Anne of Green Gables is ideally meant for children — one might think so when seeing the cover or reading through the back page of the masterpiece. It was first published in the year 1904, authored by Lucy Maud Montgomery, but it still connects to today’s world where we forget to live in the present.
It tells of the adventures of Anne Shirley, an 11-year-old orphan (孤儿)girl who is
mistakenly sent to Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert, a middle-aged brother and sister who had
intended to adopt a boy to help them on their farm in the fictional town of Avonlea. The novel describes how Anne makes her way with the Cuthberts, in school, and within the town.
The book teaches me a lot of things, the most important being — to be who you are. Why do we need to pretend to be somebody else and project a false image of ourselves to look better We need to realize that we are all different in our own way and accept ourselves first. As is
described in the book, Anne is a colorful and ever-growing character. She “has as many shades as a rainbow and every shade is the prettiest while it lasts.” Each aspect of her personality is
beautiful, which makes her unique and interesting.
Another important concept that is illustrated remarkably well is the importance of taking
joy in the world around us. Anne’s obvious wonder-struck appreciation of life made me truly appreciate the small things. Here is my favourite quote (引言) from Chapter 19:
I believe the nicest and sweetest days are not those on which anything very splendid or wonderful or exciting happens but just those that bring simple little pleasures, following one another softly, like pearls slipping off a string.
Anne’s influence has deeply shaped who I am today. This classic novel truly highlights the importance of self-love and gratitude. With its uplifting and refreshing story, it is a wonderful read for people of all ages seeking a joyful and enriching literary journey.
24 .What do we know about Anne of Green Gables
A .It is a recent release. B .It covers real events.
C .It is a timeless classic. D .It features world history.
25 .What can we learn about Anne from paragraph 3
A .She is true to herself. B .She achieves her goal.
C .She is talented in drawing. D .She cares about others.
26 .Which of the following best matches the quote from Chapter 19
A .Time waits for no man. B .Do one thing at a time.
C .Fortune favours the brave. D .Stop and smell the roses.
27 .What is the author’s purpose in writing the text
A .To tell a story. B .To remember a writer.
C .To teach a lesson. D .To recommend a book.

A recent study from psychologist Sarah Kucker at Oklahoma State University suggests shyness can influence a child’s performance in language tests, depending on the level of social interaction (互动交流) required to complete the test.
Shy children tend to keep quiet in everyday life, including communicating with others. The study points out that the behavior can make judging a child’s language abilities more challenging since shy children find it harder to verbally engage with testers (that’s when children are required to speak out) than during less socially demanding tests.
The research by Sarah Kucker was published in the Journal of Speech, Language, and
Hearing Research, and involved 122 children between the ages of 17 and 42 months. Each child underwent a series of three language tasks that required different levels of social interaction: a
looking task, a pointing task, and a verbal task. In each, the children were asked to find a known object from a set of pictures. Parents reported their child’s shyness in an early childhood behavior survey.
The results showed significant differences in children’s performance across the tasks
depending on shyness. Shyer children did worse in the verbal task than the less-shy children of the same age. However, all children performed well in the pointing task independent of their shyness level. The looking task produced more complicated results, meaning that shyer children were
occasionally more accurate (精确的) but less likely to respond.
“A child’s shyness could strongly impact how they will behave in language tasks, ” said Kucker. “When children are given language ability tests, testers should take into account the
child’s shyness level, perhaps using tasks that are less socially demanding for them, such as pointing tasks instead of verbal ones. ”
Kucker believes recognizing the impact of shyness will help to ensure language tests are more effective and provide a better understanding of a child’s language development.
28 .What does the underlined word “verbally” in paragraph 2 probably mean
A .In written forms. B .With chosen pictures.
C .In spoken words. D .With hand gestures.
29 .What do we know about the research according to the text
A.The children took one of three language tests.B.The children were asked to speak in each test.
C.Shyer children did worse in most of the tests.D.Shyer children did well in less interactive tests.
30 .Which of the following may Kucker agree with
A .Language test results are not accurate. B .The level of language tests is too high.
C .The child’s shyness level needs considering. D .It’s unnecessary to take a language test.
31 .Where is this text most likely from
A .A fairy tale about children’s growth. B .A travel guide for family activities.
C .A science fiction novel on education. D .A journal on child development.

