Vitamin C wears many hats in the human body, and its benefits go far beyond just helping you
fight off a cold.
Vitamin C helps produce white blood cells, your body's first line of defense against infection. It
also strengthens the skin's natural barrier, making it harder for harmful microbes (微生物)to get in.
Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant. It helps fight harmful free radicals (自由基 ) that can
damage cells and contribute to aging and diseases like cancer and heart disease.
Vitamin C is critical for making collagen (胶原蛋白), the protein that keeps your skin firm,
your joints flexible, and your connective tissues strong. It also supports skin health, wound healing,
and even maintains healthy gums.
Vitamin C helps your body absorb non-heme iron found in plant-based foods like spinach and
beans. This is especially important for vegetarians, pregnant women, or anyone at risk of iron
shortage.
高二英语试题 第 1 页 共 10 页
The amount of Vitamin C needed each day varies among people:
Children:40-75 mg/day;
Teenagers:90 mg/ day;
Adults:100 mg/day;
Vitamin C is found in various fruits and vegetables, especially fresh, raw produce. Including a
mix of these foods in your diet is a smart way to meet your daily Vitamin C needs.
Fruits Approximate Vitamin C (per 100 g) Vegetables Approximate Vitamin C (per 100 g)
Kiwi 92 mg Red bell peppers 190 mg
Papaya 60 mg Kale 120 mg
Strawberries 59 mg Broccoli 89 mg
Oranges 53 mg Cauliflower 48 mg
Pineapple 48 mg Spinach (raw) 28 mg
Mango 36 mg Tomatoes 14 mg
1.Which is a benefit of Vitamin C?______
A. It kills harmful microbes. B. It damages white blood cells.
C. It resists harmful free radicals. D. It helps produce non-heme iron.
2.Which combination can meet the daily need of Vitamin C for a teenager?______
A. 50 g spinach and 100 g papaya. B. 50 g tomatoes and 100 g mango.
C. 50 g broccoli and 100 g pineapple. D. 50 g cauliflower and 100 g oranges.

Living and dealing with kids can be a tough job these days, but living and dealing with parents
can be even tougher.
If I have learned anything in my 16 years, it is that communication is very important, both when
you disagree and when you get along. With any relationship, you need to let other person know how
you are feeling. If you are not able to communicate, you drift apart. When you are mad at your
parents, or anyone else, not talking to them doesn't solve anything.
Communication begins with the concerns of another. It means that you can't just come home
from school, go up to your room and ignore everyone. Even if you just say "Hi", and see how their
高二英语试题 第 2 页 共 10 页
day was for five minutes, it is better than nothing.
If you looked up the word "communication" in a dictionary, it would say "the exchange of
ideas, the conveyance(表达) of information, correspondence(通信), means of communication:a
letter or a message". To maintain a good relationship, you must keep communication strong. Let
people know how you feel, even if it's just by writing a note.
When dealing with parents, you always have to make them feel good about how they are doing
as a parent. If you are trying to make them see something as you see it, tell them that you'll listen to
what they have to say, but ask them politely to listen to you. Yelling or walking away only makes the
situation worse.
This is an example:one night, Sophie went to a street party with her friends. She knew she had
to be home by midnight after the fireworks, but she didn't feel she could just ask to go home. That
would be rude. After all, they had been nice enough to take her along with them. Needless to say, she
was late getting home. Her parents were mad at first, but when Sophie explained why she was late,
they weren't as mad and let the incident munication is the key factor here. If Sophie's parents
had not been willing to listen, Sophie would have been in a lot of trouble.
Communication isn't a one-way deal: it goes both ways. Just remember: if you get into a
situation like Sophie's, telling the other person how you feel---listening is the key factor to
communication.
4. In the writer's view, dealing with parents is______ than with children.
A. more difficult B. easier
C. more uninteresting D. more interesting
5.When parents and children are in communication, the key to a happy relationship is that ______ .
A. children should always obey their parents B. they should be equal
C. parents play the leading part D. both make the opposite know their feelings
6.The example in this passage proves that______ .
A. Sophie's parents are willing to listen to her
B. Sophie is very polite to her parents
C. Sophie did well in explaining her being late
D. communication is the solution to misunderstanding
7.All the following statements are correct except "______ ".
A. If you don't agree with others, you'd better let them know
B. It is better to say "Hi" to others than say nothing
C. If you are not able to communicate, walk away

