Zhang Xue is a key figure in China’s motorcycle industry. He founded ZXMOTO, a
Chinese motorcycle brand that made history in 2026 by winning two straight races at the World Superbike Championship (WSBK) in Portugal. His journey is a true underdog story.
Born in 1987 in a poor mountain village in Hunan Province, Zhang dropped out of school at
14 and worked as a repair shop apprentice(学徒). He learned engines by taking them apart with his own hands. At 19, eager to prove himself, he chased a TV crew’s car for over 100 kilometers through pouring rain on a broken motorcycle. The crew laughed at him, but his courage earned him a spot on TV. That led to a job as a rider and mechanic.
Realizing he started racing too late to become a champion rider, Zhang changed his goal, “If I cannot ride the fastest bike, I will build one.” In 2013, he arrived in Chongqing with only
20,000 yuan (about 2,900 USD), bought parts, and built his first bike. In 2017 he co founded
Kove Moto, which grew into a major brand. But in 2024, after parting ways with Kove, he started ZXMOTO — his own company, named after his name.
Zhang’s years of devotion to motorcycle engineering has finally borne fruit. In March 2026, French rider Valentin Debise rode the ZXMOTO 820RR RS to two straight wins at WSBK,
beating Ducati and Yamaha by nearly four seconds — the first ever race wins for a Chinese manufacturer. Watching from the sidelines, Zhang was moved to tears.
Today, ZXMOTO is valued at over one billion yuan. Zhang once said, “The world had no impression of Chinese motorcycles. Now they will remember us.” His story — from a motorcycle apprentice to a pioneer of Chinese motorsports — proves that passion and persistence can move
mountains.
24 .Why is Zhang’s childhood experience mentioned in paragraph 2
A .To explain the origin of his career. B .To highlight his poor life in childhood.
C .To show his early interest in engines. D .To stress his disadvantage in education.
25 .What was Zhang’s original goal
A .To set up a top motorbike brand. B .To build the fastest motorbike.
C .To work as a motorbike apprentice. D .To become a top motorbike rider.
26 .What’s Paragraph 4 mainly about
A .Zhang’s devotion to his career. B .The reward for Zhang’s efforts.
C .The performance of the motorbike. D .Valentin’s performance in the race.
27 .Which of the following is true of Zhang’s story
A .When in Rome, do as Romans do. B .It’s better to be safe than sorry.
C .Where there’s a will, there’s a way. D .A friend in need is a friend indeed.

Polluted air is bad for your lungs but that dirty air might also be why many kids need glasses. Kids have better eyesight when air pollution levels are lower, scientists found.
The researchers focused on myopia, also known as nearsightedness. It’s a really big
problem in East Asia. In China, for instance, more than four in every five teens are nearsighted by the time they finish high school. One in 10 are severely myopic.
Many things have long been known to contribute to someone becoming nearsighted, like genetics, daily habits and diet. “But this new study establishes the link between air pollution and nearsightedness in children,” notes Zongbo Shi, a scientist from the University of Birmingham.
His team used data from 29,971 elementary, middle and high school students in Tianjin, China. This survey asked kids or their families about the kids’ age, sex, health history, family
background and habits, including how much the kids slept, what they ate, their school
environment and more. Shi’s team also gathered environmental data for Tianjin, including air pollution levels, green space and nighttime lighting.
Data show that elementary-school-age children are especially sensitive to air pollution. “It is possible that pollution causes narrowing of the blood vessels in the retina (视网膜), which is the layer of light-sensitive cells at the back of the eye,” says Paul Foster, an ophthalmologist at
University College London in England. This may lead to a greater risk of children becoming myopic.
The study has limitations, too. For example, it relied on self-reported data, which is not always accurate. The researchers also defined pollution exposure using data collected near the kids’ schools. This approach isn’t perfect because kids don’t spend their entire day at school, much less weekends. However, it suggests one possible option for improving children’s eye
health. For kids everywhere, cleaner air could mean better vision, too.
28 .What do the figures in paragraph 2 highlight
A .The cause of nearsightedness. B .The consequence of nearsightedness.
C .The harm of nearsightedness. D .The seriousness of nearsightedness.
29 .What causes nearsightedness in children according to the new study
A .Lack of a proper diet. B .Improper use of eyes.
C .Exposure to air pollution. D .Problems with genetics.
30 .What is Paragraph 5 mainly about
A .What causes nearsightedness in children. B .What leads to the problems in the retina.
C .How sensitive children are to air pollution. D .How air pollution causes nearsightedness.
31 .How does the author feel about the study
A .positive B .negative C .unconcerned D .doubtful

