Want to encourage connection between team members but never seem to have enough time Below, you' ll find tried and tested 5-minute activitics used by experienced facilitators and team leaders.
Icebreaker Questions
Needing almost no set-up, icebreaker questions are a simple but powerful way to kio k off a team meeting or group session. You can separate team mombers into small groups and simply ask them to respond to questions you share with the group. For best results, have these questions relate to the topic of the session to help prepare the group for what comes next.
Group Order
Group Order is a simple exercise that supports the getting-to-know-you-process, It requires nothing more than asking your group to line themselves up in an order based on a critcrion such as birth date or nomber of different countries visited. You' ll be surprised at how easy it is to get people talking and sharing when in pursuit of a common goal.
Two Truths and One Lie
In this game, each person will present three statements about themselves: two statements must be true while one will be a lie. Give your members a few moments to work out what they want to share about themselves, and to make their lie a smart one.
Sync Claps
Sync claps is a fast-paced exercise that helps create focus and presence in a group. Get started by getting your team into a circle and ask them to move a clap around the room quickly by having two members clap at the same time. By asking your group to clap together and move quickly, Sync Claps is a fun way to help your group feel more connected.

Inside the reconstructed caves at the Geological Museum of Guizhou, 17-year-old Thai student Pongkhun Adulyatham was amazed by the towering stalactites (钟乳石), which reminded him of eaves in his home country. He was part of a group of Thai high schoolers who visited Guiyang, for a week-long science study tour with Chinese peers earlier this month.
The program combined science education with cultural immersion. Participants engaged in hands-on workshops, museum visits, and cultural exchanges, learning from each other across language and cultural barriers.
For many, the trip challenged long-held assumptions. Adulyatham noted China was not as crowded and noisy as he had imagined, but peaceful and comfortable, with a striking mix of tradition and advanced technology. Phatsara Bumrungsang, 16, was fascinated by local cuisine, especially the sour soup fish, and found trying on traditional ethnic costumes mcroorable.
The tour also included cutting-edge innovation. At a battery production base, students saw electric vehicles and emerging technologies. Phassawit Thititawornwong, 17, was surprised to find such advancements in Guiyang, a city he had not expected to be as developed as China's more famous metropolises. Practical workshops at Guizhou Industry Polytechnic College(GIPC) offered hands-on challenges, like flying a drono, which Bumrungsang found harder than expected.
Everyday interactions fostered deep connections. Chinese student He Longteng, 17,helped Thai teammates with a robotic arm project, overcoming language barriers to explain technical 1erms, which gave him a strong sense of accomplishment. Cultural exchanges, such as elephant patterns in pottery, ennohed mutual understanding. Cai Xinhang, 15, from Guizhou, bonded with Thai peers over science discussions and games, realizing that despite different backgrounds, people can feel deeply connected across borders.
24. Why is Adulyatham's experience mentioned in paragraph 1
A. To introduce the study tour program. B. To compare caves in China and Thailand.
C. To stress the need for cave protection. D. To describe Guizhou's geological features.
25. How did Adulyatham view China before the tour
A. Peaceful. B. Traditional. C. Advanced. D. Chaotic.
26. What does the underlined word" metropolises" in paragraph 4 mean

