“A hero is any person who is really keen on making the society a better place for all people.” Every time I read the quote, I always have the Australian micro-influencer Tennilles deals in mind.
Who exactly is Tennilles deals Firstly, she's the Mother Teresa of Aussi e supermarkets, dedicated and self-giving. Secondly, I don't know anything about her personally because this content creator doesn't market herself like average influencers. She lets her work speak for itself.
The work in question She posts weekly uploads of supermarket walk-through videos where she carefully goes through major supermarkets to show what's on special that week. Her gentle voice and steady hand accompany you through a sea of yellow price tags which signal special promotions or deals. It's detailed, thoughtful, and necessary work.
Even today, I still remember how I used to eagerly wait for the catalogues (目录) from my favorite supermarkets every Monday. Nothing can outshine the feeling of a hard-to-findEuropean snack or a new washing machine with a 75% discount. For me, browsing (浏览) a
supermarket catalogue produces a pleasure: the anticipation of what could soon be yours. But the days of glancing through paper catalogues are over. That's why Tennilles deals is so important, giving us tight, three-minute videos that provide us with a 360-degree view of each product: a walking, talking catalogue.
There's a reason that Tennilles deals has almost 100,000 followers. What Tennilles deals is doing is building community. One fan comments that she should have been awarded“theAustralian of the Year”, and my only way to give credit to her is via this public essay.
24. What distinguishes Tennilles deals from typical influencers
A. Her focus on personal brand. B. Her choice of supermarkets.
C. Her practical video content. D. Her unique marketing style.
25. What is the theme of Tennilles deals’ videos
A. The operation of supermarkets. B. The display of discounted items.
C. The presentation of new products. D. The exposure of product packaging.
26. Why does the author value Tennilles deals’ videos
A. They teach useful video creating strategies.
B. They provide new perspectives on the goods.
C. They replace the need to visit physical stores.
D. They bring back the joy of catalogue browsing.
27. What is the author's purpose in writing this text
A. To praise Tennilles deals’ selfless contribution.
B. To vote Tennilles deals the Australian of the Year.
C. To defend Tennilles deals against online criticism.
D. To show shift from paper catalogues to digital ones.

Currently, most packaging is single-use and is made with plastic materials obtained from nonrenewable resources like fossil oil that take hundreds of years to break down in the environment. On top of this, only 9% of plastic is recycled. This has resulted in the formation of floating piles of plastic garbage in the ocean, called“the Great Pacific Garbage Patch”.Perhaps the biggest contributor to plastic waste, at least in the United States, is plastic bags, the kind found at most stores. These bags, while sometimes recycled, are often only used once and can be found littered throughout the environment.
To address this problem, Srinivas Janaswamy from South Dakota State University is working towards developing a plastic-like bag that will break down in the environment. The key ingredient of Janaswamy's work Cellulose (纤维素). It's a common organic substance onEarth and is found, primarily, in the cell walls of plants. Cellulose gives plants structural strength and firmness thanks to its chemical makeup and long, chain-like form.“By obtaining cellulose from agricultural products, value-added products can be created,” Janaswamy said.
Janaswamy then met Anne Fennell, a leading researcher in the study of grapevines (葡萄藤) which are rich in cellulose. Every year, after the majority of new branches on the vine are cut off, they are either cut into pieces and buried in the soil or burned in some areas.“Since grapevines are plentiful and have insignificant use after harvest, why not use this for value-added films (薄膜) ” Janaswamy thought.
Janaswamy's idea led to cooperation, and soon he was getting cellulose which looks almost like cotton—— from grapevines. Janaswamy's grapevine films are transparent (透明的) and strong, and break down within 17 days in the soil—— leaving behind no harmful remains.“High transparency enhances product visibility and allows a quick check of the quality without even opening the package. These films demonstrate excellent promise for food packaging,” Fennell said.
28. What does the author try to illustrate by mentioning“the Great Pacific Garbage Patch” inParagraph 1
A. The severe plastic pollution. B. The limits of recycling technology.
C. The improper shopping habits. D. The promise of renewable resources.
29. Why is cellulose essential to Janaswamy's plastic-like bags
A. It can be found everywhere. B. It can be recycled from food waste.
C. It helps form strong structures. D. It breaks down into usable materials.
30. What advantage of the grapevine films does Fennell highlight in the last paragraph
A. Their low expenses. B. Their user-friendliness.
C. Their easy production. D. Their energy-efficiency.
31. Which of the following is the most suitable title for the passage
A. The Plastic Pollution in the Pacific Ocean
B. The Treatment of Grapevines After Harvest
C. Cellulose: A Vital Organic Substance in Plant
D. Grapevine Films: Eco-Friendly Plastic Alternative

