Australia might not be the first choice for overseas volunteering, yet it faces unique conservation challenges. Climate change and pollution threaten the Great Barrier Reef, which is home to more than 30 species of whales and dolphins, 1,500 kinds of fish and many endangered animals. Large areas of coral (珊瑚) have been dying off. Human activities also harm Australia's wildlife by cutting down their habitats. GoEco's program invites volunteers to protect the Great Barrier Reef, help its marine species and take practical action to preserve this wonderful natural environment for future generations.
Program Highlights
Dive and explore the world's largest coral reef (礁) system.
Work with professional marine experts and experienced guides.
Suitable for both beginners and fully certified divers.
Program Schedule
Volunteers can join the program year-round, with flexible durations from 2 weeks to 12 weeks. Daily activities include underwater surveys, coral monitoring, and marine debris collection. Volunteers will receive comprehensive training upon arrival, covering diving safety, species identification, and data collection methods.

Over the summer, my daughter, Cora, then 9, attended her first sleepaway camp. It had been her longest time away from home. "How much longer " she asked with increasing frequency during our return trip to Stanford.
Just past Crystal Springs Lake, Highway 280 peaks and then bends left, going down through golden grasses. I asked her to look out of the window. "Do you recognize where we are " She stared out, then let out a cry of longing. By the time we turned onto Campus Drive, it had become a repeated shout. "Home! Home!"
Cora has lived as a resident fellow kid in dorms since she was one. She's connected to the land and its inhabitants: the coast live oak trees she climbed and the annual summer ants into every campus kitchen. She's tied to its people—notably, college students. She has joined their Halloween costume competitions and eaten dining hall chicken beside them since she could hold one up.
I, on the other hand, have a hard time answering the question of where I am "from". By the time I was Cora's age, I'd lived in Ohio, Indiana, Missouri, and North Carolina. Any friendships built to last did so by letter. In adulthood I added four more states. Where can I lay claim to I've now lived at Stanford a collective 13 years and built a family here.
In that moment Cora cried out, I was filled with a realization. Cora is from here. Up to that day, I'd thought of Stanford as a thing I was sharing with my children, but I realized it is something they are sharing with me. And this place grounds us, my daughter and me, and it connects us to each other.

D. To illustrate how deeply Cora belongs.
26. What difficulty does the author note about her own background
A. She has lived in too many places to feel rooted.
B. She has lost contact with her childhood friends.
C. She regrets moving frequently during adulthood.
D. She feels disconnected from her family history.
27. What realization does the author reach at the end
A. Her children feel more at home than she does.
B. Her family has become deeply rooted in Stanford.
C. Stanford gives them a shared sense of belonging.
D. Long-term residence creates a sense of ownership.

Have you done the MBTI personality test "Yes, I'm an INTJ," responded Gu Ailing in a recent interview with GQ magazine. Gu's response became a hot topic online and drew people's attention to the test.
The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is a test designed to identify a person's personality type. The test result is based on four sets of opposing qualities: Extroversion (外向) vs Introversion, Sensing vs Intuition (直觉), Thinking vs Feeling, and Judging vs Perceiving (感知). After answering more than 90 questions, test-takers get their four-letter personality result, including a detailed description. Gu Ailing's result of INTJ is one of the 16 possible personality types the test reveals.
Developed by Katharine Cook Briggs and her daughter Isabel Briggs Myers in the US in the 1940s, the test grew to become the standard for personality tests. Many companies and organizations use it when hiring or evaluating staff to help them select people for certain roles. And now in China, Internet users are using it as a tool to guide their lives and relationships.
But how reliable is this test Well, it isn't recognized as being scientifically valid, according to The Guardian. The test was based on the theories of Swiss psychologist Carl Jung. Even Jung warned that his personality "types" were just rough classifications that he observed. In addition, neither of the test designers was a trained psychologist.
The Guardian reveals the key problem with the MBTI is that the test is too "black and white". The results place people into only one of each of the four categories; for example, someone is either an introvert or an extrovert. But many people would surely sit somewhere in the middle of these two. Being categorized like this prevents people from appreciating their complexities and deeper selves.
