三、阅读理解
There is an elephant living in a forest. It is very beautiful and clever. When people get lost in the forest, it usually helps them, so people in the countryside all like it very much.
One day, a young man comes to the countryside. He knows the elephant from the farmers and he wants to catch it. Then he goes to the forest and looks for the elephant. After two days, he sees the elephant and runs after it. But the elephant runs so fast that the young man can’t catch it. The elephant runs to avoid the young man from morning to night. It is too tired to move on. It hides (藏) itself behind the trees. So the young man can’t see the elephant.
After some time, the young man gets lost in the forest and he falls into a pool. No one can help him out. The elephant sees that and saves him. They are things like, “If you watch TV a lot, you’ll get square eyes”, “If you eat carrots, you’ll see well in the dark”, or “If you eat cheese at night, you’ll have bad dreams”. But are they nonsense (荒谬的) or sometimes a little bit true Let’s find out more.

It shows that if people over 50 eat an apple a day, they have smaller chances to have heart attacks (心脏病) than those who don’t.
