四、阅读理解
①There are many legendary(传奇的) stories in China like Hou Yi Shoots
the Suns and Nü Wa Repairs the Sky. Here comes another one called Kua Fu
Chasing the Sun.
②Long long ago, there lived a group of people in the deep forest, and Kua
Fu was their leader(领袖).There were so many dangerous animals, so Kua Fu
tried his best to catch them to protect(保护) his people.
③One year, the weather was so hot that the rivers were dry and the plants
were dying. As a result, Kua Fu and his people lived a terrible life. To save
them, he decided to catch the sun and control it.
④Kua Fu ran after the sun but the sun moved quickly. After nine days and
nights, he finally caught up with the sun. However, the sun was so hot that he
felt very thirsty and tired, so he drank the water in the Yellow River and the Wei
River. But the water from these two rivers was not enough. Then Kua Fu decided to
go to a large lake to drink its water. Unluckily, he died on the way to the lake.
Before he died, Kua Fu threw his walking stick away. It fell onto the land and
quickly became a large peach(桃子) forest. The forest grew well all year
round, and it provided peaches for the hard working people when they were thirsty.
⑤Although the story is not real, it shows the strong wish of the old Chinese
