Xu Shuwen, 26, began to learn Chinese art at the age of four from her father, a man who she said believes in
the importance of aesthetic (美学的) education, “My father is an art devotee. He loves painting and playing the
violin, and often takes me to operas. He taught me the ink and wash and Chinese calligraphy,” Xu said.
At first, Xu found it difficult to teach foreigners Chinese painting, so she turned to books on education and
psychology. Many of her students had never painted before, which made her job even more difficult. “I got
inspiration from children. I discovered that painting done by them is very creative. The color is unique and I can
see they have a desire to create because they are not limited by any rules, unlike adults. So, I only teach them the
basic brush techniques and ask them not to imitate my work. I want them to paint their own paintings in a happy
mood.”
“Chinese ink painting is abstract (抽象的) and simple but with a lot of details. However, it is difficult to get it
right, either too thick or too thin. And it is arduous to get the right proportions (比例),” said Mary Durant, a
Canadian woman.
In her studio on Huaihai Road, Xu teaches students about the philosophy behind traditional ink-wash painting,
and spends a lot of time teaching them the brushwork technique and spatial relations.
Xu has decided to write an English-language book on basic knowledge of Chinese painting and calligraphy,
and maybe later open a school. To be a competent teacher, Xu gets up early every morning to practice her English
aloud, read books and make notes for her lessons.
24. What can be inferred about Xu Shuwen’s father
A. He wished his daughter to be a famous painter.
B. He had a great influence on his daughter in art.
C. He attached little importance to aesthetic education.
D. He thought it unnecessary for his daughter to learn operas.
25. Why can’t the grown-ups be creative
A. They are not as smart as children.
B. They are not skilled at using colors.
C. They are easy to be trapped by rules.
D. They are too old to create something.
26. What does the underlined word “arduous” mean
A. Striking. B. Challenging. C. Rewarding. D. Interesting.
27. Which of the following can best describe Xu Shuwen’s quality
A. Fond of writing books in English.
B. Afraid to lose her competitiveness.
C. Determined to make a bigger difference.
D. Eager to show off her painting techniques.

Rising temperatures are forcing ski resorts (度假胜地) across the world to face the possibility of a terrible
future: one without the snow-covered ground. The recent heat waves in Europe, which brought T-shirt weather
around the holidays, led to widespread resort closures. This caused some to look for other ways of making money.
Resorts in the Alps and Rocky Mountains are facing difficulties in keeping up with these changes. “But their
short-term methods, like man-made snow, actually add more CO2 to the earth and are making the climate problem
worse. In the long run, it’s improper,” said Marie Cavitte, a climate researcher at the Catholic University of
Louvain.
Currently, no snow machines run on renewable energy. A recent study from the University of Basel in
Switzerland suggests that snow-making will increase water usage by about 80 percent at one of the country’s
largest ski resorts by the end of the century, rising from the 300 million liters of water used in a season today to 540
million liters.
Some Alpine resorts have even been covering glaciers (冰川) with protective materials during summers in an
effort to reflect sunlight and stop them from melting (融化). This method could reduce snowmelt by 50 to 70
percent. However, covering all of Switzerland’s 1,000 largest glaciers would cost around $1.5 billion every
year.Winter tourism produces about $5.7 billion per year in Switzerland.
Along with the resorts, excellent athletes have also suffered. This year, racers have seen competitions canceled,
a shortage of pre-season snow for training and the risk of limited snow-making due to rising temperatures. In
addition, more inexpert ski lovers will go to the resorts with enough snow. Those resorts will then have less reason
to host costly competitions.
“It’s about time to deal with a really important topic,” ski racer Aleksander Aamodt Kilde said. “We see that
the world is changing. We also see its influence on our sport. We now accept that, and then we can try to build and
find something else. I want the future generations to experience winter and to be able to do what I do.”