A friend recently sent me a video about running a modern game on an old television byYouTuber Any Austin. I thought it'd be silly. But after playing for a little bit, Any Austin realized that, once you get used to it, playing a modern game on an old TV just doesn't feel that different. Sure, there were annoyances—— certain things were cropped off the screen—— but for the most part, the game was just as fun as on a contemporary one.
The psychological phenomenon, known as hedonic adaptation or hedonic treadmill (享乐跑步机), has been documented since at least the 1970s. The process of hedonic adaptation is conceptualized as a treadmill, since no matter how hard one tries to be happier, one remains in the same place. There may be a sudden, large increase in happiness after a wedding, a promotion at work, or buying a new TV, but that is ephemeral— people tend to eventually return to their previous levels of happiness. The same thing is true about negative life changes.
The hedonic adaptation process generally involves cognitive changes, such as shifting values and goals. It can also be driven by the tendency of humans to construct complex reasoning for considering themselves deprived (被剥削的) through a process social theoristGregg Easterbrook calls“abundance denial”. Additionally, neurochemical (神经化学的)processes might reduce the activity of overstimulated hedonic pathways in the brain, which prevents constantly high levels of intense positive or negative feelings.
The same psychological principle is at work when you play games on an old TV.Purchasing your dream TV may initially boost your happiness, making games more enjoyable. However, your satisfaction will eventually return to its baseline level. Later, upon learning of a newer model, you may make another purchase to regain that initial boost.
So spending more time thinking about how much you enjoy the things you already have can help sustain satisfaction longer. The key isn't to avoid technology but to realize how quickly we get used to improvements.
32. What did Any Austin think of playing the game on an old TV
A. Pleasant. B. Demanding. C. Simple. D. Depressing.
33. What does the underlined word“ephemeral” in paragraph 2 probably mean
A. Consistent. B. Temporary. C. Predictable. D. Dominant.
34. What is Paragraph 3 mainly about
A. The neurochemical factors in emotion regulation.
B. The different theories proposed by social theorists.
C. The emotional consequence of hedonic treadmill.
D. The underlying mechanism of hedonic adaptation.
35. What is the author's suggestion on resisting the desire for new things
A. Rejecting advanced electronics. B. Purchaing fewer products.
C. Appreciating current possessions. D. Upgrading existing facilities.
Instant noodles, a food that holds unique emotional value for many, have experienced a remarkable transformation in modern diets. Initially created to provide quick meals, they offered an economical, long-lasting solution for times when cooking wasn't practical. 36 Their core value was to satisfy hunger quickly and cheaply, with taste being a secondary consideration to function and cost.
Today, consumers are paying closer attention to labels and actively seeking cleaner ingredients when making food choices. As a result, traditional instant noodles are increasingly viewed as outdated or even unhealthy., 37 Consumers can choose takeout or ready-to-cook meals, which typically offer a more favorable mix of convenience and nutrition compared to traditional instant noodles.
38 Some brands offer organic, low-additive, or entirely plant-based options, while others focus on eco-friendly packaging. High-end instant noodle lines, often inspired by regional cuisines, are also gaining popularity, turning a basic snack into a dining pleasure.
Despite these improvements, even“healthier” instant noodles still remain nutritionally limited. To enjoy them more mindfully, try boosting their nutritional value by adding fresh vegetables, eggs, or meat, and using only half or less of the seasoning packet (调料包) to reduce salt and additives. 39
In conclusion, the story of instant noodles is one of adaptation as well as a reminder to make thoughtful food choices in our fast-paced lives. 40 As technology advances and consumer expectations rise, the next generation of instant meals will likely be tastier, cleaner, and more sustainable. Yet sometimes all we really need is a warm bowl of comfort—— prepared wisely.
A. Several factors have made them less popular lately.
B. Therefore, they were criticized for being unhealthy.
C. In response, demand has moved towards healthier choices.
D. Driven by these trends, the industry is reinventing the product.
E. For decades, instant noodles stood for convenience and affordability.
F. In the future, instant noodles need to balance tradition with innovation.
G. Above all, just save instant noodles for emergencies, not everyday dinners.

