We started with different ideas for our alumni books. Some of us wanted to pay attention to our favorite classes, while others wanted to emphasize our colorful activities. We also wrote messages of encouragement and best wishes.
As we worked on our alumni books, we found that it was a great way to reflect on our time in junior high. We laughed as we looked through the old photos and remembered many funny things that happened in the class. We also took the time to write down our goals for the future and record what we had learned during our time in school.
One of the best parts of making our alumni books was getting to work together. We helped each other with writing and design (设计), and we shared our ideas and memories. It was a great way to connect with our classmates and create something.
When we finally finished our alumni books, we were all so happy with the results. We had created something that would help us remember our time in junior high for years to come.

Mid-Autumn Festival is a very important festival in China. It is on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month. People call it the Moon Festival, too. Families get together on this day. They eat mooncakes. Mooncakes usually have sweet bean paste or lotus seeds in them. This festival has a long history. It started more than 3,000 years ago in the Shang Dynasty. In the old days, people gave things to the moon goddess to wish for a good harvest.
Now, Mid-Autumn Festival is still a time for families to be together. People like to light lanterns and take walks at night when the moon is bright. In some places, people do dragon dances and lion dances. The mooncake stands for unity, and its round shape is like the full moon. But now, there are many new kinds of mooncakes. Some have ice-cream or chocolate in them.
There is a story about the festival. It says that a goddess named Chang’e ate a magic pill and flew to the moon. Families often tell this story when they look at the full moon. They hope to get good luck and be happy. Kids like to carry colorful lanterns. They think these lanterns can bring them good luck.
These years, because of technology, new ways of celebrating the festival come out. Many families send virtual mooncakes to their family members and friends on the Internet. Some cities have light shows with cool moon pictures on buildings. But the most important things about this festival, like family and being thankful, never change.

Chinese paper-cutting is one of the most popular art forms in the world. 41 The first piece of paper-cutting appeared in western China around the 6th century. From the 7th to 13th century, paper cutting became popular especially during Chinese festivals. The art was introduced to the world in the 14th century.
In the beginning, Chinese people used thin materials like leaves to make the cutting. After paper was invented, they found that this material was easy to cut. 42
People make paper-cutting to show beautiful things and their good wishes. 43 People include everything in paper-cutting, from great people to the things that we can find in everyday life such as birds, flowers and animals. There are also some Chinese characters in traditional Chinese paper-cutting.

Wei Fen’s journey to learning English was filled with challenges. At 13, she entered junior high school excited but struggled in fast-paced (快节奏的) English classes. “The teacher spoke too fast,” she recalled. “I was too shy to ask questions and often hid behind my textbook.” Her fear of being judged kept her silent during group activities.
One day, she watched Toy Story. “For the first time, English felt like a bridge, not a barrier (障碍).” she said. She began watching more movies, pausing to repeat sentences like “You’ve got a friend in me” and taking down new words. Her father bought her a dictionary, which she carried everywhere.
To improve her pronunciation, Wei Fen recorded herself speaking and compared it with English speakers. She joined an online English club where she practiced with students from Canada and Australia. My online friend Sarah encouraged me, saying, “Practice makes perfect!” As her skills improved, Wei Fen’s confidence grew. She joined the debate club and won awards for her presentations. “I realized English is about connecting with people, not just grammar,” she said.
Today, Wei Fen volunteers at the school’s English corner, where she helps classmates like Xiao Ming, who once struggled as she did. “Learning English isn’t just about grammar rules or vocabulary lists,” she tells them. “It’s about understanding different cultures and making connections.” She recently organized a cultural exchange event, inviting her online friends to share stories about their traditions. Through these experiences, Wei Fen has discovered her passion for cross-cultural communication and dreams of becoming a translator someday. “Every challenge I’ve faced has taught me that perseverance is the key to unlocking chances,” she says with a smile. “And I’m just getting started.”

My Experience of Learning English
When I first started learning English, I was very shy and afraid to speak English in class. I often kept silent even if I knew the answers.
One day, my English teacher asked me to read a short passage aloud. My face turned red at once, but I tried my best to read it carefully. To my surprise, my teacher spoke highly of me and encouraged me to keep on.
From this experience, I learned not to be afraid of making mistakes. Practice makes perfect. Now I am more confident and my English has improved a lot.
