Dr. Punam Krishan is a general practitioner — a GP — one of the doctors who stand on
the front line of medicine. GPs treat everyday illnesses, listen carefully to patients’ concerns, and
decide when special medical care is needed. Beyond her work in clinics, Dr. Krishan is also a
familiar face on television and the author of several books, including How to Be a Doctor and
Other Life-Saving Jobs, You and Your Body, and her latest release, The Superhero’s First Aid
Manual.
Her journey into medicine began with caring for others. “It started off with me wanting to
help people understand themselves better,” she once explained. She often noticed when someone
looked unwell and felt driven to ask why. That quiet curiosity led her deeper into science, even
when it was challenging, and eventually toward a life dedicated to healing others.
To Dr. Krishan, being a GP is “one of the most incredible jobs in the world”. Every day,
she meets people from different backgrounds and at different stages of life. With only ten minutes
per patient, she must listen closely, read between the lines, and uncover the truth behind their
symptoms, “It makes me feel a bit like a detective,” she said. Patients may arrive with one
problem or many, and finding the right answer brings a sense of excitement that never fades. She
describes her role as being “a bit of a best friend to people”.
Her newest book was shaped by a deeply personal loss. When she was a child, her
grandfather died, and for years she worried she had missed signs that he was unwell. That
experience stayed with her and formed a powerful belief: recognizing illness can be a life-saving
skill, even for children. Through her book, she teaches young readers to recognize emergencies
such as allergic reactions or heart attacks, and to take simple but vital steps — staying calm,
calling 999, or placing someone in the recovery position. For Dr. Krishan, heroism begins with
care, courage, and knowledge. “Children should know the basics of how to be a superhero in that
moment,” she added.
24.What can we learn about Dr. Krishan from the first paragraph
A.She takes on multiple roles. B.She excels in detailed work.
C.She takes pleasure in reading. D.She aims for public recognition.
25.Why did Dr. Krishan dive into science
A.To tackle the scientific challenges. B.To make up for her childhood regret.
C.To observe the lives of patients better. D.To find explanations for what she observed.
26.How does Dr. Krishan find her work as a GP
A.Fast-paced but fulfilling. B.Stressful but stable.
C.Challenging but well-paid. D.Exhausting but promising.
27.What does Dr. Krishan’s experience indicate according to the last paragraph
A.Better late than never. B.Fix the roof before it rains.
C.Time and tide wait for no man. D.Opportunity favors the prepared mind.

If you could time travel, would you visit the past or the future You could find your
ancestors, descendants, or experience life when dinosaurs wandered in your back garden. It
sounds unrealistic, but scientists have looked into whether time travel is actually possible.
Albert Einstein’s theory of relativity changed understanding of space, time, mass and
第 4 页,共 10 页
gravity. The key element of this theory is that time and space are linked together, and time doesn’t
flow at a constant rate, meaning it speeds up or slows down, depending on where you are. For
example, when you travel at high speeds, time decreases, which means, according to NASA,
astronauts in space moving at high speeds age more slowly than those on Earth! So, if you wanted
to travel to the future, you would need to move close to the speed of light. Then, while centuries
pass on Earth, you’d experience a relatively short amount of time and could hypothetically (假设
地) return home, where it would be the future!
Travelling backwards in time seems much more difficult. Theoretically, one way of going
back is via a wormhole. That means, if space and time can be folded like paper, we could create a
tunnel — a shortcut between points in time. The problem is that there is no evidence that
wormholes exist. “It’s been shown mathematically that they can exist, but whether they exist
physically is something else,” says Emma Osborne, an astrophysicist at the University of York.
Also, theories show that wormholes would be so small that a person definitely couldn’t fit through
one, and they would have such an intense gravitational field that they would collapse very quickly.
For now, it seems we’ll have to be content with science fiction and using telescopes to look
back in time rather than travelling through it.
28.Why does the writer mention Einstein’s theory of relativity
A.To explain how time travel might work. B.To stress the importance of time travel.
C.To describe Einstein’s contributions to science. D.To encourage us to work out the
theory.
29.Why do astronauts age more slowly than those on earth
A.Time flows at the same speed across the universe.
B.Moving faster slows the passage of time.
C.Speed and space are closely connected.
D.The speed of light prevents their aging.
30.Why does travelling backwards in time seem much more difficult
A.Wormholes move faster than the speed of light.
B.Scientists have not studied time travel to the past.
C.Wormholes lack scientific evidence of existence.
D.The speed of light only allows forward movement in time.
31.What is the author’s attitude regarding the possibility of time travel
A.Objective. B.Subjective. C.Indifferent. D.Positive.