Many organizations don't need as moch floor space or as many desks, given many staff now do a mix of hybrid work from home and the office. Despite so much focus on getting workers back into offices, there has been far less focus on the impacts of returning to oocn-plan workapacem.
Now, more research confirms what many suspected: our brains have to work harder in open-plan spaoes than in private offices. In a recently published study, researchers at a Spanish university fited 26 people with wireless eleotroencephalogram (EEG) headsets to measure how bard the brain is working by tracking eleotrical aetivity through sensors on the scalp (头皮).
Participants completed simulated office tasks in two settings: an open-plan space with colleagues noarby, and an. enclosed pod(舱) with n glass. panel. Rcsearchers focused on the frontal brain—— responsible for attention and filtering distractions— and meaaurod brain waves.
The study found that the same tasks done inside the enclosed pod vs the open-plan workspace produoed completely opposite patterns. In the work pod, the stady found beta waves —— associated with active mental processing —— dropped signifieantly over the experiment. This meant people's bmins needed progressively less effort to sustain the same work. The open-plan office testing showed the reverse. Gamma wavos, linked to complex mental processing.climbed steadily. Theta waves, which tr k both working memory and mental exhaustion, increaesd. In other words, in the opon-plan office partic: pants' brains had to work harder to maintao performance. In contrast, the po d blocked out most background noise and visual disturbances, allowing participants’ brains to work more efficiently.
The ability to focus without intercuption and distraction is a fundamental requrcment for modern knowledge work. Yet the value of uninterrupted work continues to be undervalued in workpiace design. Creating zones where workers can match their workplace environment to the task is essential. To get more done, with less strmin on our brains, better design at work should be seen as a necessity.
28. What is the function of the first paragraph
A. To reveal the research findings. B. To explain hybrid work's popularity.
C. To provide the research background. D. To stress the benefits of open offices.
29. What did the rescaroher s use the wireless EEG headsets for
A. Meaauring the speed of the sensors. B. Monitoring the intensity of brain activity.
C. Testing the quality of wireless signals. D. Tracking the subjects' physiqueal conditions.
30. What did the study find
A. Pricate pods boost efficienoy; B. Theta waves. are linked to crentivity.
C. Open offices help focus better. D. Gamma waves drop in open offices.
31. What does the author suggest in the last paragraph
A. Conducting further research. B. Adopting hybrid work models.
C. Prioritizing opon-plan offices. D. Tailoring workplaces to tusks.
D
A simple and reliable modeling approach has been proposed for the precise assessment of terrestrial (陆地的) ecosystem gross (总的) primary productivity (GPP), according toLanzhou University.
The newly proposed ecosystem light· use efficiency (eLUE) model marked a major breakthrough in global GPP remote sensing estimation, said the university. The joint research team comprises researchers from China, Japan, Australia and other countries. The study has been published in the journal IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote Sensing.
GPP through photosynthesis (光合作用) is a crucial ocosystem function that significantly influences food security, the carbon cycle, and climate. change.“Given the context of climate change and carbon neutrality efforts, the precise assessment of GPP is of great significance for understanding the global carbon cycle and advancing climate governance,” said Ma Xuanlong,a professor at Lanzhou University and the study leader.
Conventional remote sensing estimation methods have considerable uocertainties and restrict the precise accounting of global carbon boudgets. To address this challenge, the study team proposed this simple yet effective eLUE model. Researchers innovatively took light-ase efficiency at the ecosystem scale as the core of remote sensing inversion(反演), constructing a new global GPP estimation framework entirely based on remote sensing observations.
“Thi model features efficient calculation and controllable error, providing a new method and tool for global carbon eycle research and carbon budget accounting,” Ma said.
Cross-validation results based on 120 global FLUXNET sites showed that the eLUE model demonstrated excellent accuracy and stability. This new model provides key technical support for the dynamic monitoring. of ecosystem carbon absorption capacity.
“This new study provides support for global carbon cycle modelling and ecosystem assessment. Moreover, it offers a scientific basis for. carbon budget: accounting and drafting climate governance strategies,” Ma said.
32. What is the eLUE model

Chinese Classic Stories in English
Our school English club organized an inspiring short play contest last Friday in the school hall, themed Chinese Classic Stories in English, which brought traditional Chinese culture to life on stage.
Among all the performances, what impressed me most was the play Hua Mulan. The leading actress not only delivered her English lines fluently but also showed Mulan's bravery and determination perfectly. Furthermore, the stunning traditional costumes and the well-designed stage made the performance more vivid and accessible to the audience.
This contest provided us with a creative platform to practice English while deepening our understanding of Chinese culture. I left the hall feeling both entertained and inspired.

One possible version:
Paragraph 1:
With all her strength, Padmam lifted her husband and held him against the wall. His head now stayed above the water, but he remained unconscious. She leaned close to his face, hoping to hear a pulse or a breath, something to indicate he was alive. Then she felt it — a weak breath. Tears welled up in her eyes.“I am with you,” she hugged him firmly.“I won’ t let you go.” Slowly, Ramesan's eyes opened. He looked at her weakly, managing a faint smile. In the darkness of the well, surrounded by cold water, they held onto each other and waited. With the relative's help, the firefighters finally arrived.
Paragraph 2:
Forty feet above, the firefighters were lowering a rescue basket into the well. Padmam helped her husband into the basket, her hands still bleeding but her heart full of hope. As he was lifted inch by inch toward the light, she whispered,“You’ re going to be okay.” When the basket came back down again, Padmam climbed in. Moments later, they were both safely lifted to the ground, wrapped in blankets and each other's arms. Miraculously, the couple suffered no serious injuries. Ramesan heldPadmam's hand tightly.“You risked your life for me,” he said softly. Padmam smiled,“Love sometimes conquers all.”

A 选项“The benefits of a power nap are numerous.”
B选项“Napping for too long can lead to deep sleep.”
基于前两句, C选项“This is why you should avoid napping after 3 p. m..(这就是为什么你应该避免在下午 3点后午睡。)”
G项“It also helps to put your phone on silent to avoid beingdisturbed.”

Hello, everyone! I'm the leader of the school basketball club. Today I want to invite more students to join us. Our club members meet every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon on the school playground. We practice from 4 to 5:30. Coach Li is very kind and patient. He teaches us basic skills like passing, shooting, and defense. Last year, we played five games against other schools. We won three of them. It was so exciting to work as a team. Every player gave their best. I will never forget the feeling when we scored the winning points. Joining the club has changed me a lot. I used to sit alone at home after school. Now I have many good friends. I have also become healthier and stronger.Basketball teaches me that working together brings success. If you love sports, come and try. No experience needed. Just bring your sports shoes and a smile. See you on the playground!