Tests and tools that help people better understand who they are and how they think are very powerful and can still help in some aspects of life. As science and technology develop, people can look forward to more accurate tests that truly embrace how wonderfully complex and ever-changing humans really are.
28. What can we learn about the MBTI test from the text
A. It was created by a famous Swiss psychologist.
B. It divides personalities into 16 types based on four trait pairs.
C. It has been used in China longer than in Western countries.
D. It mainly focuses on predicting future career success.
29. Why do many companies use the MBTI test when they hire new employees
A. To reduce the cost of hiring new employees.
B. To assess candidates' professional skills directly.
C. To match individuals with appropriate job positions.
D. To follow the latest trends in global recruitment.
30. What does the underlined "scientifically valid" mean in paragraph 4
A. Widely discussed.
B. Scientifically supported.
C. Scientifically understood.
D. Widely acknowledged.
31. What is the main purpose of the article
A. To encourage readers to take the MBTI test immediately.
B. To explain the development of the MBTI test and its limitations.
C. To prove that all personality tests are useless and unreliable.
D. To compare the MBTI test with other psychological tools.

A new study from UNC School of Medicine researchers, published in Neuron, reveals how junk food negatively affects memory, increasing the risk of cognitive disorders.
Led by UNC School of Medicine's Juan Song and Taylor Landry, researchers found that a special group of brain cells in the hippocampus (海马体), called CCK interneurons (神经元), become overly active after eating a high-fat diet (HFD), due to a damaged ability of the brain to receive glucose (sugar). This overactivity disturbs how the hippocampus processes memory, even after just a few days of high fat diet.
"We knew that diet and metabolism (新陈代谢) could affect brain health, but we didn't expect to find such a specific group of brain cells, CCK interneurons in the hippocampus, that were directly disrupted by short-term high-fat diet exposure," Song said, who is a member of the UNC Neuroscience Center. "What surprised us most was how quickly these cells changed their activity in response to reduced glucose availability, and how this shift alone was enough to damage memory."
Research findings also highlight how sensitive memory circuits are to diet, underscoring the importance of nutrition in maintaining brain health. "This study highlights how what we eat can rapidly affect brain health and how early interventions, whether through fasting or medicine, could protect memory and lower the risk of long-term cognitive problems linked to obesity and metabolic disorders," said Song. "In the long run, such strategies could help reduce the growing burden of dementia (痴呆) and Alzheimer's linked to metabolic disorders, offering more holistic care that addresses the whole person, both body and brain."
This research is ongoing to further understand how these glucose-sensitive neurons disrupt brain rhythms that support memory. Researchers plan to explore lifestyle-based interventions, such as dietary patterns that stabilize brain glucose, to see if they offer protective benefits.
32. What can we infer about CCK interneurons
A. They are sensitive to HFD.
B. They are irrelevant to memory.
C. They get overactive on glucose.
D. They improve memory function.
33. Which finding went beyond Song's initial assumptions
A. Diet influences brain health.
B. Metabolism links to brain health.
C. HFD affects CCK cells quickly.
D. CCK cells exist in the hippocampus.
34. What does the underlined word "holistic" mean
A. Physical. B. Mental. C. Preventive. D. Comprehensive.
35. What is the suitable title for the passage
A. High-fat Diets Cause Obesity
B. Junk Food Damages Memory
C. Glucose Restores Brain Health
D. CCK Neurons Cause Memory Loss

In today's digital age, screens are an unavoidable part of daily life. However, excessive screen time can affect both physical and mental health, especially for students. 36 The good news is that here are five practical tips to help you.
Set clear screen time limits and stick to them. The first step to mindful screen use is setting specific limits for different types of screen activities. Use the screen time tracking features on your phone or computer to monitor your usage, and set alarms to remind you when the time is up. 37
38 For instance, make your study desk a screen-free zone except for online learning, and set the time from 7 PM to 9 PM as a screen-free period for the whole family. During these times, you can read a physical book, have a conversation with your family, or do some light exercise.
