It can even help people understand how powerful the winds can be, and as a result, change how we build our houses. Storm chasing can be exciting, but also very dangerous. Though storm chasing remains a dangerous job, the goal of storm chasers is to learn more about storms to keep people safe.

Why What do they do Let's read their story together. 2.While-reading:(1)Fast reading. Lead the students to grasp the main idea by reading the title and topic sentences. T:Which sentence best describes the main idea of the passage Then guide the students to skim the topic sentence of each paragraph and summarize the main idea quickly. (2)Careful reading. Provide the students with a reading tip. Let them read Paragraph1and have a think to answer the questions. T:What do most people do when big storms come What do some people do instead Why must storm chasers always be prepared Provide a reading tip and let the students read Paragraphs 2-3 and fill in the blanks to find the information about the work and value of storm chasers. Then ask several students to check the answers. Provide a reading tip and let the students read paragraphs 4-5 and guide them to use the key words to judge the statements. Let the students think about the two questions and then try to express their opinions. T:Why did Tim and his team lose their lives What did they chase storms for Linda:Chasing storms is not taking risks, but for protection. Storm chasers are great and worth our respect. Read paragraphs 2-3 to fill in the blanks to find the information about the work and value of storm chasers . Read paragraphs 4-5 and try to use the key words to judge the statements. Think about the two questions and then try to express their opinions. Sa:Because the tornado changed its speed and direction unexpectedly. Language points 1.