28. What is the problem with ski resorts according to the text
A. They lack enough space to expand their business.
B. They are losing a large number of regular customers.
C. Climate change threatens their snow-based businesses.
D. They fail to meet the safety standards for ski facilities.
29. Why will the snow-making method become unsuitable
A. It requires too much physical labour to operate.
B. It damages the natural soil and vegetation nearby.
C. It increases the risk of accidents for skiers on tracks.
D. It adds to carbon emissions and water resource pressure.
30. How does the author probably find the practice of covering glaciers
A. Useful but costly. B. Practical for widespread application.
C. Ineffective in the protection of glaciers. D. Creative but environmentally unfriendly.
31. What key challenge are ski racers facing
A. Reduced chances to compete professionally.
B. Increased risk of accidents during training.
C. Rising duties of guiding inexpert ski lovers.
D. Changing rules under different skiing conditions.
D
Would you enjoy a life of complete leisure Tech billionaire Elon Musk once said, “Probably none of us will
have a job. AI and robots will provide everything you want.” Investor Vinod Khosla also predicted that within 25
years, quick-adapting countries will no longer need people to work.
Yet we have good reason to question such forecasts. We’ve been here before. In the 1960s, Americans
imagined the year 2000 as a wonderland. A 1967 book predicted that by 2000 we would work only 30 hours a week,
take 13 weeks of vacation, and be twice as rich. But when 2000 arrived, we worked just as hard, with even more
people employed. The economy didn’t reach the predicted size. Why Those forecasters based their predictions on
economic data but missed critical factors outside their models.
Today, existing jobs are disappearing due to AI. Yet it’s almost impossible to predict the entirely new jobs that
will emerge. Before the internet, no one believed people would make a living as online content creators or digital
currency miners. Some argue that even these future jobs will be taken by AI. But humans are built to value
face-to-face interaction. We prefer to hear a doctor’s diagnosis in person, even if a chatbot could give the same
information. When the stock market crashes, we need to hear from and be heard by a real person. This human need
won’t change soon.
More importantly, work gives our lives meaning. As psychologist Sigmund Freud said, “Love and work, work
and love — that’s all there is.” Few working-age people would find satisfaction in endless vacation.
32. What do well-known figures predict about the future of work
A. Humans will no longer need to work at all.
B. All will help humans work more efficiently.
C. Work will become more creative and meaningful.
D. AI will be better than humans at doing many jobs.
33. What lesson does the author draw from the failed predictions in The Year 2000
A. Technology couldn’t reduce the number of existing jobs.
B. Predictions can be wrong if they rely only on economic data.
C. Technology doesn’t have the ability to reduce working hours.
D. People were more optimistic about work and technology in the past.
34. According to the article, future jobs may not be fully replaced by AI because ______.
①AI is not yet powerful enough to handle complex tasks
②humans need to find meaning and fulfillment through work
③new jobs will continue to emerge and require human involvement
④humans prefer real connections and emotional support from others
A. ①②③ B. ①②④ C. ①③④ D. ②③④
35. What message does the author intend to convey
A. A future without work is unlikely to happen.
B. Humans will enjoy a life of endless vacation.
C. We should stop trying to find meaning in work.
D. AI has hardly changed the way people work today.

How to Form a New Habit Successfully
We all have habits we’d like to change or new ones we want to develop — exercising regularly, reading more,
eating healthier. But as anyone who has ever made a New Year’s resolution knows, forming a new habit is easier
said than done. 36 Here are science-backed strategies to make new habits stick.
Start small.
One of the biggest mistakes people make is trying to change too much too quickly. If you’ve never run before,
deciding to run five miles every day is setting yourself up for failure. Instead, start with something so small you
can’t say no. 37 The key is consistency (持之以恒), not intensity, in the beginning.
Use specific intentions.
Research shows that being specific about when and where you’ll perform your new habit dramatically
increases your chances of success. Rather than saying “I’ll exercise more,” try “I will walk for 20 minutes right
after I finish work on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.” 38
Make it attractive.
We’re more likely to repeat behaviors that we enjoy. Find ways to make your new habit pleasurable. Listen to
your favorite podcast while exercising. 39 If you fear the activity, you’ll eventually find excuses to skip it.
Remove barriers.