Replace screen activities with offline alternatives. Many students turn to screens when they feel bored, stressed, or have free time. Instead of reaching for your phone or tablet, find offline activities that bring you joy and keep your mind active. 39 Replacing screen time with offline activities not only reduces your device usage but also helps you rediscover hobbies and develop new skills.
40 Every time your phone pings or vibrates (震动), your attention is pulled away from what you are doing. To avoid this, turn off all non-essential notifications on your devices. This simple change can greatly improve your focus.
A. Create screen-free zones and times at home.
B. Keep your study space free from electronic devices.
C. These small acts of self-discipline will pay off over time.
D. They can help you stay away from digital devices forever.
E. Constant notifications are distractions that break your focus.
F. If you want to relax, choose activities like yoga or walking outdoors.
G. It can cause eye tiredness and a significant drop in focus and productivity.

"Vacation at last!" Meg said excitedly, coming home to find Jo lying on the sofa. "What will you do with your vacation " Meg asked. "Sit in the apple tree and read!" Jo replied. "I'll stay in bed late and do nothing," Meg said.
Then they begged their mother, Mrs. March, to allow them to spend a whole week doing whatever they wanted — and she agreed with a gentle smile, saying they could try this experiment for a week.
The next morning, Meg got up at ten o'clock and ate breakfast alone. Jo read in the apple tree throughout the afternoon. That evening, they assured their mother that the experiment was going well. She smiled, said nothing, and did her work, keeping their home pleasant and running smoothly.
But as the days dragged on, the girls began to feel the impact. Meg became bored and started carelessly cutting and spoiling her dresses, trying to make them more fashionable. Jo read until her eyes ached and she was sick of books.
On Saturday morning, the girls woke up to find no breakfast and no sign of their mother. Meg hurried upstairs and soon came back, relieved yet slightly ashamed, telling her sister their mother was just exhausted, and would rest for the day. They would have to take care of themselves and handle all the housework and meals. They made her a badly cooked breakfast, but she thanked them warmly anyway. Jo made lunch: she boiled the vegetables for too long, burnt the bread, and even put salt on the strawberries instead of sugar. Meg and Jo were then busy for the whole afternoon, tidying, cleaning, and doing groceries in the town.

1. B
原文中男士说“I was waiting for my dish soup at home but I got a message, saying it was delivered to my company.” 正确选项B(To his company)是对原文“delivered to my company”的直接复现。
2. A
原文中女士说“I go to this climbing park every Wednesday and Saturday.” 语音提示:注意“Wednesday and Saturday”之间的and弱读为/n/。
3. C
原文中女士说“Eating meat all the time gets boring sometimes.” C(She is tired of eating meat)是对原文的同义转述。A项on a diet和B项fond of vegetables均未在对话中提及,属于无中生有。
4. B
原文中女士说“Buying all the tools was barely cost effective, but it's worth it.” 正确选项B(It is worthwhile)是对“worth it”的同义替换。
5. B
原文中男士说“Older films help you understand how people made media in different times.” B(They can reflect media making)是对原文的概括归纳。A项“outdated”和C项“just show historical information”均与男士表达的观点不符。
6. A
原文中女士说“Excuse me, you've stared at this painting for ages.”
