popular worldwide. It is from a Chinese classic, Journey to the West. To recreate the buildings in the book, the

game’s developers traveled across the country and set up China’s first virtual (虚拟) library of ancient buildings.
Among the buildings, Yingxian Wooden Tower stands out. a .
②Built in 1056 during the Liao Dynasty, the tower has experienced earthquakes, wars, and other challenges,
but still stands strong. Weighing over 7,400 tons and reaching 67.31 meters (as tall as a 20-floor building), it is the
world’s tallest and oldest wooden tower. Together with the Eiffel Tower in France and the Leaning Tower of Pisa in
Italy, it is seen as one of the top “Three Towers in the World”. Local stories say it was built by Lu Ban.
③Expert Liang Sicheng was amazed when he first visited the tower. By using mortise-and-tenon structure (榫

the tower is octagonal and has windows on all eight sides. This provides beautiful views and keeps the wood dry
and safe from insects at the same time.
④ c . So for its protection, only the first floor is open to tourists. But in April, AI technology has created a
3D model in just 10 hours. Now, visitors can virtually climb to the higher floors. This shows China’s creative
efforts in protecting its culture.
⑤Besides, Zhao Yushan, 63, has spent most of his life replicating the Yingxian Wooden Tower, a dream
which his father once stopped but never dies. To build this smaller model is never easy, but now he is working on
the third floor, with six more to finish. He says it’s his dream to keep the beauty of the tower.

It was a quiet evening at Styles Court, a big old house in the countryside in the UK. The villagers were in the
living room after dinner, enjoying tea and conversation. Among them was Hercule Poirot, a famous Belgian
detective (侦探), who was invited to stay at the house by his friend John Cavendish.
Suddenly, people heard a loud shout from upstairs. Everyone rushed to the noise and found Mrs. Inglethorp,
the old mistress (女主人) of the house, lying on the floor of her bedroom. Beside her was a broken cup and a small
bottle with the word “Strychnine”—a deadly poison (毒药).
Poirot quickly took control. He checked the room carefully, noticing that the window was half open and a set
of footprints led to the bed. He also found a piece of paper in the rubbish bin with the words “Meet me at the

This year is the Year of the Snake. You might think snakes are scary, but in Chinese history, they have been
important symbols. They stood for high social status, rebirth, a connection between humans and gods and even
wisdom.
In the Erlitou Culture (18th-16th centuries BC), snake images were often found on beautiful artifacts. One
amazing discovery is a long, snake-like animal made of over 2,000 turquoise(绿松石) pieces. Experts think it could
be a dragon or a snake, and snakes might have inspired the idea of dragons. These turquoise pieces were usually
found in the tombs of high status, showing the sacred role of snakes at that time.
From the Shang Dynasty (c.16th century–11th century BC), people believed the universe had three parts, with
gods in heaven(天堂), humans on earth, and the underworld being the place of the dead. When people saw snakes
digging into the underground, they thought snakes could connect humans, the dead, and the gods because they
could go underground. Images of humans with snake bodies were created to show the ability to cross between life
and death. Nuwa, the goddess who created the world, was half-human and half-snake. She used her powers to fix
the sky and keep nature in order. So, snakes have always been linked to protection and the idea of a never-ending
universe, which also suggests the important role the snakes play in ancient people’s culture.
第 13页/共 22页
Due to their ability to shed skin(蜕 ), snakes were also connected with rebirth. In ancient people’s eyes, the
snakes seemed to have died, but then they shed their skin and came back to life. This showed the idea of starting
over after death. So, snakes symbolized life, death, and change. This idea is important in Chinese art, myths, and
religions. Snake images are often found in temples and artifacts to show that life keeps going and can change.
Snakes have lived on earth for over 100 million years and have always been part of Chinese culture. In a
legend, the snake was the sixth animal to reach the Heavenly Gate, so it became part of the zodiac symbol(生肖).
And snakes are called little dragon to show people’s love for them. People born in the Year of the Snake are
thought to be smart and good at adapting(调整 ,适应). They can use their wisdom and willpower to handle life’s
challenges.

Good morning, everyone! Today I’d like to share how students can use AI tools wisely to grow and stay
competitive.
First, AI helps us work out difficult problems. It can guide us step by step, but we shouldn’t copy answers
directly. Instead, we should learn the logic to improve our abilities. Second, AI helps practice English by correcting
our expressions and pronunciation, but it can’t take the place of real human communication. Most importantly, AI
can’t replace creative thinking or teamwork. Real creativity and cooperation come from us.
In short, we should use AI efficiently, keep learning creatively, and value teamwork. Only in this way can
we be competitive in the future.
Thank you!
