Lead-in 1.Have students brainstorm and answer the following questions: What table manners do you know in Chinese restaurants What other table manners do you know 2.Have students watch a video about the chopsticks. Step2. Pre-writing 1.Read and anwer Have students read Amy’s notes in Part D1 on page 75 and answer the questions: ·Before writing an article about good manners, what can we do first ·How does Amy organize her ideas on good manners 2.Read and think Have students read Amy’s article in Part D2 on page 76 and work out the content and structure of the article. 3.Read and appreciate Have students read each paragraph and appreciate it. papa1. Review and lead-in View and talk Present the picture and revise the dining hall manners and the importance, and make the students understand that we should behave properly. Step 2. Reading 1. Read and answer Have students read the title and the picture about how teachers in China are highly respected in Part A and answer the question: What do you think the article is mainly about 2. Listen and answer Have students read the article along with the recording and answer some questions: When did the two students pay a visit to Master Cheng Why didn’t the students go into Master Cheng’s house when they arrived How did Master Cheng feel when he saw the students 3. Think and answer Have students discuss and answer the question: What can you learn from the two students How do you show your teacher thanks and respect Step 3. Listening and summarizing 1. Predict before listening Have students predict the answers to Part B1 on page 73. 2. Listen and choose Have students listen to the recording and finish Part B1 on page 73. 3. Listen and complete Have students listen to the recording and finish Part B2 on page 74. 4. Writing Have students help Daniel finish his article in Part B3 on page 74. Think and summarize Have students talk about the similarities and differences of manners. Step 4. Speaking and summarizing Listen and complete Have students listen to Robert and Amy’s conversation and complete the table: Read and find Have students read Robert and Amy’s conversation and find proper expressions used to reply to others’ ideas. Have students come up with more ways. Think and talk Have students work in pairs and talk about the differences in manners using the conversation in Part C on page 75 as a model. Think and summarize Have students talk about the importance of good manners. Step 5. Homework Must do: Finish the exercises on the worksheet.