7. C
原文中男士说“the description says she draws inspiration from natural light.” A项modern style虽在对话中出现(“Impressionist style with a modern touch”),但并非画家的灵感来源。
8. C
原文中女士说“I actively use five of them, but I have eight of them.” 干扰项诊断:B项8在对话中女士明确说“I have eight of them”,但紧接着补充“I actively use five”,区分了“拥有”和“活跃使用”。
9. A
语音提示:注意“drive you crazy”中drive与you的连读以及crazy的重音。
10. C
原文中女士说“It's like you checking your mail ten times a day, which is crazy for me.” 语音提示:注意“checking your mail”中checking的/ /音与your连读。
11. C
12. A
原文中女士说“It'll rain lightly from Friday night to Saturday morning, but clear up by noon.” 正确选项A(Rainy and cool)中的rainy对应原文“rain lightly”,cool对应后文“bring a light jacket”的暗示。
13. A
原文中女士说“So we can leave after lunch instead of early morning.” 干扰项诊断:B项和C项均出现在对话末尾男士的话中(“I'll also pack some waterproof bags”),而非女士的建议。
14. A
原文中女士说“Let's check the menu... start with a salad”,男士回应“the dressings here are loaded with sugar and fat”。
15. C
原文中男士说“the dressings here are loaded with sugar and fat. You might want to skip it.” A项great和B项cheap均未在对话中体现。语音提示:注意“loaded with”中loaded的/ d/与with连读。
16. A
原文中男士建议喝水(“Water is a safer bet”),女士最后说“I'll just do a plain salad. Water and skip dessert.”
17. B
独白中明确说“It traveled at 800 kilometers per hour.”
18. B
独白中说“the Chinese Embassy in Indonesia also bought some supplies locally which will be taken to the earthquake area.” A项set up temporary hospitals是印尼军队的行为。C项sent a team of people是德国公司的行为。
19. A
独白中说“More medical supplies are needed immediately.”
20. C
独白最后说“call us at 83-098-772 for more information.”
21. C
定位与转化:第一段末尾明确陈述“GoEco's program invites volunteers to protect the Great Barrier Reef, help its marine species and take practical action to preserve this wonderful natural environment for future generations.” 原文说protect the Great Barrier Reef、help its marine species、preserve natural environment,选项C将三者整合为“protect the Great Barrier Reef and its marine life”。
B项train professional divers是对“Suitable for both beginners and fully certified divers”的曲解,program接受认证潜水员但不以培训为目的。
22. C
定位与转化:Program Schedule部分说“Volunteers will receive comprehensive training upon arrival.” 正确选项C是对原文的同义替换,receive training after arrival = receive training upon arrival。
干扰项拆解:A项与“Suitable for both beginners and fully certified divers”矛盾,program对初学者开放。 D项与“within walking distance of the beach”矛盾,住宿离海滩很近。
23. D
24. C
定位与转化:第一段说在返回Stanford的途中女儿反复问“How much longer ” 第二段当她认出熟悉的路段时“let out a cry of longing”,并反复喊“Home! Home!”
26. A
定位与转化:第四段作者说“I have a hard time answering the question of where I am 'from'.”
干扰项拆解:B项失去与童年朋友的联系,文中说“friendships built to last did so by letter”,说明靠信件维系,并非失去联系。
27. C
定位与转化:最后一段作者意识到“this place grounds us, my daughter and me... and it connects us to each other.”
D项长期居住产生所有权感,作者明确说“none of us ever really owns the land”。
28. B
定位与转化:第二段说“The test result is based on four sets of opposing qualities”并列举四组对立特质,随后说“Gu Ailing's result of INTJ is one of the 16 possible personality types.”
29. C
定位与转化:第三段说“Many companies and organizations use it when hiring or evaluating staff to help them select people for certain roles.”
32. A
CCK interneurons “become overly active after eating a high-fat diet (HFD)”。
干扰项拆解:B项与记忆无关,第二段明确说“This overactivity disturbs how the hippocampus processes memory”,与记忆密切相关。
33. C
定位与转化:第三段Song说“What surprised us most was how quickly these cells changed their activity... and how this shift alone was enough to damage memory.”