It was a cold autumn day, I had just returned from school with a recommendation from my principal to apply to whichever school I pleased next. Looking out the window reminded me of how much I would miss this place: my garden, the crunch (嘎吱声) of autumn leaves under her feet, and other pleasant things.
The season of hot coffee and relaxing reading sessions by the fireplace was here. But beforeI could enjoy any of it, came the news of my father's transfer to another city. I would have to leave my school and my friends. At 12 years of age, I was far from ready for such a change, but old enough to understand that life happens. So we moved.
The new house was spacious, and Mum's talent for decoration made everything comfortable and bright in no time. Still, life felt unsettled. “They are already halfway through the coursework in my classes,” I sighed while sitting with the family one evening.“So get some help. I'm sure your teachers and new classmates will give you a helping hand,” Dad said. He was sure I would catch up with the schoolwork since I had always been a hardworking student.“But there's no one I' ve really built connection with so far,” I continued.“I'm sure you' ll be fine, little girl. Remember how you were the basketball star at your old school Just reach out and relax,” Mum said softly.
Schoolwork was not the only thing on my mind. The move had felt like a complete life transformation. I had no friends or clubs I was part of, and everywhere I went, it seemed like the world was already in order—— places were already filled, with no space left for me. That night, I went to bed early but found no rest. Dad's encouraging words and Mum's advice that Ishould“just reach out” cycled through my mind, and despite my doubts, I decided to have a go.

Possible version one:
Should Students Take Mobile Phones for the Hiking
Our school is to organize a hiking trip next week, which has aroused a heated debate among students over whether it is necessary to bring mobile phones. Personally, I am firmly convinced that carrying mobile phones is a sensible choice for the hiking.
First of all, mobile phones ensure our safety. If we get lost or feel uncomfortable unexpectedly, we can contact teachers or parents at once. Besides, the positioning function of phones can prevent us from losing our way. What's more, we can take photos to record the beautiful scenery and the happy time with our classmates, which will become precious memories. In addition, we can check the weather or hiking routes with phones to make the activity smooth.
Taking all these factors into account, it is advisable for us to take mobile phones, as they bring considerable convenience and safety to the hiking activity.
Possible version two:
Should Students Take Mobile Phones for the Hiking
A hiking activity is on the schedule of our school for the coming week, and whether students should take mobile phones along has aroused widespread discussion. From my perspective, it is more appropriate to leave mobile phones at home during the hiking.
To begin with, mobile phones will distract our attention. Instead of enjoying the natural beauty or talking with friends, many students may focus on phone screens, thus missing the real fun of hiking. Moreover, phones are an extra burden. The battery dies quickly outdoors, and carrying them makes us more tired. Besides, staying away from electronic devices helps us develop independence. We can solve small problems on our own and fully experience the pleasure of outdoor activities.
In summary, keeping mobile phones at home enables us to immerse ourselves in the hiking and embrace the joy of outdoor exploration to the fullest.
The next day, I tried to interact with as many classmates as she could. And sure enough, Iclicked with a group of basketball-loving girls in class. With their encouragement, I tried out for the school team. To my delight, I secured a spot. Not only did I find a place on the court, but also some girls who were willing to help me catch up on my lessons after school. I had to give up some free time for extra learning and gather the courage to ask for help. But it all paid off.
I slowly became part of this new world, growing like never before. I even found myself thriving in my new life. On the court, I found not just a sport, but a language of teamwork and trust. The city that once felt vast and empty now held familiar corners and friendly faces.“You’ ve started to like this place, haven't you ” Mum asked.“Yes, I have. And I think the place has started to like me too,”I said with a smile, realizing that life will always keep changing, all depending on how you choose to face it.