Design your environment to make good habits easier and bad habits harder. Want to read more Put a book on
your pillow. Want to eat healthier Place fruit in plain sight and hide the cookies in a hard-to-reach cupboard.
40
Remember, forming a habit isn’t about perfection. If you miss a day, don’t let it become two days. Get back on
track immediately. With patience and the right approach, you can make lasting changes.
A. Join a community of people who share your goal.
B. This creates a clear action plan for your brain to follow.
C. The easier a behavior is, the more likely you are to do it.
D. The secret lies in understanding how habits actually form.
E. For example, do just one push-up or read one page per day.
F. Most people give up on their goals within the first few weeks.
G. Treat yourself to a fancy coffee after a week of sticking to your habit.

Lily is a high school English teacher who always wears a bright smile, looking fashionable and open-minded
to all her students. She is extremely dedicated to her teaching job, taking every class seriously and devoting all her
energy to helping students make progress. Though she sometimes meets small troubles with a few shy or naughty
students, she always tries her best to get along well with the whole class and wins their love and respect.
In her class there is a boy named William, who is a little overweight and always keeps quiet in the corner. He
is not active in his studies and seldom finishes his homework on time. He has never raised his hand to answer
questions or talked to Lily actively after class, so Lily knows little about this silent boy, only regarding him as a
lazy and unmotivated student.
One evening, after two straight evening classes, Lily was about to rush to another class for her next task. She
needed to hand out exercise books to students quickly, so she called several students who had nothing to do at hand
for help. Some students stood up at once and walked to the platform happily. However, when Lily called William’s
name in a gentle voice, he just sat still without any response, staring at his desk as if he had heard nothing.
Thinking he might not catch her words clearly, Lily called his name again a little louder, but William still kept
silent and never lifted his head. Gradually, Lily felt confused and a little annoyed. She raised her voice and called
his name for the third time sharply, asking him to come to help hand out the exercise books. This time, every
student in the class could hear her words clearly, but William remained motionless in his seat, completely ignoring
her request.
Lily’s face turned red immediately, filled with strong anger and deep embarrassment. The whole classroom fell
into a strange and awkward silence. Just at that moment, a kind girl in the class stood up quickly and volunteered to
hand out the books instead, easing the tense atmosphere a little. But Lily was still filled with anger, standing on the
platform frozen for a while. She thought William was extremely selfish and rude for defying her order on purpose.
With no time to deal with it then, she left the classroom with great anger, wondering angrily whether she should
punish him severely or talk to him the next day.

第一节【答案】
Qingming Festival: Tradition and Renewal
The Qingming Festival shows a perfect mix of old traditions and new trends.
Traditionally, people sweep tombs and offer sacrifices to honor their ancestors, passing down respect for the
past. Now, many choose spring outings instead. They believe enjoying nature with family and cherishing the
present are also meaningful.
In my view, we can combine both. We can pay respects to our ancestors first, then go for a picnic or fly kites
with loved ones. This way, we keep our traditions alive while embracing warm, new ways to celebrate the festival.
第二节【答案】
The next day, William came to Lily’s office hesitantly before the first class began. He lowered his head deeply,
his hands twisting uneasily, and apologized to Lily in a soft, trembling voice. He explainedthat his father had been
working abroad all year, and his mother had fallen seriously ill the previous night, so he had stayed up all night
taking care of her alone. Exhausted and dizzy, he had suffered temporary hearing loss in one ear and truly didn't
hear her calls. He was too shy and self-abased to speak up in class, fearing being laughed at by classmates.
Hearing William’s sincere explanation, Lily’s anger faded away in no time. She felt deeply guilty for
misunderstanding the quiet boy and patted his shoulder gently with a warm smile. She comforted him and said
there was no need to feel sorry, promising to help him make up for the missed lessons after class. She also
encouraged him to share his difficulties with teachers whenever he needed help. Touched by Lily's kindness,
William raised his head with tears in his eyes. From then on, he became more active in class and gradually opened
his heart, building a warm teacher-student bond with Lily.