干扰项拆解:A项饮食影响大脑健康,Song说“We knew that diet... could affect brain health”,这是已知知识。
34. D
词义猜测:第四段说“holistic care that addresses the whole person, both body and brain”。
36-40: G C A F E
36. G 空前说“excessive screen time can affect both physical and mental health”,空后说“here are five practical tips”。G项“It can cause eye tiredness and a significant drop in focus and productivity”具体说明过度屏幕时间造成的具体危害,完美承接上文的影响描述,自然引出下文的解决建议。
C项“These small acts of self-discipline will pay off over time”中的These small acts指代前文的setting limits和setting alarms,是对整段方法的总结和鼓励。 (These → setting limits and alarms)。
38. A 本段讲在特定时间和空间设定无屏幕区域(study desk、7 PM to 9 PM)。A项“Create screen-free zones and times at home”准确概括本段主旨,且zones对应desk,times对应时间段。
空前说“find offline activities that bring you joy”,F项“If you want to relax, choose activities like yoga or walking outdoors”提供具体的线下活动建议,与空前的泛泛建议形成从抽象到具体的递进。
空后说“Every time your phone pings or vibrates, your attention is pulled away”,E项“Constant notifications are distractions that break your focus”直接点出通知与分心的关系,与空后内容形成总—分结构。
41-45: B D A C B 46-50: A C C A B 51-55: D B A A D
41. B 空前说“thought they'd won the final until their coach... called them to the gym”,教练召集之前她们以为赢了并已庆祝过。
42. D 后文提到“discovered a key mistake”“counted every point on his notebook”,说明教练是通过回看比赛录像发现了计分错误。
43. A 空后说“until the fourth quarter, when Apache pulled away by 14 points”,说明前三节比分胶着。 on and off意为“断断续续”,left and right意为“到处”,in and out意为“进进出出”,均不描述比分。
gut was correct意为“直觉是正确的”,与后文“Academy had lost the game by a point”形成因果关系。
51. D 教练说“but we need to fix this”,fix意为“纠正、处理”,指纠正误领奖杯的错误。
54. A 后文说“for whom it was the last shot at a title before graduation”,这是毕业前最后一次夺冠机会,说明该球员是毕业班学生。
56. surprising 57. for 58. representing 59. are priced 60. popularity
61. intensely 62. and 63. that 64. to highlight 65. its
surprise的形容词形式有surprising(令人惊讶的)和surprised(感到惊讶的),此处描述source(来源)的性质,故用surprising。
62. and 判断依据:空前为“pure competition, strong local pride”,空后为“the genuine excitement”,三者构成并列关系,共同作fuels的宾语,故用and连接最后一个并列项。
63. that 判断依据:is后为表语从句,从句“many cities create... each region”结构完整、语义完整,故用that引导,that在从句中不作成分。
避坑提示:不能填it's,it's是it is或it has的缩写。
A Wonderful Class Meeting
Last week, our class held a meaningful class meeting themed “Health First.”
The activity first began with an interesting fun quiz to test our health condition, both physical and mental. It was followed by lively discussions where we shared with great passion our ideas on the importance of a balanced diet and regular exercise. Finally, everyone put forward their plans to build up health.
I found the meeting truly inspiring. It reminded me that health is the foundation of success. From now on, I am determined to develop a healthier lifestyle and value my well-being.
活动过程(分值约6分):范文用“first began with... followed by... Finally...”
个人感想(分值约6分):范文用“truly inspiring”表达态度,用“health is the foundation”阐述认识,用“determined to develop a healthier lifestyle”表达决心。
Paragraph 1: In the evening, Meg and Jo sat on the sofa, sighed and felt regretful. They talked about how silly they had been to waste the vacation doing nothing but idling away time. They realized their mother's daily work was far from easy—keeping the house tidy and preparing meals took so much effort. Jo thought back to the burnt bread and the salted strawberries, and her face flushed with embarrassment. Jo apologized for being lazy, and Meg felt ashamed of spoiling her dresses. They made a promise to take good care of their mother and never be lazy again.
Paragraph 2: The next morning, the two girls got up with the first light. They tiptoed into the kitchen and quietly began preparing breakfast. Meg set the table carefully while Jo made tea and toast. When Mrs. March came downstairs, she found a warm meal waiting and two smiling daughters ready to help. “Thank you, my dears,” she said, her eyes glistening with tears. From that day on, Meg and Jo never again took their mother's hard work for granted. They learned that true rest comes not from doing nothing, but from doing something meaningful for those you love.
