Holding my hands, my grandparents boarded a green-skinned train in Hangzhou, which
rocked and swayed for twenty-five hours straight to Ulanqab (乌兰察布市), Inner Mongolia. This is my childhood memory of returning home.
As the train journeyed north, the scenery outside the window gradually transformed from the gentle charm of the south to the vast openness of the north. Everything felt so beautiful, even the clamor (喧闹) inside the carriage carried a warmth. Before dawn the next day, I pressed my forehead against the fogged glass, watching the distant sunrise break through the horizon. It
seemed as though the morning sun had risen solely to welcome our return.
After starting elementary school, trips back to my hometown grew sparse, and that direct
train quietly closed down. The rails rusted into dotted lines in memory, and my hometown became a faint shadow on a photographic negative
Then, last year, Grandpa passed away, and the frequency of returning home suddenly
surged. Yet, the journey no longer held the leisurely comfort of childhood it became a long,
exhausting journey. We rushed to the airport before daybreak, weighed down by luggage
check-ins. The cramped cabin and turbulent air currents added discomfort, while navigating the maze-like airport and enduring hours of road travel left us arriving under completely dark skies. There was no time to admire the scenery, let alone the endless sea of clouds outside the airplane window.
This year, upon hearing that the long-suspended train had resumed operation, an
indescribable excitement welled up in my heart. A month ago, I finally boarded this long-missed train again. As night fell, the train slowly set off. The familiar voices in the carriage, mingling
with the rhythmic clatter of wheels against tracks, blended into a nostalgic lullaby
Lying on the bunk, I felt the gentle sway of the train, as though cradled in the arms of Mother Earth...Years have blurred the details of my memory, and I have sketched it one by one with my imagination.
Finally, the train arrived at my hometown. The moment I met my grandma, the long-accumulated yearning in my heart burst out like a tidal stream now...

25 .What does the underlined word “sparse” in paragraph 3 most probably mean
A .Rare. B .Frequent. C .Regular. D .Complex.
26 .What is the author’s attitude towards modern travel by air

27 .What can be a suitable title for the text
A .Memories of My Hometown B .Old tracks Back Home
C .The Change of Transportation D .The Beauty of Air Travel

Human beings have always loved reviews: word of mouth has long been regarded as one of the most valuable marketing tools available to a company. Consumers enjoy reading and giving
reviews. However, the problem is that a lot of the reviews are fake (假的). Shabnam Azimi and Alexander Krasnikov of Loyola University of Chicago and Kwong Chan of Northeastern
University recently published a study on fake reviews.
The study used a data set of 1,600 reviews of Chicago hotels. Some of them were real;
others were fake. The reviews were presented to 400 subjects. Each subject got eight reviews to read: a balanced set of two positive fake, two positive real, two negative fake and two negative real, presented in a random order. The reviews were written by real people who were given
information about the hotel.
The results show that consumers generally trust negative reviews more than positive ones.
Moreover, we humans tend to assume that positive reviews might be fake. “Overall, negative
reviews are less common. So, we pay more attention to them. When a negative review is fake, we get tricked,” Azimi says.
When it came to faking a review, length was important to believability, as was detail. A
long, negative review of a hotel, complete with lots of information, tended to convince
participants. A lengthy, positive review, on the other hand, was regarded as suspicious, and
participants tended to trust writers that kept their glowing reviews short. Emotion was also
important in convincing readers — or the lack of emotion, at least. Azimi says study participants tended not to trust reviews where the writers expressed their feelings in a big way. The more
dispassionate that negative write-up, the more likely it was to take the reader in.
The fake reviews written for Azimi’s study were put together by humans, but increasingly, fake reviews are being written by AI, which makes them look more real. Though many companies use algorithms (算法) to weed out fake reviews, Azimi points out that the machines are
programmed by humans, and given our limited ability to spot fake reviews, this isn’t a good sign.
28 .Which aspect of the study does paragraph 2 mainly talk about
A .Its design. B .Its findings. C .Its purposes. D .Its significance.
29 .What does the underlined word “glowing” in paragraph 4 mean
A .Funny. B .Abusive. C .Insightful. D .Praising.
30 .What kind of review would readers most likely trust
A .A long, positive one. B .An unemotional, negative one.
C .A short, negative one. D .An enthusiastic, positive one.
31 .What can be inferred from the last paragraph
A.Many companies are producing fake reviews.B.Writing fake reviews will be declared illegal.
C .Machines can detect fake reviews accurately.D .It will be harder to recognize fake reviews.

