One day, Amy was on a business trip to a small town in the countryside. When she passed a quiet village, she saw farmers working hard in a big field, their hands moving quickly to catch the favourable planting season. At that time, a young man sitting lazily by the road with seeds (种子) in his hands drew her attention. Amy wondered why the young man was free in such a busy season. She went up and asked, “Have you planted your vegetables yet The weather is perfect now.”
The young man shook his head and sighed (叹气) heavily, “Not yet! I’m too worried about the unpredictable weather. What if a sudden storm hits (袭击) after planting My vegetables will surely be harmed. If the nights turn too cold, the seeds may never come out of the ground. And if it is too hot, the seeds will dry up and die.”
Amy nodded and asked again, “Then, have you planted rice ” The young man thought for a minute and answered, “Not yet. I’m worried about the birds. They may eat the rice. I can’t take that risk.” Amy felt very surprised and said, “So, what have you planted ” The young man replied, “I haven’t planted anything. I’m waiting for the best time! I must make sure nothing destroys (毁坏) my plants.”
Of course, the best time never came. In the end, the young man got nothing from the field. Looking at the empty field, the young man finally realised his mistake. Many people often feel dizzy (头晕目眩的), or even sick when they use their phones for a long time in a moving car, bus or train. Why does this unpleasant motion (运动) sickness happen to so many people Do the so-called “anti-motion sickness (防晕车)” functions (功能) on smartphones really work And what simple and easy ways can we use to stop this uncomfortable feeling in our daily life
Motion sickness happens mainly because our senses give conflicting (冲突的) messages. People with a more sensitive vestibular (前庭的) system get sick more easily. This system is deep inside both ears and very important for noticing our body’s movement, such as going up or down hills, speeding up quickly or slowing down little by little during a trip. The main parts of the vestibular system work well together to help us keep our balance in daily life and different activities. When we are sitting in a moving car, the vestibular system keeps sending clear messages to the brain that we are moving. But our eyes only see still things, like the inside of the car, the phone screen or the seat in front of us. The conflicting messages easily confuse (使迷惑) the brain, and then we feel uncomfortable, such as dizziness and sickness.
Interestingly, drivers almost never get motion sickness when they drive. That’s because they always look carefully at the road in front of them and try to get their bodies used to the car’s changes. What they see and what they feel match well, so the brain will not be confused. In short, if the brain can predict the car’s speed and direction changes, it is much harder to get motion sickness.
As for the “anti-motion sickness” functions on most smartphones, they can only reduce eye tiredness a little and cannot actually keep people from feeling motion sickness.
To stop motion sickness, we’d better not use phones for a long time in a moving car, bus or train. We can also try to look at the road ahead, just like drivers do. This helps our brain put different kinds of information together quickly.
27.According to the passage, why do people get motion sickness
A. Because the conflicting messages from our eyes and senses confuse the brain.
B. Because their eyes see moving things outside the window for a long time.
C. Because the car keeps speeding up little by little during a trip.
D. Because they have serious eye tiredness in a moving car.
28.What can we learn from the passage
A. We feel comfortable with a more sensitive vestibular system.
B. People easily get motion sickness if looking at the road ahead.
C. Drivers seldom feel sick because they can predict the car’s changes.
D. The “anti-motion sickness” functions can help stop motion sickness.
29.What is the passage mainly about
A. Why people get motion sickness and how to stop it.
B. Different ways to help drivers drive safely.
C. How to use smartphones in a moving car.
D. The importance of keeping our balance.

Decisions take time, whether they’re big or small. Choosing a new apartment or deciding whether to change jobs are big decisions with many sides to consider. But we also make many small decisions every day—what to eat for dinner, which clothes to wear, or which hotel to book for a holiday.
Interestingly, small decisions might actually take up more of your time than big ones. Why It’s because of a basic psychological (心理上的) rule: when you choose between two things, your brain needs more time if they are more alike.
Let’s take a common example. Imagine you are choosing between two hotels for a beach holiday. The first hotel costs $200 less per night than the second, but they are very similar in quality. You will probably book the cheaper one very quickly. Now, think about this: the first hotel costs just $10 less per night, but it is 100 meters further from the beach. This time, you might find yourself going back and forth between the two choices for a long time before finally deciding.
This shows that when the differences between options (选择) are small, your brain struggles more to make a decision. Here’s how the human brain works: if you’re choosing between two things that are almost equally valuable to you, the result doesn’t matter much. The difference between them is small. And yet, research shows that people actually spend more time on decisions that matter less. So what can we learn from this For small decisions, if you find yourself having a hard time deciding, it is likely because it doesn’t really matter. Instead of wasting time overthinking, just pick one and move on.
Of course, this rule doesn’t apply to truly important decisions like choosing a school or a career. But if you’re deciding whether to colour your notebook white or yellow, and you find yourself getting a headache over it, you are probably wasting your time.
The key is to find out where the difficulty comes from. If you already know all the details about two computers and still can’t decide, it means the difference between them isn’t meaningful to you. Just toss (抛) a coin, buy one, and spend your time on something more important.
30.Why does the writer use the example in Paragraph 3
A. To explain that smaller differences between choices make decisions harder.
B. To stress that people often book the cheaper hotel without thinking twice.
C. To describe that distance is a common consideration for travelers.
D. To show that cheaper hotels are more popular with people.
31.What does the phrase “going back and forth” in Paragraph 3 most probably mean
A. Traveling easily. B. Forgetting totally.
C. Waiting aimlessly. D. Comparing repeatedly.
32.According to the passage, what advice does the writer give about small decisions
A. Think carefully until you find the best one.
B. Choose one quickly without thinking too much.
C. Ask researchers for help before making a choice.
D. Spend much time comparing different choices carefully.
33.What is the writer’s main purpose in writing this passage
A. To tell people that big decisions are more important.
B. To introduce useful ways to make important big decisions.
C. To show how researchers found the rule of decision-making.
D. To explain why small decisions take more time and offer advice.

34.People have different preferences when it comes to traveling. Some enjoy surprises during their trips, while others highly value safety and convenience above all else. Today, travel blind boxes and group tours are two popular ways of traveling among young people. A travel blind box is a low-cost product. Usually, travelers pay about 100 to 200 yuan. They first pick their departure (离开) airport, then they will get several destinations (目的地) to choose from. After that, they can decide on the final trip, which offers a sense of excitement and surprise.
Travel blind boxes have become hot recently. They are cheap and exciting. Many people enjoy them because they save money and bring unexpected fun. Wang visited Changsha through a blind box and found it a city with both modern buildings and old houses. Such trips also help improve the local economy (经济). Take Dehong in Yunnan as an example. It gained more attention after becoming a blind box destination, attracting more tourists and improving local business.
But travel blind boxes may cause trouble, including inconvenient travel times and sudden flight changes. So experts advise people to choose safe platforms and sign contracts (合同) to protect their own rights and interests.
Group tours are traditional and popular. They are easy and worry-free. Ms. Li loves them because tour guides take care of booking hotels and dealing with traffic matters. Tourists can also make new friends and save money when traveling together. However, group tours are less flexible (灵活的). Zhang says travelers must follow fixed timetables and can’t stay longer in places they like. Too many shopping stops also cut into visiting time.
In fact, there is no single way of traveling that is perfect. Each way has its own special beauty and is suitable for different people in different situations. If you are the kind of person who welcomes surprises and new discoveries, then travel blind boxes can bring you a great deal of fun. If you prefer to have a clear plan and an easy-going trip, group tours may be a better choice for you. The best way to travel is simply the one that makes you feel relaxed and happy.