In the summer of 2021, an unseasonal event took place. More than 100 miles of Florida’s coast around Tampa Bay became an oxygen-depleted (缺氧的) zone containing dead fish along the nearby shoreline.
Much of the conversation around our climate crisis highlights the emission of greenhouse gases and their effect on warming, sea-level rise and ocean acidification We hear little about the effect of climate change on oxygen levels, particularly in oceans and lakes. But water without adequate oxygen cannot support life. For the three billion people who depend on coastal fisheries for income, declining ocean oxygen levels are devastating.
As ocean and atmospheric scientists focus on climate, we believe that oceanic oxygen
levels are the next big victim of global warming. To stop the situation from worsening, we need to expand our attention to include the dangerous state of oceanic oxygen levels — the life-support
system of our planet. We need to accelerate ocean-based climate solutions that boost oxygen. Examples include nature-based solutions such as those discussed at the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) held in Glasgow.
Enhanced monitoring of oxygen and the establishment of an oxygen-accounting system are a must. Putting oxygen into the climate story motivates us to do the work to understand the deep systemic changes happening in our complex atmospheric and oceanic systems. We celebrated the return of humpback whales in recent years to an increasingly clean New York Harbor and Hudson River. However, dead fish blocked the Hudson in the summer as warmer waters carried less
oxygen.
Ecosystem changes connected to physical and chemical system-level data may point the way to new approaches to climate solutions. It includes an enhanced understanding of the
life-support system of our planet. Roughly 40 percent of the world’s people depend on the ocean for their livelihoods. If we do not save marine life from oxygen starvation, we starve ourselves.
32 .What is the result of less ocean oxygen according to the text
A .A rise in the coastal fisheries. B .The warming of the atmosphere.
C .The emission of greenhouse gases. D .An increase in deaths of sea animals.
33 .What can we infer from Paragraph 3
A .Attention to oceans is necessary. B .Global warming effects are serious.
C .Oceanic oxygen levels are dangerous. D .Ways to boost oceanic oxygen are urgent.
34 .Why does the author mention humpback whales in Paragraph 4
A .To bring in an oxygen-accounting system in climate.
B .To explain the urgency of oxygen levels in atmosphere.
C .To call for more attention to oxygen starvation in waters.
D .To show the achievements in reducing air pollution.
35 .Which of the following can be the best title for the text
A .Save Marine Life B .Make Oceans Safe
C .Let Oceans Breathe D .Keep the Marine System

During my first week of high school, I noticed a boy named Kevin who seemed to always be alone. He ate lunch by himself at a corner table, never spoke in class, and walked home with
his head down, as if trying to be invisible. I didn’t know much about him, except that he was quiet
and kept to himself.
One Friday afternoon, I was walking home when I heard noises coming from the park near school. I almost kept walking — it wasn’t any of my business — but something made me stop and look. Through the trees, I saw a group of older boys gathered in a circle. They were laughing
loudly, pushing someone back and forth between them. Then I saw who it was: Kevin.
My heart started racing. There were four of them, big guys from the senior class. Kevin’s books had been knocked to the ground, and every time he tried to pick them up, someone would kick them away. His glasses had fallen off and one of the boys stepped on them, crushing them into the dirt. Kevin’s face was pale with fear. He looked smaller than ever, trapped and helpless.
I stood there frozen for a moment. A voice in my head said, Keep walking. This isn’t your problem. But another voice, quieter but stronger, said, If not you, then who
I took a deep breath. My legs felt weak, but I made them move. I walked toward the group, trying to look calmer than I felt. As I got closer, one of the boys noticed me and nudged (用肘亲触) his friend. They all turned to stare.
“Hey,” I said, my voice coming out shakier than I wanted. “Leave him alone. ”
The biggest one stepped forward, a scorn (轻蔑) on his face. “Or what You gonna make us ”
I didn’t have an answer. I had no plan, no backup, no idea what to do next. But I didn’t step back. I just stood there, looking at them, hoping they couldn’t see how scared I was.

1 .续写词数应为 150 左右;
For a long moment, no one moved.

today’s world where we forget to live in the present.
The book teaches me a lot of things, the most important being — to be who you are. Why do we need to pretend to be somebody else and project a false image
of ourselves to look better We need to realize that we are all different in our own way and accept ourselves first. 故选 A。
文章倒数第二段讲到“I believe the nicest and sweetest days are not those on which anything very splendid or wonderful or exciting happens but just those that bring simple little pleasures (我相信,最美好、最甜蜜的日子并不是那些发生了任何精彩、美妙或激动人心的事情的日子,而是那些带来简单小快乐的日子)”可知,生活中的点滴小事情就是最美好、最
文章最后一段讲到“With its uplifting and refreshing story, it is a wonderful read for people of all ages seeking a joyful and enriching literary journey.