When planning my wedding, I was determined not to get caught up in the “perfect day”, but to have a relaxed, informal celebration. My husband and I ended up having a lovely time.
“Pursuit of perfection is a prison,” says Moya Sarner, an NHS psychotherapist. Many of us are driven by the unconscious wish that if we could just have the perfect body, the perfect job and
the perfect family, then we would be happy. For that reason, it can be one of the most significant barriers to happiness in life.
The psychoanalyst Donald Winnicott wrote about the importance of the “good enough
mother” who meets her baby’s needs timely, but is not perfect. He said perfect is harmful. To meet every desire immediately, to pass the toy straight away whenever it is demanded slows down a
baby’s growth, robbing them of the opportunity to feel frustrated and learn to crawl to get the toy for themselves.
Winnicott believed that while perfection is not a virtue, tolerance of imperfection is. If we cannot develop the capacity to tolerate imperfection in ourselves and in those around us, we can have no self-confidence, no sustainable relationships and no fulfilling career. If we’re always
trying to build something called a perfect life, we aren’t really living the one we’re in.
How do I know all this I am a perfectionist in recovery. I’ve started to recognize my
intolerance of imperfection — my need for certain things to be exactly as I would like them to be, from the way my husband chops his onions to my terror of being late — and it has made a huge
difference to my relationship and my parenting. How can you be a good partner if you expect everyone else to fit your own narrow expectations How can your child grow if they sense that they always need to color precisely inside the lines you’ve drawn out for them
We need to go further than tolerating imperfections. We need to learn to appreciate their humanity and beauty. Imperfections are why people will pay a calligrapher to handwrite
invitations when a computer can produce a flawless (完美的) version of the same script for less money and in less time. So for a more delicious life, and ultimately a better one, I choose
imperfectionism.
32 .Which of the following does the author agree with
A .Pursuit of perfection restricts people’s development.
B .Pursuit of perfection blocks people’s access to happiness.
C .We should keep building a perfect life to gain true happiness.
D .Tolerating imperfections cannot bring us any improvement in life.
33 .What can we learn from the example of the “good enough mother”
A .Raising a child brings a mother much joy.
B .Pursuing perfection is the duty of mothers.
C .Meeting babies’ demands is very challenging.
D .Responding instantly impacts babies’ growth.
34 .What is the function of the two questions at the end of Paragraph 5
A .To shift topics. B .To make assumptions.
C .To encourage thinking. D .To arouse interest.
35 .Which of the following might the author approve of
A .A miss is as good as a mile. B .Haste makes waste.
C .Close enough is good enough. D .Practice makes perfect.

Learning frustration refers to the emotional response students have when they are faced with tough academic tasks, often leading to stress, avoidance, or negative self-talk. 36 . Let’s
explore how to help students push past learning barriers and come out stronger. Normalize the struggle
The first step in overcoming frustration is acknowledging that struggle is normal — and valuable. 37 . In fact, encountering obstacles is often when the deepest learning happens.Break
down the challenge
Overwhelming assignments can feel like unconquerable mountains. 38 . For

When students hit a barrier, they may often get stuck on the idea of having to get it “right.” But learning is about experimenting, making mistakes, and adjusting. Encourage students to try
different approaches and celebrate effort, even when the answer isn’t perfect.Build confidence through small wins
Confidence is the key to pushing past obstacles. By setting achievable goals, students can experience frequent “wins” that remind them of their capabilities. 40 .
Frustration doesn’t have to disrupt a student’s academic progress. When channeled
correctly, it becomes an opportunity for growth, resilience, and deeper understanding, which help
students not only succeed in school but also build skills that prepare them for life.

