【答案】Paragraph 1:
Slowly, Peter raised his hand. “Mr. White, I didn’t get full marks on the test. I made a mistake.” He stood up and handed his teacher the dictionary he liked best and his test paper, “I spelled contribution with ’s-i’ instead of ‘t-i’. ”Peter could feel his classmates looking at him with surprise as he walked back to his desk. Mr. White held up Peter’s testpaper. “Class,” he said, “Peter did something even more important than spelling every word correctly on a test.” Mr. White smiled at Peter, “He taught us all a lesson on being honest.”
Paragraph 2:
Peter looked around. He found many of his classmates were smiling at him. “Peter, I want you to have this dictionary because you set a good example for all of us,” Mr. White said. Peter took the dictionary from his teacher and expressed his thanks to Mr. White. Meanwhile, he couldn’t wait to show it to Mum and tell her one of his best days ever.2025-2026学年甘肃省平凉市第一中学下学期4月周考高一英语试题

I’m still amazed I didn’t drop dead from awkwardness during my first solo (独自的) travel experience. As a 20-year-old, I booked an unplanned trip to Darwin in Australia. I didn’t want to go alone, but none of my friends had the time or money to go with me.
Everything went wrong from the start. Poor planning landed me in a shared room with two German men who didn’t speak English. On a guided tour of Kakadu National Park, I fell for every joke my Australian guide played on me. Dining alone was the worst. I felt like a loser when I requested a table for one. I was certain everyone was watching me, wondering if I was single, or simply friendless.
It turned out someone was watching me. During my last solo supper in Australia, a British woman came over. “I’m sorry, but I just have to say something,” she said. “I think you’re unbelievably brave. I’ve seen you around town this week and you look like you’re having so much fun. I wish I had the courage to travel on my own like you.”
It took a while for her words to really hit me, but during my next 21 years of traveling solo, I heard people express the same feeling again and again.
I became a solo traveler out of necessity, rather than choice: As a travel writer I spend a lot of time on my own. Also, as my friends got busy with their own lives, I discovered I had to travel solo if I wanted to travel at all. I quickly learned to love it, though — and now, I have complete freedom to decide what to do and when to do it. Over time, I’ve gained a strong sense of independence, and even learned to appreciate loneliness.
4. What difficulty did the author meet in Darwin
A. Contacting friends. B. Ordering food at restaurants.
C. Finding a travel guide. D. Communicating with roommates.
5. How did the woman feel about the author
A. Appreciative. B. Pitiful. C. Doubtful. D. Curious.
6. What made the author fall in love with solo travel
A. Personal growth. B. Work requirements.
C. Strangers’ praise. D. Friends’ encouragement.
7. What does the author want to express in the passage
A. A detailed plan matters. B. Loneliness makes us complete.
C. Travelling alone is worth a try. D. Solo travel is for the independent.

A DeepSeek Perspective
In the realm of science and technology, artificial intelligence (AI) has emerged as a transformative force, reshaping industries and daily life. DeepSeek, a pioneering company in the AI sector, has been at the forefront of developing advanced technologies that hold the potential to revolutionize various fields. However, as AI continues to advance, it also brings with it a host of challenges and ethical dilemmas that must be carefully navigated.
On the one hand, AI offers numerous benefits. In healthcare, DeepSeek’s AI algorithms can analyze vast amounts of medical data to assist doctors in making more accurate diagnoses and personalized treatment plans. This not only improves patient outcomes but also enhances the efficiency of the healthcare system. In education, AI-driven tools can provide personalized learning experiences, adapting to the individual needs of students and offering targeted support. This can lead to better educational outcomes and a more inclusive learning environment.
Moreover, AI can significantly boost productivity in various industries. By automating repetitive tasks, AI can free up human resources to focus on more creative and strategic activities. This can lead to increased innovation and economic growth. For example, in manufacturing, AI can optimize production processes, reduce waste, and improve product quality.
On the other hand, the rise of AI also poses several challenges. One of the most significant concerns is the potential for job displacement. As AI systems become more capable, they may replace human workers in certain sectors, leading to unemployment and economic instability. Another issue is the ethical use of AI. AI systems are only as unbiased as the data they are trained on, and if the data contains biases, the decisions made by AI could perpetuate or even exacerbate existing inequalities.
Furthermore, there is the question of privacy. With the increasing amount of data collected and analyzed by AI systems, there is a growing risk of personal information being misused or leaked. Ensuring data security and protecting individual privacy are critical issues that must be addressed as AI continues to expand its reach.
In conclusion, while AI offers many benefits, it is essential to approach this technology with a balanced perspective. The potential for AI to improve our lives is immense, but so are the risks if it is not managed responsibly. As we continue to develop and integrate AI into our society, we must prioritize ethical considerations, data security, and the well-being of all individuals.