Shy children tend to keep quiet in everyday life, including
communicating with others. The study points out that the behavior can make judging a child’s
language abilities more challenging since shy children find it harder to verbally engage with
testers (that’s when children are required to speak out) than during less socially demanding
The results showed significant differences in children’s
performance across the tasks depending on shyness. Shyer children did worse in the verbal task
than the less-shy children of the same age. However, all children performed well in the pointing
task independent of their shyness level. The looking task produced more complicated results,
meaning that shyer children were occasionally more accurate (精确的) but less likely to
根据第五段““A child’s shyness could strongly impact how they will behave in language tasks, ” said Kucker. “When children are given language ability tests, testers should take into account the child’s shyness level, perhaps using tasks that are less socially demanding for
them, such as pointing tasks instead of verbal ones.
A recent study from psychologist Sarah Kucker at Oklahoma State University suggests shyness can influence a child’s performance in language

In the summer of 2021, an unseasonal event took place.
More than 100 miles of Florida’s coast around Tampa Bay became an oxygen-depleted (缺氧的)
As ocean and atmospheric scientists focus on climate, we believe that oceanic oxygen levels are the next big victim of global warming. To stop the situation from
worsening, we need to expand our attention to include the dangerous state of oceanic oxygen
levels — the life-support system of our planet. We need to accelerate ocean-based climate
solutions that boost oxygen.
We celebrated the return of humpback whales in recent years to an increasingly clean New York Harbor and Hudson River. However, dead fish blocked the
Hudson in the summer as warmer waters carried less oxygen.(近年来,我们庆祝座头鲸回归日益清洁的纽约港和哈德逊河。
But water without adequate oxygen cannot support life. For the three billion people who depend on coastal fisheries for income, declining ocean
对于依靠沿海渔业获取收入的 30 亿人来说,海洋含氧量的下降是毁灭性的)” 、第三段中“We need to accelerate ocean-based climate solutions that boost oxygen. Examples include nature-based solutions such as those discussed at the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) held in

impressions are made within seven seconds of meeting someone new.(真正了解一个人是需要时 间的,但第一印象往往决定了一个人是否愿意花更多的时间来了解你。
People want to feel respected before they show you the same respect.
Don’t be afraid to show that you are interested in someone. In fact, people often see
passion (激情) as a charming sign of strength and inspiration. Showing your enthusiasm by
smiling or using friendly humor will make you seem easy-going.(不要害怕表现出你对某人感兴趣。
39 .根据后文“Body language is as important as your words to first impressions. Make sure your posture is good, make strong eye contact (眼神接触) and try to express your interest in others.(对于第一印象来说,肢体语言和你的语言一样重要。
Try to avoid the bad days. If something unfortunate happens, you don’t have to
follow a scheduled meeting on the day. 如果不幸的事情发生了,你不必遵循当天的预定见面)”以及后文“Let them know you don’t want unfavorable things to affect them. It’ll show your ability to communicate effectively.

I am Li Jin, an exchange student from China. Knowing that Chinese Workshop will be held in the school, I am writing to apply for taking part in the activity.
The theme of the activity involves Chinese food, traditional Chinese handicrafts, Chinese calligraphy and painting. So I think this activity is very significant, which is conducive to spreading excellent traditional Chinese culture and promoting cultural exchanges between China and Britain. As a Chinese, I have a passion for making Chinese cuisine, for example dumplings. Not only can I teach participants how to make dumplings, but also let them fall in love with Chinese cuisine.
I would appreciate it if you would enroll me in the event. Looking forward to your reply.
Sincerely yours,
Li Jin

For a long moment, no one moved. The biggest boy stared at me, waiting for me to back down. I forced myself to hold his gaze, even though my heart was pounding. Then one of the others muttered, “Someone’s coming.” Footsteps approached behind me. The big boy shrugged. “Whatever. Not worth it.” He nodded to his friends, and they walked off. I turned to Kevin. He was still on the ground, head down, shoulders shaking. I knelt and helped him gather his books.
When we reached his house, Kevin stopped and turned to me. “No one has ever done that for me,” he said quietly. “Thank you.” His simple words hit me harder than I expected. I had almost walked past the park that day. I had almost let fear win. As I headed home, I couldn’t stop thinking about all the other “Kevins” in our school—the ones I had never noticed, never greeted never seen. That night, I made a quiet promise: from now on, I would be someone who sees.
