表语从句的引导词有连词that、whether等和连接代词which、who、
whom、whose等以及连接副词when、why、where、how等。
存在。
在复合句中作表语的从句叫表语从句，说明主语是什么或者怎么样。含表语从句的复合句的一般结构是“主语＋系动词＋表语从句”。可接表语从句的系动词有be、look、seem、sound、appear等。
表语从句的引导词有连接代词who、which、what、whatever等；连接副词how、why、when等；从属连词that、as、whether等；以及as if、as though、because等连词。
一、由连接代词引导的表语从句
[感知]
1．The turning of the earth on its own axis is what makes the change from day to night.
地球的自转是昼夜交替现象产生的原因。

3．The question is which of the units we choose to be the fundamental one.

二、由连接副词引导的表语从句

这就是我们的根本利益所在。
2．That's why we decided to put the meeting off.(原因状语)
那就是我们决定推迟会议的原因。
3．The question is how the people can find an effective way to store the sun's heat.(方式状语)
问题是人们如何才能找到一种有效的方法来储存太阳的热量。

连接副词when、where、why、how等除引导表语从句外，还在从句中充当状语，可表示时间、地点、原因、方式等。
三、由连词引导的表语从句
[感知]
1．Your greatest fault is that you are careless.

3．The meat tastes as if/though it has already gone bad.(陈述语气)

四、表语从句与虚拟语气

当主语中含有suggestion、advice、order、demand、requirement、request 等时，表语从句用虚拟语气，谓语动词用“(should＋)动词原形”结构。
