When people think of traveling to China, they usually imagine seeing the Great Wall or enjoying delicious
food. But for Amie, a young British woman, China means something else — medical treatment.
Amie has been feeling sick for some time. In her home country, getting a doctor’s appointment (预约) is not
easy. “I would wait at least two weeks just to see my local doctor,” she says. “But in China, in those same two
weeks, I could finish my treatment!”
Her video on TikTok about this decision has been watched by over 400,000 people. She explains (解释) that
flying thousands of miles to Beijing feels easier than waiting in the UK’s long medical queues (队伍). Amie wants
people to know: “This is not about criticizing the NHS workers. My mom worked for the NHS for 20 years. The
workers are great, but the waiting time is the problem.”
How does the UK Medical System Work In the UK, there is a clear process for getting medical care. When
someone feels sick, they must first see a GP (General Practitioner). A GP is a local doctor who knows your health
history. You cannot go directly to a hospital specialist — the GP must refer you first. This means the GP decides if
you really need to see a specialist. If yes, the GP writes a referral letter (介绍信). Then, you wait for the hospital to
give you an appointment. Each step takes time, which creates long waiting lists. This system is why Amie faces
such long delays before getting treatment.
( ) 29. Why did Amie choose to go to China for medical treatment
A. Because she couldn’t afford treatment in the UK.
B. Because the waiting time in the UK was too long.
C. Because her mother worked for the NHS in China.
D. Because she wanted to travel and see the Great Wall.
( ) 30. What’s the meaning of “criticizing” in paragraph 3
A. Pay no attention to B. Saying bad things about
C. Introducing or describing D. Saying good things about
( ) 31. In the UK’s medical system, what must a patient do FIRST when feeling sick
A. Write a referral letter. B. Wait for an appointment.
C. See a GP (General Practitioner). D. Go directly to a hospital specialist.
( ) 32. What can we learn from the passage
A. Different countries have different medical systems.
B. Everyone should go to China for treatment.
C. The UK’s medical system is very bad.
D. China’s medical system is perfect.

“Quickly, Dorothy,” she shouted. “Go to the cellar (地窖).”
Aunt Em ran to the door of the cellar and opened it. Dorothy picked up Toto and ran to the cellar door. Before
she could climb down the ladder into the cellar, a strong wind picked up the house. It turned it round and round and
round and then carried it high into the sky.
It was not very dark. Dorothy felt as if she were riding through the sky. She held on to Toto and climbed under
her bed, where she stayed for several hours. Then, although the house was still moving, she fell asleep.
When she woke up — she did not know how much later — the house was on the ground. It was in a field
full of flowers, and there were hundreds of beautifully colored birds flying about and singing. Not far away, there
was a stream with clear, fresh water.
Dorothy was still under her bed. She got up and left the house. She was surprised to see three little men and a
little woman walking toward her. They were very strangely dressed. The men’s clothes were white and had little
stars all over them.
When they saw Dorothy, they walked up to her and bowed.
“Welcome to the land of the Munchkins,” one of the little men said. “We thank you for killing the Wicked
Witch of the East. Now our people are free.”
“I’m afraid you are making a mistake,” Dorothy said. “I didn’t kill any witch.” “Your house did,” one of the
little men said. “Look!”
He pointed to the house. Dorothy saw two feet sticking out from under it. “Oh!” Dorothy shouted. “The house
fell on her. What can I do ”
“There is nothing to do,” the little woman said. “The Wicked Witch of the East is dead, and the Munchkins are
thankful to you.”
“Are you a Munchkin ” Dorothy asked.
“No, but I am their friend,” the little woman said. “I am the Witch of the North.”

