Robots Amaze at Spring Festival Gala
The Spring Festival Gala on CCTV is the most popular show in China. On January 28, 2025, it had a special performance that made everyone excited.
Famous director Zhang Yimou made this show. It was called YangBOT. It mixed the traditional Yangko dance from northern China with cool robot tech. Sixteen humanoid robots (类人机器人), about one meter tall, danced Yangko. They wore bright, beautiful traditional clothes. These robots were made by Unitree, a Chinese company. Before this, Unitree’s robot cows, Ben Ben, danced for singer Andy Lau in 2021.
The robots learned to dance using AI. Laser navigation (激光导航) helped them move safely on the stage. Their strong joints let them keep balance when dancing fast. Zhang Yimou said this show wasn’t just for fun. It showed how technology could give new life to old traditions.
After the show, “Robot Yangko” became popular on social media. Young people thought it was really cool, and older people liked the fun and the festival feelings. This show is a great example of China’s tech progress and love for its own culture.

Do you ever feel like your study habits simply don’t work Do you wonder what you could be doing to perform better in class and on exams Then maybe you need to study smarter not harder. 46
Reading is not studying.
Simply reading and re-reading texts or notes is not really getting into the material. Getting into the work is the process of making meaning from text. This includes making connections to lessons, forming examples and planning your own learning. 47 When studying for a test, organize your materials first and then begin your active reviewing by topic.
It’s good to be intense (专注的).
Not all studying is equal (同等的). You will achieve more if you study intensively. Intensive study times are short and will allow you to get work done with the least wasted effort. Shorter, intensive study times are more effective than drawn out studying.
48 Intensive study times can last 30 or 45 minutes and include active studying strategies. And then take a break. This way, you are much more likely to stay focused and remember the information.
49
Know where you study best. The silence of a library may not be the best place for you. 50 You might find that you concentrate (集中注意力) better with some background noise. Some people find that listening to classical music while studying helps them concentrate, while others find this stops them concentrating. The point is that the silence of the library may be just as bad (or worse) than the noise of a gymnasium.
阅读短文,把A~E五个句子填入文中空缺处,使短文内容完整。
A.Silence isn’t golden.
B.Here are some important tips for you.
C.It’s important to consider what noise environment works best for you.
D.Organization and planning will help you to really study for your courses.
E.In fact, one of the best study methods is to break up your study time into different parts.

It was 8:00 a.m. The sun was shining brightly. A group of college students got out of my car to make a video in the park. My job, as the driver, was to stay nearby so that, if anything was needed, I could open the car.
Knowing that I could have several hours’ free time, I decided to go somewhere and do some reading. Against a wall, I found a beautiful park bench (长凳). I noticed that only a poor man was sitting on one end, so I sat on the other end to have a rest.
The man looked at me but remained seated. I quickly discovered that he’d probably spent the night on the bench. His clothes were dirty, his hair was untidy, and soon I caught a bad smell of body sweat (汗水). I looked at him and smiled, and he smiled back with a mouth of blacked-out teeth.
We both sat there for over an hour peacefully. I was reading. He was watching the video making. He then stood up, walked in front of me and bowed. In a little shaky but clear voice, he said, “Thank you.” I lifted my head.
“For what ” I questioned.
He looked at the ground as he said, “Usually people won’t even look at me, let alone sit by me. Thank you for treating me like a human being.”
Full of shock, I honestly didn’t know what to say as he turned and walked quickly around the corner. I hadn’t done anything special. I just shared a bench.
To me, he was just someone who wanted a place to rest. That’s exactly what I had wanted. We were no different. I finally realized that my actions had truly meant something to this poor homeless man. So, treating others in an equal (平等的) way can also make a difference to the world.

67.
The harder we work, the luckier we will be
Last term, I was weak in math. I often failed my exams and felt upset. But I didn’t give up. I practiced math for one hour every day. I did more exercises and asked my teacher for help. On weekends, I studied with my classmates. After two months of hard work, I got an A in the final exam. Everyone said I was lucky, but I knew it was my effort that made the difference.
This experience taught me that luck comes from hard work. The harder we work, the more chances we will have. I will keep this in my heart and work harder in the future.
