Holidays are very popular among young students. They expect to relax and do something they like. However, what do holidays really mean to them Many students face assignments from teachers and pressure from parents to read books, complete extra exercises, or attend extra lessons.
A survey done by a junior high school shows that holidays often become busier for students rather than a time for relaxation. This problem comes from both the large number of tasks and poor time management. Instead of enjoying their break, many students find themselves staying up late to complete homework. They describe it as a painful experience.
The survey findings explain this situation. Chart I reveals that many junior high students have late bedtimes during the holidays. They don’t realize that enough sleep matters for their health and grades. Chart II shows that over 80% of students get involved in reading during their breaks, and 60% participate in extra lessons. These all point out that learning activities occupy their holiday time. In contrast, activities like housework and sports receive less attention.
To make things better, teachers should give homework which students need to do and are interested in. On one hand, teachers need to make sure students practise the key skills and knowledge when they are out of school. While on the other hand, it’s important to make sure that students have enough time for something they like or want to explore.
Parents also play an important role in helping their children plan their holidays well. By giving good advice and encouraging them to join different activities, parents can help students find a balance between having fun and growing personally. Finding this balance is necessary for a happy and satisfying holiday experience.

A.start B.are in control of C.are in need of D.check

28.What is the writing purpose of this passage
A.To call on parents and teachers to help students with a better holiday.

①As we all know, “To get rich, build roads first.” A project under the China-led Belt and Road is now bringing hopes across Burera in northern Rwanda (卢旺达). For years, the beautiful scenery of this small area was hidden behind the long bumpy (颠簸的) roads. Today, built together by the China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) and local companies in Rwanda, the smooth 63-km Base-Butaro-Kidaho (BBK) road has changed this situation.
②“In the past, reaching nearby towns was a struggle because of the bad road,” said Seth Havugimana, a 30-year-old businessman from a village in Burera. “Once it took four hours to get to the city, but now it takes only about an hour,” he said. “People can go from here to another place easily and do business. We are very happy about this new road.”
③The road has also made it easier to reach public services. “If someone in my family is sick, it is convenient to take them to the hospital,” Havugimana said. “Also, students can go to school easily. Before, it was hard.”
④The BBK road has changed more than just people’s daily life. It has also helped the economy (经济) of the whole area grow. “Where there is traffic, there are business activities,” said Thierry Kamuhanda, BBK project director. “Gas stations, coffee shops, and other shops and services follow, so there are more local jobs. Tourism will also increase, mainly because the road runs along Lake Burera.”
⑤Jing Niu, the project manager of the BBK project at CRBC, explained that it was not easy to build the first 22-km part. The difficulties included rocky hills, protecting the environment near Lake Burera, managing traffic, and keeping children safe. To solve these problems, the company worked closely with local leaders and communities to give safety lessons and keep the road open.
⑥Bruce Semana, a local worker who joined the project in 2022, spoke about the valuable skills shared by CRBC. “I joined as a young graduate with ideas but no practical skills,” he said. “Everything the workers know now—how to manage teams, work with different people, and work in poor conditions—is learned through the CRBC.”
⑦The last part of the BBK road is now mostly open to traffic, though final works are still in progress. The whole BBK project will be finished by the end of the year. It will continue changing the future of northern Rwanda.
29.How does the author start the passage
A.By asking a question. B.By using a saying.
C.By putting an advertisement. D.By telling a joke.
30.According to Thierry Kamuhanda, how does BBK project help the development of Burera
A.More Chinese tourists go travelling in Burera.
B.The project includes many shops and services.
C.New shops are built in order to improve tourism.
D.The road allows new businesses to enter the area.
31.What is the structure of the passage
A.①/②③/④⑤/⑥⑦ B.①/②③④/⑤⑥/⑦
C.①②/③④⑤/⑥/⑦ D.①②/③④/⑤⑥/⑦

B.The poor environment is the only challenge.
C.CRBC helps exchange the technology to the area.
D.Villagers could not see a doctor before the new road.

Talk to yourself like a best friend
Try to turn “Why am I so silly ” into “I tried my best, and I’ll do better next time.” Write down some positive sentences for yourself before bed, like“I ate on time today!” or “I stayed calm and avoided arguments.” 38 Slowly, you’ll start to see yourself in a kinder light.
Build a “mental charging station (心灵充电站)”

Protect your mental energy
Loving yourself isn’t just about doing more things. 40 Draw clear lines with stressful relationships, tiring work patterns or situations that make you doubt yourself.
Avoid chasing (追逐) perfection

30.定位到第④段Thierry Kamuhanda的表述“Where there is traffic, there are business activities... Gas stations, coffee shops, and other shops and services follow, so there are more local jobs.”

Wen Jiayi, 14, Chengdu, ChinaLiving with my grandparents helps me have a better understanding of the meaning of “family”. The time that I spend with my grandparents is usually longer than the time I spend with my parents. My grandparents and I always have fun together. We get on so well that we always show respect for each other. We go on walks, chat while having lunch, and watch TV together. My grandfather often cooks delicious meals for us in our family and I often help him to buy the food for our dishes. I really enjoy being with my grandparents.Kim Min-seo, 13, Seoul, Korea Most of the time, I am happy with the idea of living with my grandparents. I think they are cute and nice. But sometimes I also feel frustrated. They may look at some new things with an old-fashioned view and try to make me believe that some new things are unacceptable. Sometimes it seems really difficult for them to understand what exactly I like. I guess this is called the “generation gap (代沟)”. However, I don’t mind having disagreements with them because it is part of life, isn’t it Maya Sharma, 16, Ohio, US I don’t live with my grandparents, but I live very close to them — they’re just two blocks away. 阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。每个选项仅使用一次。
The hashtag (话题标签) “laoji, see you tomorrow” has been sweeping across Chinese social media lately. It basically means “love yourself”—a warm and funny way of talking to yourself. 37
Say no to fake (假的) rest. Real rest isn’t staying up late glued to your phone—it’s doing things that refill your energy. Create your own “charging list”: maybe take a warm bath, go for a walk or listen to music. 39
Protect your mental energy
Loving yourself isn’t just about doing more things. 40 Draw clear lines with stressful relationships, tiring work patterns or situations that make you doubt yourself.
Avoid chasing (追逐) perfection
Waiting to be perfect often means never starting. 41 But doing something imperfect is better than doing nothing at all. The first step matters most.
Focus on our true needs instead of blindly following the pace of the world around us. Love laoji more in the coming year.
A.It’s also about having the courage to say no.
B.These small acts can bring big joy to your daily life.