Millions of Chinese people were shocked by the news: Zhang Xuefeng, a famous education advisor who
helped students choose universities, passed away suddenly at the age of 41. He died of sudden cardiac arrest
(SCA)(心脏骤停), a heart problem that happens almost without warning.
What surprised many people was that Zhang looked healthy. He loved sports and kept exercising. His death
teaches us an important lesson: heart problems can happen to anyone, even young people who exercise regularly.
Sudden cardiac arrest means the heart suddenly stops pumping blood. When this happens, the brain (大脑 )
loses oxygen within minutes. Without quick help, a person can die shortly after. In China, over 550,000 people die
from SCA every year, and the number is rising among young adults.
How can we keep our hearts healthy
First, listen to your body. If you have chest pain or trouble breathing during exercise, stop immediately and
tell an adult.
Second, balance work and rest. Staying up all night to study or play games is bad for your heart. Your body
needs 8 hours of sleep to get proper rest.
Third, manage stress. School pressure is real, but find healthy ways to deal with it. Talk to friends, listen to
music, or play sports you enjoy.
Fourth, eat wisely. Too much fried food, bubble tea, and sugary snacks can hurt your heart over time. Eat more
vegetables and fruits. Drink more water as well.
Finally, regular check-ups matter. Don’t wait until you’re sick to see a doctor. Annual health checks can find
problems early.
Zhang Xuefeng taught us about university choices, but his final lesson is about life itself. Health is not
everything, but without health, nothing else matters. Start with small steps today. Your heart works 24 hours a day
for you. Isn’t it time you took good care of it
( ) 37. Why were many people surprised by Zhang’s death
A. Because he was very rich and famous. B. Because he looked healthy and loved sports.
C. Because he was quite old and often sick. D. Because he had no heart problems before.
( ) 38. What can you infer from the passage
A. SCA is not serious and requires no quick help.
B. SCA affects the stomach instead of the heart.
C. Only old people can die from SCA every year.
D. Quick help is very important for SCA patients.
( ) 39. Which of the following is NOT mentioned (提及) to prevent SCA
A. Listening to your body carefully. B. Balancing work and rest properly.
C. Managing stress in healthy ways. D. Taking medicine for chest pain.
( ) 40. What is the writer’s advice at the end of the passage
A. We should start caring for our hearts now.
B. We should work 24 hours without resting.
C. We should see doctors only when we’re sick.
D. We should stop sports to protect our hearts

When we think of golf, we picture green fields in Scotland, players wearing special clothes, and the famous
18-hole game. But what if we told you that 56 very similar game existed in China over 1,000 years ago
During China’s Song Dynasty (960-1279), people loved playing a game 57 (call) “chuiwan.” The
word “chui” means “to hit,” and “wan” means “ball.” Players used ten different clubs (击棍) to hit wooden balls
toward colorful flags. The place where they started was called the ji, or base, which worked like a modern tee (发
球区).
Ancient 58 (painting) show us more surprising details. One painting from the Ming Dynasty
(1368-1644) shows Emperor Xuanzong playing chuiwan on a course that looks exactly like a putting green (高尔
夫球场 ) today. The clubs in these paintings also look very similar to modern golf clubs, with long handles and
special heads for hitting the ball.
The game was so popular that it 59 (have) its own rulebook called Wan Jing, or “Classic of the Ball”
during the Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368). This book not only explained the rules 60 taught players about
good sportsmanship and proper behavior — similar to how modern golf values etiquette (礼仪规矩) and respect.
61 , chuiwan became less popular during the Ming and Qing Dynasty and finally disappeared (消失)
after the two 62 (dynasty). Meanwhile, in Scotland during the 1400s, people developed the modern game
of golf. The Scots 63 (create) the 18-hole system and wrote the 64 (one) official rules in 1744.
So who really invented golf The truth is, both China and Scotland played important roles. China gave the
world an early version of the game, while Scotland developed it into the modern sport we know today. Maybe golf
is 65 (international) than we thought!

enjoy ourselves.
As a student, I feel proud of Huai’an. I will study hard to make our city better. I hope it will
become more powerful and more beautiful.