B .Over time, it builds a sense of confidence
C .Encourage problem-solving, not perfection

assessments.
Slowly, I small competencies. I solved one problem, then another, then petence brought . And then — and only then — something happened: I
started wanting to solve technical problems. I’d see a challenge and think about how to it. I’d explore how systems worked. And now I’d even describe myself as a engineer — something I never would have said during my studies.
My story isn’t unique. It’s just evidence of a simple truth: You don’t need to start with . Start with pragmatism, build small and competencies; enjoyment will follow. Then, you’re not waiting for talent — you’ve actively built it.

The Mangrove Guardians
Along the coast of southern China, a quiet revolution has taken root. Local fishermen, once dependent on offshore fishing, have become 56 (protect) of the mangrove forests — ecosystems so vital that scientists call them the “coastal guardians.”
Mangroves, with their complex root systems, serve as natural barriers against storms and
rising sea levels. They also provide rich breeding grounds 57 fish and shellfish. Yet
for decades, these forests had been destroyed at 58 alarming rate to make way for fish farms and urban development.
In 2018, a conservation program 59 (launch) with an innovative approach: former fishermen would be trained as eco-tour guides and restoration workers. The idea was simple — if local communities could benefit _____60_____(economic) from protecting
mangroves, they would become their most devoted guardians.
Seven years on, the results are striking. With over 2,000 hectares of mangroves
61 (restore) across the region, fish populations have recovered. 62 was
once a source of conflict has become a model of cooperation. Villagers now earn stable incomes through eco-tourism, 63 (show) visitors the forests that they once
64 (seek) to clear.
“This is not just about trees,” says project leader Ms. Chen. “It’s about redefining our relationship with nature. We commit ourselves to protecting the mangroves, 65 they protect us in return.”

On warm September night, on the Outer Banks of North Carolina, soft sea winds filled the air. The moon was full. Mira could feel the energy in the air. She loved everything about the
ocean, and this evening she had come down to the beach to enjoy the salty night air and hear the waves washing over the sand gently.
Mira closed her eyes and listened to the waves. The gentle rolling sound was calming.
Suddenly, Mira could hear another sound, too. She listened carefully. The sound was so soft that
she could barely hear it. She opened her eyes and looked down at the sand. It was moving! All of a
sudden, she could see a tiny head coming out. Then, she saw four tiny feet and a shell. A turtle had emerged!
Mira looked in amazement at the baby turtle. In the moonlight she could just make out the green and brown pattern on its shell. It was so small! She watched with wonder as other baby
turtles began to emerge. One by one they struggled out of their underground nests. Soon the beach was like a moving carpet of tiny turtles.
Mira knew the turtles should head towards the waves and swim away, so she was puzzled when they began to pull themselves in the opposite direction. Why would the turtles be going
away from the ocean
Suddenly, she remembered something she had heard from some people living here.
“Loggerhead sea turtles come back here every year in April. They bury their eggs on the beach and in the first week of September those baby turtles hatch and head back down to the sea. But some of them never make it. Sometimes they die going across the beach, trying to find those
bright lights in the houses. The lights confuse the sea turtles.”

M: Yeah. Everyone’s pretty convinced we’ll be bringing home the winners’ cup, so there’ll be loads more fans at the game than we’re used to.
W: So will there be any challenges
M: Well, the team we’re playing against is a bit of an unknown quantity. We don’t really know what they’re capable of. I mean, if they happen to be on top form, as they were earlier in the

W: 85% last night, but it ranges from 70% to 90%. Honestly, knowing this might be making my sleep problem worse.

W: Dr. Evans, I’m not sure ifI should insist on my kids doing chores. Does it really matter
M: Absolutely. A study published in Child Development found that children who regularly take on household responsibilities are more likely to be ambitious and independent adults.
W: That makes sense, but how do I get them to do chores without constant arguing
M: The key is to match tasks to the child’s age. For younger kids, start with small jobs — like having a 2-or 3-year-old put away toys. Around 10 or 11, they can handle changing bed sheets.
W: And how do I keep them motivated
M: Start by making chores fun, turning them into a game. Also, praise their effort — a star chart can work well. But most importantly, and this is often overlooked, be the example you want your children to follow.

