Qian Xuesen is a great Chinese scientist. He was born(出生)in 1911 in Hangzhou. When he was a little boy, he loved reading science books and asking “why” about everything. He studied hard at school and got good grades. And then, he went to the USA to learn more about science and technology(技术). He was a top student there and had a good job with high pay(薪水). But he loved his motherland (祖国) more than anything else. He wanted to come back to China to help build a stronger country.
It was not easy for him to come back. Some people tried to stop him. He waited and tried many times. After 5 years of hard work, he finally came back to China in 1955. He worked day and night. He led(带领)his team to study space and missile (导弹) technology. He helped China make atomic bombs (原子弹), missiles and satellites(卫星)successfully(成功的). People call him “the Father of China’s Aerospace” and “ the Father of China’s Missiles”.