I had been considering giving up. For the past eight years, I’ve met with future freshmen as a
volunteer interviewer for my alma mater (母校). The reports I submit after the interviews become
part of their admissions file. But each time I see the word “Denied” next to one of my interviewees’
names, I feel a little more heartbroken.
Don’t get me wrong. I’ve gotten to know many inspiring kids, but none of my interviewees was
green-lighted. I started to wonder: In expressing my enthusiasm for my university in interviews, was
I doing them a favor or setting them up for disappointment Was it fair of me to share an inside look
into my university when most won’t have access to it
Then, out of the blue, I received a text from one of “my” admits, Layla. She thanked me for
getting her into my university. I was touched, but I thought she was wrong. I knew she didn’t
understand how the university really decides who to accept.
We met for coffee a few months later, and she delighted me with a detailed discussion of her
classes, her professors, her research, and her friends. Her eyes were bright, her excitement visible.
She told me she had submitted a request to spend 20 minutes with her admissions file. I couldn’t
understand why she wanted to take the time to look. Couldn’t she just enjoy being a new student
without worrying about whether she should be admitted
As it turns out, Layla learned that the admissions officer who first read her file was on the fence
about her but then decided to put her application through for another read because of what I’d written
in my interview report. My voice had made a difference.
Layla found the relief she’d been looking for: Why was she here Did she really matter to this
incredible community Seeing her put her worries to rest helped me do the same with my own.
Maybe sometimes we all need to hear that we matter.
8.What made the author consider giving up the volunteer work
A. Getting tired of writing interview reports.
B. Failing to help some of the promising kids.
C. Disappointment with interviewees’ abilities.
D. Inability to stimulate interviewees’ enthusiasm.
9.Initially, the author regarded Layla’s thank-you text as ________.
A. a relief B. an interruption C. a reward D. a misunderstanding
10.Why did Layla request to review her admissions file
A. To ease her worries about future. B. To clarify the author’s confusion.
高二英语试题 第 4 页 共 10 页
C. To confirm she deserved the admission. D. To prove the author’s report played a role.
11.What can we learn from this passage
A. Each soul needs a witness.
B. Every cloud has a silver lining.
C. What goes around comes around.
D. What matters always voices itself.
D
The inability for adults to recall earliest experiences has puzzled psychologists for over a
century. While it was initially thought that young brains were not capable of forming lasting
memories, research now indicates that memories are formed in early childhood but later become
inaccessible.
Cristina Alberini, a neurologist, did relevant research. He found that memories formed during
the infantile amnesia period(婴儿失忆期) are, in fact, stored in the brain until adulthood, even though
they aren't consciously remembered. In both animal and human adults, forming and storing
long-term memories about one's life experiences isn't possible without the hippocampus, a brain
region critical for memory. Alberini's work has also shown that the region develops significantly in
early childhood.
Different experiences may also explain why the age at which people recall their first memories
varies significantly. Wang, an expert in how culture affects memory, has shown that the earliest
memories in Americans date from an age of about 3.5 years, almost six months younger than those in
Chinese people. The American memories tend to be more self-focused and emotionally complex,
while the Chinese recollections often centre on collective activities and general routines, she found.
Another explanation for the difference seems to be how parents discuss past experiences with
their children. In Maori, New Zealand, first memories emerge earlier than in those of a European
background at about 2.5 years old. Prof Elaine Reese at the University of Otago, who studies
memory in children and adolescents, points to a strong emphasis on oral traditions in Maori culture
but also thorough conversations when remembering past events. The question, says Alberini, is how
the earliest experiences affect our life forever if they are forgotten.
12.Why are the psychologists puzzled according to Paragraph 1
A. People's early memories are accessed.
B. Adults can't recall earliest experiences.
C. Young brains are not developed enough.
高二英语试题 第 5 页 共 10 页
D. Children can form their lasting memories.
13.What does Alberini's research suggest
A. Experiences are consciously remembered.
B. Memories fail to be stored in young brains.
C. Humans are better at forming memories than animals.
D. Hippocampus plays a critical role in storing memories.
14.What may impact the age of people's recalling memories
A. Cultural differences and parenting styles.
B. Collective activities and general routines.
C. Mature Hippocampus and complex emotions.
D. Traditional events and thorough conversations.
15.What will probably be discussed in the following paragraphs
A. The solution psychologists will work on.
B. The way early childhood memories affect life.
C. The reason why adults can't recall memories.
D. The place where lasting memories are stored.
第二节 七选五(共 5 小题;每小题 2.5 分,满分 12.5 分)
阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项,并在答题卡上将该项
涂黑。选项中有两项为多余选项。
Avalanche dogs help locate skiers and snowboarders buried in the snow. They’re excellent at
search and rescue because of years of training, their agility(敏捷性) and an amazing sense of smell.
16 They are left to a handler, an owner who will take charge of their training but also care
for them like a beloved pet. That first winter handlers will ski around with dogs in their jackets to
make them get used to resort life and all the sights, sounds, and smells that come with being a rescue
dog. By the end of the season, they'll begin obedience(服从)training and practice drills to build their
drive to search and rescue. First, the dog is familiarized with human scent(气味)thanks to plenty of
time with the handler. Then, in runaway training, the handler gets the dog excited, tells it to stay,
runs away and hides. 17 .
Dogs have a very impressive sense of smell. 18 That's because humans give out something
called skin-rafts, which are lighter than air, so they go up through the snow and collect on top of it in
a sort of pool. As long as handlers can get their dogs into the scent zone, the dogs will walk around
高二英语试题 第 6 页 共 10 页
the area until they find the center of it, which is located directly above a buried skier.
19 Because even if humans were able to discover these scent pools, they cannot skillfully
navigate deep snow. Even equipped with snowshoes humans will find it hard to move quickly while
dogs have little trouble jumping over and through it. As an advantage, dogs don't require equipment
like people do. 20 This all makes them the best rescue tool for those who have been trapped in
the deep snow.
A. Training starts when the dogs are little ones.
B. They often look like the happiest creatures in the snow.
C. They are durable and well-equipped for severe weather.
D. Don't rely only on these trained animals to save your life.
E. Indeed, dogs' agility is what gives them their final strength.
F. It makes them exceptional at finding people buried in the snow.
G. Finally, it must find the hidden handler with the order"search".

