1. Do you know the book Anne from Green Gables
Anne of Green Gables is a classic novel by a Canadian author Lucy Maud Montgomery.
《绿山墙的安妮》
Cultural note
《绿山墙的安妮》是加拿大女作家露西·莫德·蒙哥马利创作的长篇小说，创作于1904—1906年，1908年首次出版。
小说讲述了绿山墙农舍的一对兄妹马修和玛莉拉决定领养一个男孩，帮着干田里的农活。令人大吃一惊的是，孤儿院送来了一个爱幻想、喋喋不休的红发女孩。这个红发小精灵般的女孩叫安妮，天性活泼乐观，想象力极为丰富。她的天真和幻想使她闹了不少笑话，但她的善良和直率也使她赢得了友谊和真挚的爱。她爱生活、爱自然、爱周围的每一个人。她聪明而勤奋，凭着自己的努力考取了大学，但为了照顾玛莉拉，她放弃了学业。 该小说成功地刻画了孤儿安妮·雪莉的感人形象。作品对儿童、少女形象的刻画尤见功底。同时，作者对爱德华太子岛自然美景的诗意描写、对乡村淳朴生活的刻画，以及优美而充满幽默的文笔，也是作品的魅力所在。

She was angry because her son broke the promise and came home late without calling her. However, when she learned that her son had helped an old woman, she was proud of his kindness and the sense of responsibility.

To the mother: Try to listen to your child's explanation first before getting angry. Good communication needs patience from both sides.
