I remember getting ready for school one morning when the radio host announced (宣布) that he was going to
play the latest single by the Beatles. I rushed downstairs as fast as I could to get nearer to the radio. This was 1965
and the whole country was in a state of “Beatlemania”... and I was their biggest fan! I turned up the volume (音量)
and stood staring at the radio, holding my breath and waiting for the first notes of the song.
It was definitely the Beatles. Paul McCartney’s voice was unmistakable but the sound was different. When the
song finished, I stood not knowing whether I liked it or not. However, this was not unusual. Different beats and
tunes meant that it took time for me to enjoy the beauty of the song. Once I did, I knew I would love the song
forever. As their biggest fan, I couldn’t wait to hear this song again and again until it became my favorite song from
my favorite band.
During the 1960s, the Beatles were not just a band; they were a force for change. They burst onto the music
scene in 1962 as four young men with unique haircuts. They immediately caught the attention of young people and
soon the youth of the country were attracted by joyful rock and roll music and hopes for a better future.
Today, my collection includes every record made by the Beatles. I truly love their music. Whenever I listen to
She Loves You, I am immediately taken back to my teenage years. I can picture my bedroom decorated with posters
of the Fab Four and I can see myself riding my bicycle through country roads singing “yeah, yeah, yeah” at the top
of my voice. Yes, the Beatles’ music has been with me all my life. It has helped me look to the future with
expectation and now it helps me reflect on my life with quiet satisfaction.

7. What can be inferred about the author based on the record collection
A. He gets the records easily. B. He values the band deeply.

Plogging is the perfect way to do some exercise while doing good for the planet. It is one of the latest fitness
trends (趋势), but it stands out from the rest because it’s good for your health and the environment. It is simple to
do jogging while picking up litter around. It’s a good idea for your community to get people active and together.
Plogging is very new, beginning in Stockholm, Sweden, in 2016, when Swedish athlete Erik Ahlstr m started
picking up litter while out jogging. Ahlstr m became frustrated with how much litter he saw everywhere on his
way to work, so he decided to pick it up. Then the city organized a “Plogga”, which mixes jogging or “jogga” in
Swedish with “plocka upp”, which means to pick up. It’s a popular movement that quickly became successful.
Since 2016, millions of people have gone plogging, which shows a positive change for wellness and the
environment. Over 100 countries are now taking part in this interesting and helpful fitness trend, and plogging
events have attracted over 3 million people. It makes sense this trend has taken off with social media and
word-of-mouth movements and with environmental sustainability (可持续性) and plastic pollution being such
important hot topics in recent years.
Cleaner environment makes people more encouraged to exercise outside. Along with a cleaner environment,
plogging gives us all the advantages of jogging, such as improving fitness and lowering blood pressure. In one
study, researchers said that plogging and jogging are similar in terms of energy use, and plogging could help
exercising burn fat. When you go plogging, the jogging part is like a fun workout for your heart, and all the moves
you do to pick up litter work different muscles (肌肉) in your body. Carrying a bag of litter could also help you
build arm muscle over time. Plogging can cheer you up, and you’ll feel a sense of success and community.
8. What makes plogging different from other fitness trends
第 5页/共 17页
A. It is environmentally friendly. B. It is a group activity.

9. What does the underlined word “frustrated” in paragraph 2 probably mean
A. Calm. B. Regretful. C. Upset. D. Awkward.
10. Why has plogging spread so quickly around the world
A. Famous athletes joined the trend first.
B. It is included in some international events.
C. It has solved plastic pollution problems in Sweden.
D. Modern communication and public focus helped.
11. What does the last paragraph mainly talk about
A. Effects of environment on workout. B. Reasons why people should try plogging.
C. Main steps to start a plogging activity. D. Ways to improve community relationship.

Close to the famous Aswan Dam, the Temple of Philae, on the small island of Aguilkya, attracts visitors to the
history of ancient Egypt.
Aboard his small boat, Ahmed Yehia sails peacefully towards this treasure of Egyptian heritage, which is in
the heart of the ancient Nubian lands. “Just next door, I discovered Bigeh, a magical island, deserted by its islanders
several years before. I wanted to help bring back people and animals that used to live there while creating value in a

Ahmed Yehia says.

September arrived with cool air and new starts. As a freshman at Westwood High, I felt lost until I met Mia.
We became friends right away — sharing lunch tables, laughing through boring classes, and walking home
together every day. “You’re like the sister I never had,” Mia said one afternoon, smiling as we sat under our
favorite big tree. I nodded, feeling happy. For a month, we told each other everything—dreams, worries. Life felt
perfect.
Problems came when my diary disappeared. I’d left it on my desk during gym class, and when I came back, it
was gone. I was worried — my deepest secrets were inside. Later, I saw Mia talking quietly with Sarah, the girl
who always gave me mean looks. Mia looked at me, then quickly looked away. “Did you see my diary ” I asked,
my voice shaking. Mia’s eyes got big. “No, I … I haven’t seen it.” But her hands shook as she spoke. I felt a bad
feeling in my stomach. Sarah smiled in a mean way, and I knew — Mia had taken it.
I stayed away from Mia completely. At lunch, I sat alone, staring at my sandwich. When she tried to talk to me,
I turned my back. “What’s wrong ” she asked, her voice breaking. “Just leave me alone,” I said angrily. Mia’s face
looked sad, and she ran off. Days turned into weeks. I missed her laugh, her advice, the way she could always make
me smile. But I was too proud to say sorry. One rainy afternoon, I saw Mia sitting under our big tree, tears mixing
with raindrops. My chest hurt, but I walked past her.
Something lucky happened when I stayed late to finish a project. As I walked past the library, I heard a voice I
knew. “I can’t believe you took her diary!” It was Sarah, shouting at a boy named Jake.
注意:
1.续写词数应为 150 左右;

pulling it from Jake’s hands. Sarah’s face turned red. “I didn’t tell Mia anything,” she said in a lower voice. I held
my diary tightly and ran out of the room. I felt something heavy was sitting in my stomach. Mia had been telling
the truth all along. But I had blamed her for something she didn’t do, and she hadn’t even been angry with me.
The next day, I went to find Mia under our tree. “I’m so sorry,” I said, my voice shaky. “I thought you took
my diary, but it was Jake. I have to trust you.” Mia looked at me and her eyes were welled up with tears. “Why
didn’t you just ask me ” she whispered. I sat down beside her, tears falling too. “I was stupid. You’re my best
friend, Mia. I don’t want to lose you.” Mia smiled through her tears and gave me a tight hug. I understood then —
true friendship isn’t about never having fights. It’s about forgiving and trusting.
