剧本(play)是一种为表演设计的特殊文体,是供戏剧演出创造用的文字依据。剧本通常由舞台指示(stage directions)和台词(lines)等组成。
(1)舞台指示:剧本中的叙述性文字说明,通常使用括号标注,描述人物的形象特征,心理活动,以及场景,气氛等。

[Mum is sitting in the living room, worried, The clock reads10:27 pm. The son runs through the door, out of breath.
Son:(breathing quickly) I’m back...
Mum: Look at the time! Do you remember your promise
Son:(in a low voice) Yes,I promised to be back before 9 tonight. But...
Mum: (interrupting) A deal is a deal! The promise wasn’t kept,so you can’t stay out late next time.
Son:Mum, please listen... I was heading back at 8:30.
Mum: Then why are you late
Son:On my way back, realised that my phone was at Jiacheng’s house. I had to go back to get it
Mum: Why did it take that long to get your phone
Son:Halfway back, I noticed an old woman under a street lamp. She was wearing a thin blouse and it was cold. She looked pale. I asked her if she needed help. She said she was lost.
Mum: So you sent her home
Son:No! She couldn’t tell me her address.
Mum: Then what did you do
Son:I checked and saw that a yellow band was attached to her wrist. It had her information on it.But I couldn’t call her family without my phone. So I gave her my jacket and took her to the nearest
police station.I waited with her until she was taken home by a policewoman. After that I ran to pick up my phone and came home.
Mum: Oh, what a night! I’m sorry for being cross with you. But why didn’t you phone me from the policestation I was so worried!
Son:Oh, I didn’t think of that... Sorry, Mum...
Mum: Now I understand. I’m very proud of you.

What advice can you give the son and his mother
I think the son is kind, responsible and honest. He showed kindness and responsibility by helping the old woman. He gave her his jacket and took her to the nearest police station, even though it made him go home late. He is also honest because he explained everything to his mum.
My advice to the son is to think about his mother’s feelings more. He shouldn’t make his mother worried. My advice to the mother is to trust her son more. She should realise he is very responsible.

Earlier, I promised my parents to do homework first after school. But after a busy day, I felt tired and just wanted to rest. However, my parents thought I should keep my promise.
I said sorry and explained my feelings.
My parents understood and comforted me. After we talked, a fair solution was reached: I could relax for 30 minutes before homework.