W: At the age of 17, Eli Zied, the senior high school student from New York City, is also the CEO of the up-and-coming fashion brand Habits 365. Eli, how do you balance your academic life with your business goals
M: As a student, getting good grades is still my main priority.
W: What were some of the first things you did to start your business in the very beginning
M: I started out creating designs and making logos, and then my older brother Spencer came to help me with the business. We got the ball rolling by selling to our classmates, relatives, and the
like.
W: What was the biggest challenge along the way
M: I’d say the biggest issue was the risk of buying large quantities of materials to be more
cost-efficient. We had to be confident that people would like and buy our products, so we ran online surveys among our early followers to get a better sense of what they wanted.
W: You’ve gained lots of publicity through celebrities and influencers, ranging from NBA athletes to singers. How did you go about creating such a wide base
M: I basically contacted many athletes, musicians, and others with strong online influence. Having influencers wear our products has been one of the biggest drivers of growth. Now, we have over
80,000 followers!

W: Ladies and gentlemen, thank you for joining our online session. Today, we will be
discussing time management strategies. Our speaker, Dr. Susan Martin, is a renowned expert in time management. She has written several bestselling books on the topic, including The Focused Mind, which shows readers how to master their attention, and Time for What Matters, a practical guide to priority-based living. Both works have been translated into multiple languages and are reaching a global readership.
The presentation will last for about 45 minutes, followed by a 15-minute Q&A session.
During the talk, Dr. Martin will cover key strategies, including setting clear goals, prioritizing
tasks, and using time blocking techniques. These methods are designed to increase efficiency and create space for meaningful activities, and, above all, to reduce stress — a benefit that many find both fresh and valuable.

dotted lines in memory, and my hometown became a faint shadow on a photographic negative(那 列直达列车悄悄停运了。 故选 A。
Yet, the journey no longer held the leisurely comfort of childhood it became a long, exhausting journey. We rushed to the airport before daybreak,
weighed down by luggage check-ins. The cramped cabin and turbulent air currents added
discomfort, while navigating the maze-like airport and enduring hours of road travel left us arriving under completely dark skies. There was no time to admire the scenery, let alone the
Holding my hands, my grandparents boarded a
green-skinned train in Hangzhou, which rocked and swayed for twenty-five hours straight to
Ulanqab (乌兰察布市), Inner Mongolia. This is my childhood memory of returning home.(我的祖父母牵着我的手,在杭州登上了一列绿皮火车,火车摇晃了 25 个小时,直达内蒙古乌兰察布。这是我童年回家的记忆)”和倒数第二段“This year, upon hearing that the long-suspended train had resumed operation, an indescribable excitement welled up in my heart. A month ago, I
finally boarded this long-missed train again. As night fell, the train slowly set off. The familiar
voices in the carriage, mingling with the rhythmic clatter of wheels against tracks, blended into a
nostalgic lullaby (怀旧的摇篮曲). Lying on the bunk, I felt the gentle sway of the train, as though cradled in the arms of Mother Earth...Years have blurred the details of my memory, and I have
sketched it one by one with my imagination.(今年,当我听到停运已久的火车恢复运行的消息时,一种说不出的兴奋涌上心头。

The study used a data set of 1,600 reviews of Chicago hotels. Some of them were real; others were fake. The reviews were presented to 400 subjects. Each
subject got eight reviews to read: a balanced set of two positive fake, two positive real, two
negative fake and two negative real, presented in a random order. The reviews were written by
real people who were given information about the hotel.(该研究使用了芝加哥酒店的 1600 条评论作为数据集,其中一些是真实的,另一些是虚假的。
根据第四段中的“A lengthy, positive review, on the other hand, was regarded as suspicious, and participants tended to trust writers that kept their glowing reviews short.(另一方面,冗长的好评被认为是可疑的,受试者往往更信任那些保持 glowing 评论简短的作者。)”
A long, negative review of a hotel, complete with lots of
information, tended to convince participants.(一条包含大量信息的冗长酒店差评,往往更能让受试者信服。)”和“The more dispassionate that negative write-up, the more likely it was to take the reader in.(负面评论越冷静客观,就越有可能让读者相信。)”
The fake reviews written for Azimi’s study were put
together by humans, but increasingly, fake reviews are being written by AI, which makes them
look more real. Though many companies use algorithms (算法) to weed out fake reviews, Azimi points out that the machines are programmed by humans, and given our limited ability to spot fake reviews, this isn’t a good sign.(为阿齐米的研究撰写的虚假评论是由人类编写的,但如今越来越多的虚假评论由人工智能生成,这使得它们看起来更真实。