A. AI can completely replace doctors.
B. AI can help doctors make more accurate diagnoses.
C. AI can eliminate the need for medical tests.
D. AI can predict future diseases with absolute certainty.
9. What is a potential negative impact of AI on employment
A. AI will create more job opportunities in all industries.
B. AI will lead to an increase in the number of high-paying jobs.
C. AI may cause job displacement in certain industries.
D. AI will have no impact on employment.
10. Why is the ethical use of AI a concern
A. AI systems are always fair and unbiased.
B. AI systems can only make decisions based on biased data.
C. AI systems may perpetuate existing inequalities if the data they are trained on is biased.

Dogs help with protecting nature in many different ways, like finding rare animals and catching people who hunt illegally. And a growing list of successes shows how our best friends’ noses can be an especially powerful weapon in the battle against invasive (入侵的) organisms. Lately dogs have proved to be particularly useful partners against one unwelcome guest: spotted lanternflies.
Native to Asia, these insects were seen in Pennsylvania in 2014 and soon spread across the eastern and central U.S. The species is especially threatening to vineyards (葡萄园), as it can severely damage grapevines over time. “Once it’s spread into a new area, getting rid of that problem early on is really important,” says Angela K. Fuller, an ecologist at Cornell University. But that also means finding and destroying spotted lanternfly egg masses, whose light-brown, dirtlike camouflage (伪装) makes them extremely difficult to see.
For a recent study, Fuller and her team tested dogs against humans at finding spotted lanternfly eggs in various situations. The researchers spent several months training two dogs to find the eggs, and then they set the dogs to work in 20 Pennsylvania and New Jersey vineyards.
Humans did better within the vineyards, where they could search systematically up and down the vines, but the dogs detected over three times more egg masses in nearby forested areas. Fuller thinks dogs might work better in vineyards with lower-level invasion. They can smell the insects in big areas that would take people too long to check.
Worldwide, detection dog teams are being integrated into efforts to prevent, monitor and fight against the presence of invasive species, from insects and plants to fish and animals. In North America, trained dogs inspect ships to detect invasive shellfish before they catch a ride to new waters. Dogs have also been tested at finding various species like longhorn beetles, brook trout and nutria.
“Dogs tend to be an excellent real-time detector that is hard to match,” Fuller says. “I think there is an unexplored capacity for broader use.”……
12. Why are spotted lanternfly eggs difficult to detect
A. They are very small. B. They fit in with their surroundings.
C. They are only found in forested areas. D. They are hidden deep inside grapevines.
13. What can we infer from the fact that dogs detected more egg masses in forested areas
A. Dogs are better at systematic searching.
B. Humans are not suitable for detecting eggs.
C. Dogs have an advantage in detecting in large areas.
D. Humans are less careful than dogs in forested areas.
14. What does Fuller intend to do in the last paragraph
A. To stress dogs’ potential in detecting invasive species.
B. To introduce more invasive species in North America.
C. To prove dogs are better than humans in all detections.
D. To compare detection dogs with other detector tools.
15. What is the main idea of the text
A. The damage caused by spotted lanternflies. B. The methods of detecting invasive species.
C. The role of dogs in detecting invasive species. D. The training of dogs to detect invasive species.

Peter woke up early in the morning. He went downstairs in a hurry and started to have his breakfast as quickly as possible.
“Why are you in such a hurry, early bird ” Mum asked him. “We will have an English spelling test today, Mum,” Peter said. “Mr. White promised to offer prizes to those who get 100 scores. I’ve been studying the word list since last week. Although the words are difficult, I am well prepared for them.”
Peter reviewed the spelling of each word once more carefully when Dad drove him to school. At last, it was time for the students to have a test. “Responsibility,” Mr. White started. Peter wrote it on his test paper quickly and confidently.
“The second word: contribution,” Mr. White said.
“So easy,” Peter thought. He quickly wrote the word down.
Thirty words later, the test papers were collected by Mr. White. “I am to mark your papers now,” he told the class. After marking the test papers, Mr. White said, “Three of you won a prize today for excellent test scores. Peter, David and Mary got full marks on the spelling test!”
Mr. White praised them. Meanwhile, he gave the three students each a dictionary. Peter’s was an English-Chinese dictionary—the one he liked best. Peter was so excited that he held it high when his classmates cheered. “This is my happiest moment,” Peter thought.
After Mr. White gave the test paper back, Peter had a look at the words, feeling proud of his spelling. All of a sudden, the word “contribusion” confused him. It didn’t seem right. Peter began to compare them after taking out the word list. “C-O-N-T-R-I-B-U-S-I-O-N,” he whispered. He spelled it wrong.
“What am I to do ” Peter said to himself. “I expect my classmates to think I’m a master at spelling. If I tell Mr. White one of my spelling words is wrong, I’ll have to give my prize back, or I will become an example for telling a lie.”
Staring at the full marks written on his test paper, Peter was lost in thought. After a while, he remembered a lesson Mum used to teach him, “We ought to be an honest person.”