The concept of“Information cocoon”, first proposed by Harvard professor Cass Sunstein,
has become an increasingly significant issue. It refers to the phenomenon where individuals are
limited to a narrow range of information that matches their existing preferences and beliefs, cut off from diverse viewpoints.
The formation of information cocoons is driven by two primary forces. Technologically,
complicated algorithms(算法) on social media, news, and video platforms analyze user behavior such as clicks, likes, and search history to deliver personalized content. For example, TikTok and Google push similar short videos or articles based on users’ browsing history, creating a closed
cycle. The more similar content users consume, the more similar their feeds become. Socially, people naturally tend to associate with like-minded peers, strengthening shared views and
avoiding conflicting opinions. Together, these factors trap individuals within a comfortable but closed information cage.
Information cocoons bring far-reaching harms to individuals and society. Weng Zhihao, associate professor at Fudan University, notes that long-term exposure to one-sided information narrows people’s worldview and suppresses(压制) their critical thinking. For individuals,
teenagers addicted to entertainment short videos will lose the ability of in-depth reading and thinking. For society, rumors about health products spread rapidly in cocoons, misleading the public and disrupting social order.
Breaking information cocoons requires joint efforts from individuals, platforms and society. Liu Xingliang, an expert on information and communication, suggests that improving algorithm
mechanisms and strengthening media literacy (素养)education are the keys to solving the problem. Individuals should actively expand information sources and check information from multiple
channels; platforms should adjust algorithms to push diverse content; society should promote media literacy to guide the public to think independently.
This self-built information cage, like a silkworm’s cocoon, provides short-term comfort but limits mental development over the long term. Only through joint efforts, technological
improvement, and educational guidance can we break out of these cocoons, forming a more informed, inclusive, and progressive society.
32 .What’s the main function of the first paragraph
A .To point out a problem. B .To explain a concept.
C .To introduce the topic. D .To present a phenomenon.
33 .What does the example of TikTok and Google highlight in paragraph 2
A .The similarity between apps. B .A trap caused by technology.
C .The popularity of short videos. D .The benefit of personalized content.
34 .What does the underlined word “disrupting” mean in paragraph3
A .disturbing. B .encouraging. C .removing. D .establishing.
35 .Which of the following can be the best title of the passage
A .Improve the algorithms. B .Escape the silent cage.
C .Limit entertainment app. D .Promote media literacy.

Learning science well requires a combination of correct methods, continuous practice and an active thinking attitude. Unlike liberal arts(文科) that focus more on memory, science
emphasizes logical reasoning, practical application and understanding of principles. 36 Here are several key steps to learn science well.
Lay a solid foundation (坚实基础)
37 For example, when learning physics, we should not only remember the
formula of force ( F = ma ), but also understand the meaning of each physical factors in the
formula and the applicable conditions. A solid foundation allows you to solve unfamiliar problems with confidence, because you truly understand how the principles work, not just how to recite
them.
38
Practice is an important way to test our understanding and apply what we have learned, but we should avoid blind brushing. After finishing the exercises, we need to summarize the types of problems, common mistakes and problem-solving skills. Sorting out wrong question sets can help us find our own weaknesses and avoid making the same mistakes again.
Develop logical thinking
Science learning is not just about following the existing answers, but about thinking
independently. When faced with difficult problems, we should think about the given conditions, choose the right principles, and adopt the solution methodically. 39 This kind of logical thinking helps you see the structure behind every question, so you are never lost even when the
problem looks completely new.
Maintaining a positive attitude
Hardships are normal in science learning. 40 Stay patient, keep adjusting your
methods, and believe that consistent effort leads to progress. As long as we persist in working hard and adjusting our methods, we will surely make progress. Remember, every mistake is a learning opportunity.
A .Reflect on a regular basis.
B .Practice as much as possible.
C .We should actively turn to others for help.
D .A difficult problem or a bad test result does not mean failure.
E .Mastering the right methods can help us learn science efficiently.
F .In short, it means breaking down a problem into clear, reasoned steps.
G .It is necessary to understand basic concepts, instead of parrot learning.

第二节 (满分 25 分)
67 .When I was a child, I lived in a house with a beautiful garden full of different flowers, and roses were the most beautiful of them. There was nothing I enjoyed more than sitting in the
garden with my mother, reading stories to me. When I was in primary school and old enough to read, I enjoyed reading stories aloud to her.
I will never forget one day when I had been picked to be the princess in the school play. For weeks my mother had practised my lines so hard with me. But however easily I acted at home, as soon as I stepped, every word disappeared from my head. Finally, my teacher took me aside. She explained that she had written a narrator’s (叙述者) part to the play, and asked me to change my role. Her word, kindly expressed, still hurt, especially when I saw my part go to another girl.
I didn’t tell my mother what had happened that day. A few days later, she asked if I wanted to take a walk in the garden.
It was May and roses were blossoming and, under the trees, we could also see yellow
dandelions(蒲公英) in the grass, as if a painter had painted our garden with red, yellow and green. I watched my mother casually bend down by one dandelion.
“I think I’m going to dig up all these weeds(野草),” she said, pulling it up by its roots. “From now on, we’ll have only roses in this garden.”
“But I like dandelions,” I protested. “All flowers are beautiful—even dandelions.”
My mother looked at me seriously. “Yes, every flower is beautiful in its own way, isn’t it ” she asked thoughtfully. I nodded, pleased that I had won her over.
“And that is true of people too,” she added. “Not everyone can be a princess, but there is no shame in that.”
It occurred to me that she had guessed my pain.

67 .One possible version:
I told her what had happened. She listened and smiled reassuringly, “But you can make a
good narrator.” Her voice was as gentle as the garden’s spring air, a tone that reminded me of how much I loved to read stories aloud to her. The warm breeze carried the fragrance of roses and
dandelions, brushing against my cheeks as I poured out my disappointment and embarrassment. Encouraged by her words, I gradually let go of my sorrow and began to practice the narrator’s lines earnestly every afternoon in the garden, with the dandelions as my silent listeners.
Finally came the day for performance. Heart racing and palms sweating, I had butterflies in my stomach. However, all of them vanished the moment I saw my mother in the crowd, holding a small dandelion. Her smile gave me strength. I took a deep breath and started narrating, my voice gradually becoming clear and steady. When the performance ended, applause filled the theater. I looked at the dandelion in my mother’s hand and realized: I was not a rose-like princess, but I
could be a shining dandelion, blooming beautifully in my own way.
