him a choice: “You may go to jail (监狱), or you may go to Camp Green Lake.” Stanley had never been to camp
before. He came from a poor family, and the idea of going to camp sounded much better than jail. Without thinking
twice, he chose Camp Green Lake.
But Camp Green Lake was not like any camp Stanley had imagined. It was a place for boys who had done bad
things. There was no lake or forest—just a dry and hot desert. Every day, each boy had to dig a hole in the hard,
rocky ground. The holes had to be five feet wide and five feet deep. The officers said it was to build character, but
Stanley soon realized there was more to it.
One day, while digging under the blazing sun, Stanley’s shovel (铲子) hit something hard. He brushed away
the dirt and found a small, metal tube with the letters “KB” on it. Curious (好奇的), he showed it to his officer, Mr.
Sir, who seemed very interested. “Keep digging,” Mr. Sir said sharply. “Maybe you’ll find more.”
Stanley began to wonder why they were really digging these holes. Was it just to build character, or was there
something hidden under the ground He decided to keep the tube a secret and find out more. As he continued
digging, he couldn’t shake the feeling that Camp Green Lake held a mystery waiting to be uncovered.

With dangerous temperatures, many people went to the store to pick up extra food and blankets. But for many
seniors, that’s simply impossible. Programs like Meals on Wheels deliver food and make sure everyone has what
they need to stay warm.
As temperatures hit a record low today, the task of Meals on Wheels volunteers is even more important as they
pack up hot meals.
“It needs to be done, so like I said, I’ve been doing it for four years. Winter, summer, I haven’t stopped,” said
Kishore Chukkla, a volunteer with Meals on Wheels.
Richard Henry, 70, is one of those seniors who needs a meal delivery. For him, it means a lot. “Of course. As
a veteran (退伍老兵) and as someone who’s up in age, it’s always good to know that there are people out there
who really care and who really think about you. Because when you get old, people are likely to forget about you,”
Henry said.
On days when the temperature gets dangerously low, Meals on Wheels volunteers must brave the cold to
check on those who need help.
“It’s hard for people that are homebound to get out on a nice day, let alone a day like this, so it is surely
important for us to make sure that they have the food that they need, that someone is checking on them, to make
sure that they have heat and that it’s turned on,” said Austin.
“When you have a volunteer, good people take the time to volunteer to do this. I don’t know what most people
think about it, but I appreciate it,” Henry said.
Meals on Wheels still needs more help. They’re looking for volunteers, so if you want to lend a hand, please
visit volunteer.vnatexas.org to learn more.
62. What kind of text type is this passage
A. A story. B. A scientific study. C. A news report. D. A diary.
63. What does the underlined word homebound in Paragraph 6 probably mean
A. Unable to leave home. B. Willing to stay at home.
C. Ready to leave home. D. Sad to change home.
第 10页/共 21页
64. What is the purpose of the last paragraph
A. To tell people how to become a volunteer.
B. To encourage more people to volunteer.
C. To introduce the website of Meals on Wheels.
D. To show that Meals on Wheels is short of money.
65. What can we infer from the passage
A. Henry is one of the volunteers of Meals on Wheels.
B. Meals on Wheels has been set up for four years.
C. It’s easy for old people to shop with the help of volunteers.
D. If Henry were young enough, he would like to be one of the volunteers.

第Ⅱ卷(共 45分)
Ⅵ.任务型阅读。(75-76小题,每小题 2分,77-78小题,每小题 3分,共 10分)
The 2025 Two Sessions (两会) were held from March 4 to March 11. Deputies to the National People’
Congress (全国人大代表) and members of the National Committe of the Chinese Peope’s Political Consultative
Conference (全国政协委员) got together in Beijing. They gave advice on important issues (议题) in our country.
What issues do students care about We invited some to share their ideas.
I’d like to share an idea to encourage environmental protection education in schools.
Right now, the environment faces serious challenges. There are more hot days, and the air
in some cities is not clean. However, many students don’t know much about these problems.
To change this, schools should offer environmental protection lessons, organize activities
such as planting trees and cleaning up city streets and invite experts to give talks.
It’s important to think about the future of our planet. If students learn about environmental
protection from a young age, they will develop better habits.
Jane,14, Chongqing
第 13页/共 21页
In today’s fast-paced world, some young people are losing close connections with their
relatives, a trend known as “断亲”(losing family ties). Many students spend more time on their
studies or social media. So they hardly ever visit their grandparents or other relatives. This
weakens family bonds and makes traditional values less important in their lives.
In order to help students value their family relationships, families should organize
gatherings and encourage children to spend time with their relatives. Simple actions like visiting
grandparents on weekends or making phone calls can make people closer.
Family is a source of love and support. Keeping close relationships with relatives helps us
understand our roots and builds a stronger sense of belonging (归属感).
David, 15, Beijing
Although AI helps students learn more easily, it also brings some problems. Some students
use AI to do their homework instead of thinking by themselves. This makes learning less
effective and weakens their problem-solving skills. What’s worse, teachers may find it hard to
know whether students’ work is truly their own.
To solve this problem, our country should set clear rules on AI use in learning. With clear
rules, students can learn better and become more capable of learning on their own. Teachers can
ask students to write original stories, create artwork with things found in daily life, or come up
with solutions to real-life problems. This type of homework helps students develop their
creativity. Also, students can use AI at home under their parents’ guidance. With the help of
parents, students can use AI wisely.

例文
I Can Be a Hero in Daily Life
I believe everyone can be a hero by helping others in daily life. Firstly, I can learn first aid to help classmates
in need. For example, if someone gets hurt, I can offer basic help. Secondly, I plan to join volunteer activities, like
giving away books to poor children. It can bring them knowledge and happiness. Lastly, I will try to do small good
deeds, such as cleaning the classroom.
These actions are meaningful. They not only make others’ lives better but also make me feel warm and useful.
By doing so, we can create a more friendly community. Let’s learn from Lei Feng and be good teenagers in the new
era!
