Datiehua, with a history of more than 500 years, is a traditional Chinese art form in Hebei Province. The most famous datiehua performance is now held in Nuanquan Town, Zhangjiakou City.
Many blacksmiths in ancient Nuanquan didn’t have enough money to buy fireworks, while the rich around them easily celebrated the Chinese Spring Festival or Lantern Festival by shooting off fireworks. However, these blacksmiths got an idea from the sparks (火花) of the iron. They poured out the molten (熔化的) iron on the wall, and when it flew back, it looked like wonderful fireworks. The exciting “fireworks” created by the blacksmiths attracted many locals who couldn’t afford real fireworks. Over time, a tradition grew: during the Spring Festival or Lantern Festival, the rich celebrated the festivals with fireworks, while the common people celebrated with datiehua.
In the beginning, datiehua took place on a castle wall in Nuanquan. However, as more and more people came to watch, they built a big square to hold it.
If you think it is an easy performance, then you might change your mind after knowing how it is prepared. The collected waste iron usually weighs more than 500 kilograms, and must be heated in a big oven for over half an hour with the strong fire. The show needs the performer to have strong arms, good skills, and a lot of courage. For a beginner, he or she can get hurt easily.

A. To teach readers how to make real fireworks at home.

C. To introduce a traditional Chinese art form called Datiehua.

You may know about junk food like hamburgers. But do you know about junk sleep
Junk sleep is when you don’t get enough sleep or the sleep you get is not of good quality. A study in the UK was about how electronic devices (电子设备) in teenagers’ bedrooms affect their sleep. The survey (调查) was done among 1,000 British kids aged 12 to 16. It found that 30 percent of them got just 4 to 7 hours sleep every day, and they needed about 8 hours to feel good and do well in school.
Almost a quarter of the kids said they fell asleep many times while listening to music or using other electronic devices. “This is very worrying,” said Dr. Chris Idzikowski, a British expert. “We call it ‘junk sleep’. It means you don’t get enough sleep, and the quality of the sleep is bad, too. If you don’t get good rest, you don’t do well in the school the next day.”
▲ The survey found that 40 percent of kids felt tired every day, with girls aged 15 to 16 feeling the worst. Nearly all teenagers have a phone, music tool, or TV in their bedroom. Using electronic devices too often is harmful to teenagers.
Phones, iPads, and TVs can keep you awake and make your sleep less good. To have better sleep, try to keep your bedroom a quiet and dark place, without electronic devices.
Remember, good sleep helps you learn and play better. It’s important to get enough sleep every night, so you can be the best yourself in school and at home.
27.What does the underlined word “This” in Paragraph 3 refer to
A. The result that 40 percent of kids felt tired every day.

C. Kids fall asleep many times while using electronic devices.
D. Teenagers need at least 8 hours of sleep every day.

A. Junk sleep brings many problems to teenagers.
B. Electronic devices are very popular in families.
C. All the students have bad sleeping habits now.
D. Parents are worried about children’s study.
29.Why is it suggested to keep electronic devices out of the bedroom
A. Because they make the room too bright to sleep.
B. Because they can reduce the quality of sleep.
C. Because they are too expensive to leave in bedrooms.
D. Because they are useless while people are sleeping.
30.What is the best title for the passage
A. Keep off Electronic Devices B. Junk Food and Our Health
C. Stay Away from Junk Sleep D. A Study of British Kids

35.【答案】How to Make Our Spare Time More Meaningful
Recently, we discussed how to make our spare time more meaningful. My classmates gave some good advice. For example, we can help parents do housework to show love, read books to know more about the world, or take up a new hobby like painting.
In my opinion, we should also do sports to keep fit and work as volunteers to help others. By doing these things, we can not only improve ourselves but also make a difference. I believe our spare time will become more colorful and meaningful.
