情节一:回忆描写
描写句式:When ...,all those + adj.+ memories / things rushed into one's mind.当…… 时,所有那些…… 的回忆都涌上了某人的心头。
Eg.(2023 年新高考全国 Ⅰ&II 卷)When I was about to give up during the writing process, all those encouraging words from the teacher and the scene of the teacher laughing heartily at my Titanic play rushed into my mind, giving me the motivation to keep writing.
(当“我”在写作过程中想要放弃时,老师鼓励自己的话语以及老师之前看到自己表演泰坦尼克号沉船戏剧时开怀大笑的场景,都涌上了心头,让“我”有了继续坚持写作的动力。)
Eg.(2022 年新高考 I 卷)When David stood at the starting line of the cross - country race and saw the energetic appearance of the surrounding classmates, all those memories of falling and getting up again and again during training and the scenes of teachers and classmates constantly encouraging him rushed into his mind, making David more determined to participate in the race.

情节二:后悔描写
描写句式:Realizing the terrible situation sb. was in, sb. thought to oneself, “If only I had (not) done ...意识到自己处于如此糟糕的境地,某人心想,“要是我 (没有)…… 就好了。
Eg.(2024 年新高考 I 卷)Realizing the terrible situation I was in when I couldn't pay for the taxi and was about to miss the bus, I thought to myself, “If only I had checked the payment methods in advance or exchanged some local cash before departure.”
(当“我”不能支付车费,即将错过巴士,“我”意识到处于糟糕的情况中,心想:“要是我出发前多检查一下支付方式,或者换一些当地现金就好了。”)
Eg.(2022 年新高考 II 卷)Realizing the terrible situation they were in when they found that the flood prevention measures they had prepared were insufficient and caused great losses to the neighbor's house, Evan and his grandfather thought to themselves, “If only we had prepared more fully before, prepared more sandbags or come up with better flood prevention methods earlier.”

情节三:改过自新

(意识到自己对写作比赛的错误后,“我”决心认真对待写作,不再敷衍,而是花费大量时间和精力去打磨文章)
Eg.(2022 年新高考 I 卷)Having recognized the mistake of his initial hesitation and decision to give up the cross-country race because of his brain disease, David determined to overcome his inner fear. Instead of running away, he bravely stood at the starting line to participate in the race.
(大卫起初因为自己患有大脑疾病,对参加越野赛跑有所犹豫,甚至决定不参加。但在老师和同学们的鼓励下,大卫决心克服内心的恐惧,不再逃避,而是勇敢地站在起跑线上,参加比赛。)
情节四:冲突/矛盾加剧
描写句式:With + 恶化的情况,sb. was on the verge of collapse, completely at a loss about what to do. 因为……,某人处于崩溃边缘,完全不知道怎么办。
Eg.(2024 年新高考 I 卷)With the bus departure time approaching rapidly, the card machine rejecting my payment, and the cash machine out of order, I was on the verge of collapse, completely at a loss about how to catch the bus and reach Prague for the crucial conference.
(因巴士发车时间即将到了,刷卡机坏了,拒绝了“我”的支付,“我”面临错过重要会议的困境,内心充满无助与焦急。)
Eg.(2023 年新高考全国 Ⅰ&II 卷)With the teacher asking for rewrite after rewrite and the competition deadline approaching, I, already struggling with writing in a second language, was on the verge of collapse, completely at a loss about how to meet the teacher's expectations and produce a winning essay.
(英语是“我”的第二语言,用它写作很困难。因老师让“我”一遍遍重写,比赛截止日期又要到了,“我”处于崩溃边缘,对能否达到老师的期待以及在比赛中取得好成绩感到迷茫和焦虑。)
情节五:努力白费
描写句式:Despite all the efforts sb. had made,…尽管某人已经竭尽全力,…… (情况没有好转)。
Eg.(2024 年新高考 I 卷)Despite all the efforts I had made, such as trying my bank card and running to the cash machine, the situation remained terrible, and the hope of taking the bus to Prague was fading away.(尽管“我”竭尽全力,比如尝试刷卡,跑去取款,但情况依旧糟糕,乘坐巴士去布拉格的希望越来越渺茫。)
Eg.(2023 年浙江卷)Despite all the efforts I had made, like searching everywhere and asking numerous people, the lost item was still nowhere to be found, and the hope was gradually diminishing.(尽管“我”竭尽全力,比如四处寻找,询问了许多人,翻遍了可能的地方,可依旧没有找到丢失的物品,希望逐渐变得渺茫。)
情节六:问题解决
Eg.(2024 年新高考 I 卷)Suddenly, it dawned on me that I had a valuable watch in my backpack. Immediately, I proposed to Gunter to use the watch as collateral and promised to come back to redeem it and pay the fare later.
(突然,“我”灵机一动,想起自己背包里还有一块有一定价值的手表。立刻向 Gunter 提议用手表作为抵押,承诺之后会回来赎回并支付车费。)

情节七:美好结局

I paid the fare and gave a generous tip, but Gunter refused the tip and accepted a small souvenir I brought from Prague. We became friends.