People have become used to living with AI quickly, but AI has raised serious worries about
jobs. For if machines outperform people in reading complex legal texts, translating languages or
making arguments, won’t those traditional human workers become irrelevant Yet in reality, this
is not the case. Unemployment in the EU is at a historic low of about 6%, half that of a decade ago.
In the UK, it’s even lower at 5.1% — the level of the prosperous early 2000s — and in the US,
it’s lower, still at 4.4%.
It’s happened before. For example, after the first ATM in the world was launched by
Barclays in London in 1967, there were fears that staff at high street bank branches would become
obsolete. The opposite turned out to be the case. In the US, over the 30-year period of ATM
第 5 页,共 10 页
growth, the number of bank tellers actually increased by 10%. ATMs made it cheaper to open
bank branches and more communities gained access to financial services.
AI will take away some jobs. But just as there has been no immediate AI prosperity when it
comes to economic growth, there is no immediate shift in employment. And in 2016, Geoff
Hinton, a major figure in the development of AI, recommended that the world “should stop
training radiologists (放射科医生)” because robots were getting better than humans at analyzing
images. Ten years later, demand for radiologists in the US is at a record high. AI-driven image
analysis has improved the role of radiologists, by allowing them to treat a far greater number of
patients.
On the other hand, many believed universal access to AI assistants with info-processing and
communication skills would narrow earning inequality. But recent studies found the opposite:
highly skilled professionals benefit most from AI support. In my research with teammates, we
found that giving chess players top-quality advice does little to close the gap between the best and
the worst because lower ability players were less likely to follow high-quality advice. Perhaps this
is AI’s greatest risk: some benefit far more from it than others.
32.What do the statistics in paragraph 1 indicate
A.AI replaces many human traditional jobs.B.Unemployment rates are falling globally.
C.Economic growth can rely on AI heavily.D.Technology may generate new positions.
33.What does the underlined word “obsolete” in paragraph 2 probably mean
A.Perfect. B.Insecure. C.Unnecessary. D.Unwilling.
34.What can we learn about AI’s impact on radiologists
A.AI has replaced radiologists in medical imaging.
B.The demand for radiologists has decreased greatly.
C.AI helps radiologists treat more patients efficiently.
D.Radiologists have lost their professional skills due to AI.
35.What’s the author’s attitude to the view that AI increases workers’ income inequality
A.Unclear. B.Critical. C.Uncertain. D.Approving.

The Unexpected Key to Boosting Our Productivity
Sometimes we may wonder if we were a machine, we’d never let things fall through the
cracks, and we wouldn’t forget things. 36 It gets in the way of our productivity because it makes
us blind to the roots of our actual problems.
So what is underneath our productivity problems 37 Our productivity depends on our
feelings, not new tools. Understanding how our feelings affect us can open up freedom to make
progress and finally improve our productivity. So how
38 That means recognizing and working with our emotions. But usually no matter what
the issue is, we easily ignore it and hope that it goes away rather than to admit something is wrong.
What we forget is that our emotions have great impacts on our actions. The most productive
people need to have regular practices to maintain that awareness.
Once we are aware of the problem, the next step is observing. Though difficult, observing
without judgment counts most. For example, when our inbox (收件箱 ) is messy, we just see it
第 6 页,共 10 页
with little judgment. 39 Avoid feeling anxious, as it prevents us from addressing the root issue.
Finally, try to address our emotions. It is the most effective way to help us be productive
daily. A one-touch email strategy or checking the email twice a day may do a bit, but none of
these really solve the problem completely. Actually we are able to use our own desire that we can’
t let people down to help us get through our inbox. 40
A.ignore our emotions.
B.Awareness is the first step.
C.Identify what causes the mess.
D.We are not machines but emotional beings.
E.But the idea of being a machine is actually a trap.
F.One day, we’ll find that we’ve finished handling all in it.
G.Sometimes, working like a machine is effective and useful.

第二节 (满分 25 分)
67. 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
It was just past noon on a sunny Saturday last August when Jacob Bell heard screaming
coming from the lake, some 50 yards offshore. He sped in his boat toward the scene, where he saw
a girl was drowning. Without thinking, he grabbed the girl’s arms and then pulled her through the
water to the back of the boat, which was more shallow. There, he was able to lift her up and onto
the deck.
As he looked at the unconscious teenager lying on the deck of his boat, he saw her face, her
lips, even her ears were blue. But Bell’s recent CPR training kicked in. Just six months earlier, he
had taken a first-aid course as required for his job as a truck driver. After Bell kept pressing, she
took a deep breath and opened her eyes. She was alive. Once they reached the shore, he continued
rushing her to the hospital. She was released later that day.
It didn’t take long for the media to brand Bell a hero. He was uncomfortable with the praise.
As he explained to his wife, he once made a lot of mistakes in his life, so the idea of being labeled
a hero felt awkward to Bell. But he was happy to get back to work driving for a gas station.
Six weeks after the rescue, as he was driving west of Fort Worth, he soon spotted smoke.
He slowed down to see a car that had apparently hit a telephone pole and was upside down. It was
on fire. He grabbed a fire extinguisher (灭火器 ) from inside his truck and hurried down to the
burning car. Although he sprayed until the extinguisher was empty, the car kept burning. So he
used the metal extinguisher to break the driver’s side window.

66.Dear Sara,
I’m writing to share my choice for our “Life Aesthetics” handwritten newspaper. I’d like to
choose “fun of handcrafts”. My reasons are as follows.
First, handcrafts are more accessible to us students. We can showcase our own creations —
like paper-cutting, knotting, or even handmade bookmarks — which feels more personal than
simply describing nature scenes. Second, the process of making things by hand is itself an
aesthetic experience. It allows us to appreciate beauty through creation, not just observation.
This theme may encourage more classmates to participate actively. What do you think

67.
When he reached into the car, he found the driver was still stuck in by his seat belt. Without
hesitation, he struggled with all his might to free the trapped driver, though his hands got burned
by the intense heat from the fire. After what seemed like an eternity, he managed to cut the seat
belt and pull the driver out just as the car was engulfed in flames. The driver, though in shock, was
alive, thanks to Bell’s quick actions and bravery. Then the driver was driven to the hospital, and
later he expressed his sincere gratitude to Jacob Bell for saving his life.
Soon, the media poured into Bell’s house. They wanted to know more about the man who
had once again shown incredible courage and selflessness. Bell, still uncomfortable with the hero
label, shared his story modestly. He emphasized that he was just doing what anyone would do in
such situations. His wife, proud and supportive, stood by his side, knowing that her husband’s
actions were not out of the ordinary for him, but still extraordinary in the eyes of the world. Bell’s
story continued to inspire, proving that true heroes are those who act without hesitation to help
others, regardless of the risks involved.