Joe, a lively 10-year-old boy from Melbourne, has been crazy about drawing since he was a little
kid. At home, his doodles (涂鸦) were everywhere. You could find them on his bed sheets and even
on the walls of his room. At school, he filled his notebooks with all kinds of sketches---faces full of
emotion, strange and wonderful monsters. Sometimes, he couldn't help but doodle on his classmates'

uniforms and backpacks too.
One day, after quickly finishing his classwork, Joe started doodling on his math book.
Unfortunately, his math teacher noticed it right away. The teacher called him to the office and gave
him a serious scolding. Feeling really frustrated and ashamed, Joe went home and told his parents
what had happened. To his surprise, his parents didn't blame him. His father said, "Well, we know
you love drawing, but classroom is not the right place for it. We don't want you to get into trouble
again. Then they calmly told him not to doodle in class and suggested that he sign up for an art class.
They thought it might be a good way for him to develop his talent.
Then Joe started attending the art class, where he met his art teacher Kenry. When Kenry first
laid eyes on Joe's work, she was truly astonished. Joe had an extraordinary ability to bring his wildest
imagination to life on the paper. With just a simple black pen, he could create detailed and vivid
scenes. Whether it was a cityscape filled with unique architectures, or a magical forest populated by
fantastic creatures, Joe's drawings were nothing short of remarkable. His lines were so precise as if
he had spent countless hours practicing, yet he seemed to draw with effortless ease, a natural talent
that left Kerry in awe.
Kerry was so impressed by Joe's works that she decided to share them on the Internet. Little did
she expect that it would make a hit. People from all over were amazed by the unique creativity and
astonishing details in Joe's doodles.

②To promote a healthier lifestyle, we urge everyone to take action.

have regular, nutritious meals and avoid eating in a rush. Third,

Word quickly spread, and it even caught the attention of a local
small restaurant. The owner, a lover of all things creative, was
immediately attracted. He contacted Joe's family, eager to make a
deal. Understanding their son's passion and potential, Joe's
parents wholeheartedly supported the opportunity. With their
permission, Joe got to work. During weekends, he would
excitedly ead to the restaurant. Standing in front of the once-blank
walls, he let his imagination run wild. He sketched with precision,
outlining the forms of mythical beasts and then painted with bold
strokes, layering colors to create a sense of depth. Each stroke added
a touch of magic, gradually transforming the dull space into a
haven of artistic charm.
The owner of the small restaurant was super satisfied with Joe's
doodles. It turned out his decision was right. Through Joe's doodles,
diners were greeted with a refreshing environment as they walked in .
The small restaurant became known not just for its food but for the
art that colored its walls, appealing to both art enthusiasts and
foodies alike. Joe's confidence soared as he saw people marvel at his
work. He felt thrilled that his talent had the power to transform
spaces and touch lives. Meanwhile it dawned on Joe that, without
parents' and the art teacher's support, he would never have truly
achieved self-fulfillment. He was no longer just a doodling boy; he
was a real artist working wonders.
