Dear Tom,
I’m glad you are interested in Chinese natural wonders. My favorite natural wonder is Huangshan Mountain. It lies in the southern part of Anhui Province, famous for its natural beauty, unusual peaks, strange pines and amazing sea of clouds. The depth of its valleys and the height of its peaks make it a paradise for climbers and explorers.
When you visit it, please be a responsible traveller. Take away all your rubbish, don’t pick flowers or walk on the grass, and keep quiet to avoid disturbing the wildlife. We should be determined to protect these wonders, as they are our national treasure. With the rapid development of tourism, we must take strict measures to balance development and protection.
I hope you can visit it one day. Let’s work together to protect natural wonders.
Yours,
Li Hua

Should children do housework Different people have different ideas. A few parents will say that their children are too busy to do housework. Many more of them ask their children to do housework, but housework just doesn’t get done. So most parents would rather do housework themselves.
However, housework is good for kids. Doing housework helps children develop a sense of responsibility (责任) which is good for other areas (领域) of their lives.
Although housework is important, few kids like doing it at all. In a survey of 1,000 American adults, 75 percent believed normal housework made kids “more responsible”. However, although 82 percent of the parents said they had done housework when they were young, only 56 percent of them asked their children to do housework.
Sports and homework are not get-out-of-housework-free cards. After all, the goal is to raise adults who can balance (平衡) their love and responsibility in family and work. Housework helps teach that balance.
What should you do when getting children to do housework Accept no excuses. Don’t worry if you need to repeat yourself. If you’re spending more time getting the child to do this job than it would take to do it yourself, then you’re doing it right. Can a reward help Maybe. But if you’re trying to teach kids to share their responsibility of a home, paying them for housework is not a wise choice.

Wetlands are special lands that are wet for most of the year. They are not as deep as lakes, but they are not dry fields either. Birds build nests among tall grass; fish hide in shallow water.
Wetlands work like giant sponges. When there is heavy rain, they hold the water and stop floods. During dry months, they slowly give the water back to rivers.
People once thought wetlands were useless, so they turned many into farms or buildings. Now we know wetlands can clean dirty water. Plants and mud take out poison so that rivers become safe again.
Wetlands give us food such as fish, rice and crabs. Walking in wetlands also helps people relax. We must protect wetlands for animals, for ourselves and for the future.
