Good morning, everyone! It is my great honor to deliver a speech titled“Music and Life”.
Music plays an important role in my life. It is like a friend who is always there for me. When
I feel happy, I listen to pop music and dance along. When I am sad or stressed, soft piano music
helps me relax and forget my worries. Before exams, I often listen to light music while reviewing
my lessons, which makes me feel calm and focused. What’ s more, music helps me build
connections. Last year, I joined the school music club and met many people who share the same
interest. We often discuss our favorite songs and singers, making every gathering full of joy.
Music is the universal language that speaks to our souls. Let’s embrace good music to light
up our life!
Thank you!
After getting home, I was afraid to face my parents but I had to. After looking through the
test result, I had thought that they would scold me heavily. However, I was completely wrong.
They asked me about the reason for which I failed the test. I didn’t dare to tell a lie, and told them
it was the phone they had bought for me that led to my poor scores. When figuring out the cause,
they said, “We truly believe in you. We hope you can learn from this failure, change your old ways,
and really strive to be a better student. Success will be yours.”
After what happened, I decided to change everything I used to do. Firstly, I handed in my phone to
my parents and came home early right after school every day. Once I finished my homework, I’d
help my parents with some housework. I hardly used my phone any more. Then in class, I’d listen
carefully as before. Gradually, my school performance improved and I got good grades again.

usually reach up to six fifty a month, but Mr. Brown obviously wants to rent it out quickly.
M: Yeah, it sounds like a bit of a bargain. What about transport for Phil
W: Well, there’ll be plenty of buses, so no problem for him to use public transport, but
unfortunately, there isn’t a shower in the flat, and that location is likely to be noisy, of course.
M: I don’t mind whether there is a shower as there is a bath, but I’d like a quiet place. So what

W: Hello, everybody. As you know, “Clean the Beach Day” is taking place next
Sunday. And I’m sure most of you are familiar with what needs to be done, the rules, and the
schedule, but let me review it once more.
So, first of all, clothing: since it’s still quite cold in March, you’ll definitely need to wear a pair
of good waterproof boots. Make sure you don’t come in your sports shoes as those will get wet
very easily. Waterproof trousers and a good jacket are also advisable.
Now, I’m sure you remember that you don’t need to bring protective gloves and big plastic bags,
as the school will provide you with those at the beach before we start cleaning. During the event,
there’ll be water and orange juice available if you’re thirsty, but if you think you might feel
hungry while we’re actually collecting the rubbish, then you’d better bring some snacks with you,
as there won’t be any food at that time. After we finish, however, a light lunch will be offered, and
we’ll gather together and have a pleasant picnic on the beach!

Every time AI creates an e-mail or an image, the planet pays
for it. Making two images can consume as much energy as charging a smartphone. By 2027, the
global AI industry could annually consume as much electricity as the Netherlands. And a new
study identifies another concern: generative AI applications alone could add 1.2 million to five
million tons of this harmful trash to the planet by 2030.(每次人工智能写了一封电子邮件或生成
This study’s biggest value comes from its attention to AI’

emissions respectively by 2030. They have many options to limit e-waste. It’s possible to extract
more life out of servers, for instance, through regular maintenance and updates or by putting
worn-out devices into less-demanding applications. These strategies are vital to reduce e-waste
and benefit society, the study authors say.(值得庆幸的是,一些公司声称正在采取独立行动。

故选 A项。
【答案】32.B 33.A 34.D 35.C
Vegavis iaai,
Called Vegavis iaai, it belongs to a species of waterfowl (birds
that include ducks, geese, and swans) that lived at the same time as dinosaurs like Tyrannosaurus
rex. Only the duck-like species survived when all dinosaurs that were not avian died out about 66
million years ago.
The mystery of Vegavis iaai began in 1993, when researchers
discovered the fossil of a bird on Vega Island in Antarctica. It did not have a skull, which made it
difficult to fully identify.
故选 A。
The researchers created a digital 3D model of the Vegavis iaai
skull, which showed that its brain was shaped like the brains of today’s ducks and geese. However,
it had a long, narrow beak and powerful jaw muscles that made it different from waterfowl and
more like modern birds that dive and catch fish.
Other scientists are not convinced, however, and argue that more
fossils of the species are needed to fully confirm the findings.
Torres and his colleagues
understand that there is more work to be done to support their findings and that their conclusions
are controversial.
【答案】36.A 37.F 38.C 39.G 40.E
36.根据空前的“A robot is chatting to an elderly British man in his bedroom.(一个机器人正在一
此空应描述机器人的相关特征,A选项“It has a pleasantly bright voice.
故选 A项。
The behavior is the product of the Caresses project which aims to design robots
that can take into account the cultural background of the person they’re talking to. The man is
British, so the robot thinks he will be interested in such a topic, regardless of the man’s personal
feelings.
选项“Why does a robot mention a topic that may cause pain (为什么机器人会提到一个可能带
Cultural robotics is part of a wider movement to make robotics more culturally
“Similarly, the move to make robots more culturally sensitive means well, but people are worried
about where it could lead, considering the diverse cultural preferences across different social
groups.
化机器人学存在担忧,C选项“However, concerns about this have been raised.
For example, different cultures have different expectations around personal
space, and this affects how far they prefer robots to stand from them.(例如,不同的文化对个人空
People are
more able to understand a robot if it uses the facial expressions they are familiar with.(如果机器
facial expressions differently too.
40.根据空前的“Culture is a complex concept, open to various explanations.(文化是一个复杂的
选项“Therefore, a one-size-fits-all approach is impractical.

故填 which。
the excitement of the Games表示“分享赛事的激动人心之处”。故填 excitement。
have an impact on为固定搭配,表示 “对…… 故填 on。

66.小作文
Hello, everyone. Today, I am very glad to have the opportunity to make this presentation. I
shall be speaking about “Music and life”.
As we all know, music performs an important/significant role in our daily lives. Just as the
saying goes, music is the medicine of the heart. It enables us to feel relaxed both mentally and
physically, giving us energy. Moreover, when I’m in trouble, music can lift up my spirits and
inspire me to overcome/get over difficulties. Besides, the Chinese traditional music is my
favourite, which sounds peaceful and touches my soul. Every time I feel tired or anxious, classical
music helps me calm down.
All in all, I hope all of you will somehow begin to treasure music and make it a part of your
life.
Firstly, I handed in my phone
to my parents and came home early right after school every day. Once I finished my homework, I’
d help my parents with some housework. I hardly used my phone any more. Then in class, I’d
listen carefully as before. Gradually, my school performance improved and I got good grades
again.
