词原形+其他?
肯定回答: Yes, 主语+did.

3.一般过去时的时间状语。
一般过去时的时间状语有yesterday, a moment ago(刚才), yesterday morning, last night/week, the day before yesterday(前天), just now (刚才), in+过去的时间(如in 2008)等。

  It was a dark and stormy night. I was alone at home. When I was going to bed, I heard a knocking sound on my window.
  “Who’s there?” I shouted. Suddenly there was a flash of lightning(一道闪电). I saw a face at the window. It looked like an alien. I felt afraid. I ran to my bed and pulled my blanket over my head. I started to shout for my parents, but there was no reply. Then I remembered that they were at a party.

  The next day I found some footprints outside my bedroom window. I found them to be exactly the same size as my father’s shoes. The footprints ended at the door of my house. I then took out the camera and saw the photos. But to my surprise, they were so dark that I could hardly see anything. Then I remembered that I did not use the flash.
  When I told the whole things to my father, he started to laugh. He told me that he had dressed up as an alien for the party, so I started laughing too.
