Amy, a middle school student, tried a new way to learn about history — she took an online tour of the China Grand Canal Museum. “My history teacher told us that Yangzhou has a deep connection with the Grand Canal,” Amy said. “Since I couldn’t visit the museum in person, the online tour was a perfect choice.”
The China Grand Canal Museum has a user-friendly website. When Amy entered it, she saw a virtual gate that looked just like the real museum’s entrance. By clicking the mouse, she could “walk” into different exhibition halls. In the “Canal and City Hall”, there were 3D models showing how Yangzhou grew into a busy city because of the Grand Canal. She could even zoom in to look at small details, like old boats and ancient shops along the river.
Amy’s favourite part was the “Virtual Experience Hall”. There, she put on her headphones and watched a short video. It felt like she was sitting on a boat, sailing along the ancient canal and passing Yangzhou’s old bridges. “I could almost hear the water and the sound of people selling snacks by the river,” she said.
The online museum also has a “Knowledge Test” section. After Amy finished her tour, she took a short quiz about the Grand Canal’s history. When she answered a question correctly, a little cartoon character popped up to cheer for her. “It made learning fun, not boring at all,” Amy smiled.
At the end of the tour, Amy saved a digital postcard from the museum. It had a picture of the Grand Canal at sunset. “I want to visit the real museum in person one day,” she said. “But this online tour has already taught me so much about the city’s history.”

“Mr Holmes, please help me!” she cried. “My diamond necklace was stolen during my birthday party last night! My father gave it to me before he passed away. It’s priceless!”

Green’s face turned red. “I… I needed money! I climbed in through the window and hid the necklace in my coat!”
The Resolution (真相大白)
Holmes took the necklace from Green’s pocket. Clara hugged it tightly, her eyes filled with happy tears. “Thank you, Mr Holmes! How did you know ”

Most children have wonderful toys to play with. Usually their parents buy these toys for them, often as Christmas or birthday gifts. Some children buy small toys with their pocket money. But instead of buying toys, one fun way to get new toys is to make them.
The easiest toy to make is a kite. For a kite, all you need is a large piece of paper, two sticks, some string and some glue. Take the two sticks and use the string to join them together in the centre. Then take a string and tie it to the ends of the sticks to make string square. Cut the paper to make it the same size as the square. Finally, stick the paper to the string square with glue. Now your kite is finished. All you need to do is to tie a long string to the kite and then you can fly it.
In many countries, they have kite-building competitions. Hundreds of people come together to show off their kites. In one famous competition, some of the kites are more than three metres tall. Many strong men use ropes instead of string to fly them.

根据“A clam (蛤蜊) and a snipe (沙锥) fought on a beach. The bird wanted to eat the clam, but the clam didn’t want to be eaten.” 故选A。
根据“If we fight with the Yan Kingdom, the big Qin army would join the war later. We and the Yan would be weak from our battles. The Qin would defeat both of us.”

故填its。
because of意为“因为”。故填of。
故填an。
根据“Each step requires great skills and rich experience...the special quality of the tea.” 故填to keep。
根据“...people gather to drink spring tea, they often have deep conversations and enjoy the moment of peace.” 故填When。

One possible version
Hi, everyone. I’m a student in Grade 8 from Sunshine Middle School. We will have a Reading Week in our school.
It’s important and necessary for us to read. When we read, it opens our minds to new ideas and worlds. In addition, reading improves our language skills and helps us think more clearly. I read for 30 minutes every night before sleep. I visit our school library weekly to borrow books, and sometimes I buy them from bookstores.
My favourite book is The Little Prince. This fairy tale tells the story of a prince who travels across planets. Through his journey, we learn about love, friendship, and what truly matters in life. Its simple words hide deep meanings that touch my heart every time.
Just read it for yourself! I’m sure you’ll like it. That’s all for my speech. Thank you!
