Harbin, the capital of Heilongjiang Province in Northeast China, hosted the 9th Asian Winter Games from February 7th to 14th, 2025. This is the second time the city has held this event since 1996. 170 Chinese players competed in 64 events. Also, with the development of the events, the 9th Asian Winter Games included several new sports on the basis of the sports before.
Since the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics, Chinese people’s love for winter sports has greatly grown. And that has made winter sports more and more popular across the country.
The torch (火炬) and anthem (会歌) for the 2025 Asian Winter Games in Harbin were first shown on October 30th, 2024. The torch named “Surging” is about 735 mm high. The topic of its design means that the 9th Asian Winter Games are filled with energy and passion (激情). The overall design of the torch combines international beauty with classical and modern Chinese art.
The anthem for the Asian Winter Games is titled Snow in Harbin. It shows the dream of unity, friendship and working together to achieve peace and the development among the people of Asian countries and regions.
