Volunteering is becoming more and more popular among middle school students. It is a great way to spend our free time and help others at the same time. Last Sunday, my classmates and I took part in a volunteer activity in the community.
We got there at 8:30 in the morning. First, we cleaned the streets and picked up the rubbish. Some students watered the flowers and trees. Then we visited the old people who lived alone. We talked with them, washed their clothes and cleaned their rooms. An old grandma told us many interesting stories about her life. We also sang songs and danced for them. They smiled happily and praised us again and again.
I think volunteering is very meaningful. On the one hand, we can help people in need and make our community more beautiful. On the other hand, we can learn a lot from it. We learn to care about others, to be responsible and to understand the meaning of giving. We also get some useful experience that we can’t learn from textbooks.
If you want to be a volunteer, you can join the volunteer club in your school. You can help homeless animals, teach English to poor children, or help clean up the park. No matter what you do, your kindness will make a big difference to others.

“It's not that I gave these kids love. I am actually learning about love.” Jiang added. To enjoy and share love is seen as the most important thing in her life.