段落开头语利用:第一段开头语“sat on the sofa, sighed and felt regretful”后,范文用“talked about how silly they had been”直接承接,将情绪转化为言语反思。第二段开头语“got up with the first light”后,范文用“tiptoed into the kitchen”描绘具体行动,将时间状语转化为情节推动力。
“her face flushed with embarrassment”:用具体神态描写表现Jo的羞愧,比直接说“she felt ashamed”更生动。
“true rest comes not from doing nothing, but from doing something meaningful for those you love”:结尾句点明主题,将具体事件升华为人生道理,完成故事的主题表达。

Text 6(第6、7题)
W: Excuse me, you've stared at this painting for ages. Do you find it interesting
M: Yes, it's by local artist Sarah Lee. She uses light and shadow to create movement, even though the scene is still. It's like Impressionist style with a modern touch.
W: Oh right! The description says she draws inspiration from natural light and paints at different times for changing shadows.
M: No wonder it feels so alive. That detail makes the painting even more special.
Text 7(第8至10题)
M: Jen, you do like text messaging, LINE, WhatsApp
W: Yeah, Todd, all of that.
M: All of that. How many accounts do you have actively, that you actively use
W: Wait. Maybe ... I actively use five of them, but I have eight of them, yeah.
M: Wow, you can imagine that. The reason I don't do it, I imagine that you just must get a message like every 20 seconds.
W: Not every 20 seconds, unless you're dating, but yeah, you get a lot of messages.
M: Really And that doesn't drive you crazy That doesn't like bother you
W: I think in the beginning it was like too much, but now we have just gotten like used to it. It's just very normal for us. It's like you checking your mail ten times a day, which is crazy for me.
Text 8(第11至13题)
W: Hi Tom! What's your plan for this Saturday
M: I'm going to climb the northern mountains with some friends. I hope it won't rain—we've planned this for weeks.
W: I checked the weather forecast this morning. It'll rain lightly from Friday night to Saturday morning, but clear up by noon. The temperature will be around 18 to 25℃, with a light wind in the afternoon.
M: Perfect! So we can leave after lunch instead of early morning. That way, we'll avoid the rain and enjoy the sunny afternoon.
W: Exactly. And the air will be fresher after the rain—great for mountain climbing. Don't forget to bring a light jacket, though. It might be a bit cool.
M: Got it. I'll also pack some waterproof bags just in case.
Text 9(第14至16题)
W: Let's check the menu. I'm trying to eat healthier, so I think I'll start with a salad. What do you think
M: Hm Salads are great, but the dressings here are loaded with sugar and fat. You might want to skip it.
W: Right. Good point. Then maybe I'll get some fruit juice to drink instead.
M: Most stores bought juices have barely any real fruit and are full of sugar. Water is a safer bet.
W: Okay, for dessert I was thinking fat free yogurt.
M: Wait. Fat free yogurt often has extra sugar added to make up for the lost flavor. Too much sugar isn't any better for you than fat.
W: Wow. So I'll just do a plain salad. Water and skip dessert. What about you
M: I was gonna order a double burger, but fine, I'll copy your healthy order. Let's go the same.
Text 10(第17至20题)
W: Good morning, and thank you for tuning in to the Weather Channel. We provide international weather information 24 hours a day. On September 28th, a very large earthquake shook the island of Sulawesi in Indonesia. As a result, a tsunami wave that was about 2.5 meters high hit the island of Palu. It traveled at 800 kilometers per hour, and destroyed everything in its path. This is a big disaster, with many of the survivors being left homeless, without food and clean water. More than 1,500 people have died and many more are hurt. Several countries promised to send aid, and now help is starting to come. China's first aid shipment has already arrived at the airport of Kalimantan Island. The aid mainly consists of tents and water treatment equipment. More goods from China are planned in the next few days. Besides the aid coming from China, the Chinese Embassy in Indonesia also bought some supplies locally which will be taken to the earthquake area. The US has promised to send help, and a major German company has sent a team of people to help rescue people. The Indonesian army has set up temporary hospitals to help with all of the people who are sick and hurt. More medical supplies are needed immediately. If you can help in any way, you should send us an email or call us at 83-098-772 for more information.
