The fisherman was scared but he calmed down quickly and came up with a good idea. “Mr. Genie,” he said, “I can’t believe you could fit in that small bottle. Can you show me ”
The proud genie turned into a cloud and entered the bottle. The fisherman quickly put the lid(盖子) on.
The genie realized he was tricked and shouted, “Let me out! I’ll give you three wishes and won’t kill you.”
The fisherman considered and then let the genie out. The genie asked for his wishes.
The fisherman said, “A big house for my family, enough money, and for you to be kind and never harm anyone.”
The genie agreed on the wishes. The fisherman’s family lived happily, and the genie became kind.
SAMPLE
“Why Didn’t I set you free from the bottle ” “That’s why I’m going to kill you, but I’ll let you choose how you’re going to die.” The fisherman was not scared. He said “Since I must die, I must. But before I die, answer me one question. Were you really in the bottle You are so big and the bottle is so small that it could hardly hold one of your feet.” “Of course I was in the bottle. Don’t you believe me ” “No, and I won’t until I’ve seen you in the bottle with my own eyes.” When he heard this, the Genie changed into a cloud again. Slowly the cloud went back into the bottle. When all of it was in it, the fisherman quickly put the cover on and threw it back into the sea. He was happy and escaped.
SAMPLE
The fisherman said to the genie, “I saved you. You should pay me back instead of killing me. And I can teach you some useful things to live a better life. Think about it.” The genie thought about the fisherman’s words for a long time and agreed with his idea. He set the fisherman free.
The fisherman succeeded in saving himself by letting the genie believe his words. He got home safely at last. From then on, he started to tell people about the genie and asked them to be careful about the genie.
The fisherman was wise enough to save himself. People should learn from him.

The Chinese story I like best is Mulan Joins the Army. It tells the story of Hua Mulan.
Long ago, because of a great war, the emperor ordered one man from each family to join the army. Mulan, a teenage girl, heard the news and wanted to take her old father’s place. Finally, her family agreed with her.
In the army, Mulan was so brave in the war that a few years later she became a general. Not long after that, they won the war. After that, Mulan returned to her village. Everyone in her village was proud of her!
This story encourages people to stand up bravely when they face difficulties and challenges.