Plus, their homes should always have access to drinkable water. As for indoor pets, it's always preferable to either take them to a pet hotel or ask someone to take care of them.
M: OK. But what if people want to take their pets with them on vacation
W: I'd say diet matters. Fish bones and chocolate are harmful to their health. So, check that your friends or relatives are not feeding them special treats.
M: Plastic toy parts or Christmas tree decorations are also dangerous, right
W: Definitely. You might be surprised to hear that many pets have died from eating these items. So you can never be too careful!
(Text 10)
W: Good morning, everyone! I' ve been an educator for over a decade. My online teaching journey started when I created a social media channel to teach math two years ago. Every week, I post a video which is about 10 minutes long. The videos are independent lessons with examples and practice problems. To make the content appealing, I use real-world applications to explain abstract concepts. And I guess this approach has been a hit. After all, my channel has grown to over 50,000 followers. However, the path hasn't been smooth. I initially struggled with video production, such as lighting and sound quality. It took several months of trial and error to reach a professional level. I also had to learn to create interactive content and start a blog on advanced topics and study tips. Despite these challenges, the feedback from students has been rewarding. Many have shared how my videos help them understand concepts they found difficult. I hope my journey can inspire all educators here to explore digital teaching. Thank you for listening.

She lets her work speak for itself.”以及第三段“Her gentle voice and steady hand accompany you through a sea of yellow price tags which signal special promotions or deals. It's detailed, thoughtful, and necessary work.”

根据第一段“Currently, most packaging is single-use… only 9% of plasticis recycled. This has resulted in the formation of floating piles of plastic garbage in the ocean, called‘the Great Pacific Garbage Patch.’” 故选 A。
根据第二段“Cellulose gives plants structural strength and firmness thanks toits chemical makeup and long, chain-like form.”

根据文章第一段内容“once you get used to it, playing a modern game onan old TV just doesn't feel that different… the game was just as fun as on a contemporary one”可知,适应之后, Any Austin 觉得体验依然令人愉快,游戏仍然好玩。 故选 A。
根据第二段“…… but that is ephemeral — people tend to eventually return totheir previous levels of happiness”可知,句中表示的是:幸福感的提升是短暂的,很快会消失,人们很快恢复到以前的幸福水平。
根据文章最后一段“So spending more time thinking about how much youenjoy the things you already have can help sustain satisfaction longer”可知,作者建议对抗不断想购买新物品的欲望的方法,是多花时间去欣赏已经拥有的东西,从而延长满足感。故选 C。

D“Drivenby these trends, the industry is reinventing the product”可以概括这一段内容。故选 D。
G“Above all, just save instant noodles for emergencies, not everyday dinners”与上文衔接自然,强调泡面不宜作为日常主食,也符合段首句“泡面在营养上仍然有限”的段落主旨。故选 G。
空后句“As technology advances...” F“In the future, instant noodles need tobalance tradition with innovation.”

第一段:段首句为“The next day, I tried to interact with as many classmates as I could”,抓住以下层次展开, reached out to classmates to play basketball——built connection with them—— classmates gave me a helping hand——I caught up with my schoolwork;
第二段:段首句为“I slowly became part of this new world, growing like never before.”,着重描述以篮球为契机,我的改变和成长。主题围绕“teamwork, trust, help, friendship”“how to change the life for the better with courage”均可,能自圆其说就行。