Many of us are driven by the unconscious wish that if we could just have the perfect body, the perfect job and the perfect family, then we would be happy. For
that reason, it can be one of the most significant barriers to happiness in life.
The psychoanalyst Donald Winnicott wrote about the
importance of the “good enough mother” who meets her baby’s needs timely, but is not perfect.
He said perfect is harmful. To meet every desire immediately, to pass the toy straight away
whenever it is demanded slows down a baby’s growth, robbing them of the opportunity to feel
frustrated and learn to crawl to get the toy for themselves.
How can you be a good partner if you expect everyone else to fit your own narrow expectations How can your child grow if they sense that they always need to
color precisely inside the lines you’ve drawn out for them
通读全文,结合最后一段中“We need to learn to appreciate their humanity and beauty…So for a more delicious life, and ultimately a better one, I choose imperfectionism.

36 .上文“Learning frustration refers to the emotional response students have when they are faced with tough academic tasks, often leading to stress, avoidance, or negative self-talk.(学习挫败感指的是学生在面对艰巨学业任务时的情绪反应,常常导致压力、逃避或消极的自我对话)”给出了学习挫败感的定义及其负面影响,G 选项“However, with proper strategies, it can be
transformed into a powerful motivator (然而,通过合适的策略,它可以转化为强大的动力)”与上文构成转折关系,指出这种负面情绪可以通过策略转化为积极动力,其中“it”指代上文的“Learning frustration” ;下文“Let’s explore how to help students push past learning barriers and come out stronger.(让我们探讨如何帮助学生突破学习障碍,变得更强大)”中的“explore how”与 G 选项中的“with proper strategies”相呼应,共同引出下文的具体策略。
37.上文“The first step in overcoming frustration is acknowledging that struggle is normal — and valuable.
encountering obstacles is often when the deepest learning happens.(事实上,遇到障碍往往是最深刻的学习发生的时候)”进一步说明困难的价值,与 D 选项共同构成对“struggle is valuable”的论证,上下文语意连贯。
“Help students learn to cope with one piece at a time (帮助学生学会一次处理一部分)”承接上文,给出了解决这种无力感的具体方法——将大任务分解为小部分逐一应对;下文“For example, instead of tackling an entire essay at once, start with brainstorming ideas or outlining a single
When students hit a barrier, they may often get stuck on the idea of having to get it “right.” But learning is about experimenting, making
mistakes, and adjusting. Encourage students to try different approaches and celebrate effort, even
when the answer isn’t perfect.(当学生遇到障碍时,他们常常纠结于必须把事情做“对” 的想法。
40 .上文“By setting achievable goals, students can experience frequent “wins” that remind them of their capabilities.(通过设定可实现的目标,学生可以频繁体验“胜利”,这能提醒他们自己的能力)”指出获得小胜利对建立自信的作用,F 选项“These small victories add up, shifting their mindset from “I can’t” to “I can” (这些小胜利会累积起来,将他们的心态从“我做不到”转变为“我能行”)”承接上文,进一步说明这些小胜利的累积效应,其中“These small victories”指代上文中“frequent “wins””,上下文逻辑一致。

此处为固定搭配 at a/an...rate ,意为“ 以 的速度” ;alarming以元音音素开头,填不定冠词 an。

Mira looked across the beach at her house. What came into her sight was her mother, sitting on the porch rocking her baby sister. Accompanying her was his father drinking lemonade. Mira
could see them clearly because her house had two bright lights that lit up the front yard of the
house. Suddenly it clicked. Mira shouted to them at the top of her voice, “Turn off the lights
please!” But they failed to hear, so she began to run. She raced to her house with only one thought “Turn off the lights”. She tripped and fell, but without delay she picked herself up and continued running until she reached the house.
Upon arrival, she shouted, “The turtles are hatching! We have to help them!” With that,
Mira dashed into the house and turned off the bright porch lights. Her parents were a little bit
confused. However, after Mira explained what had happened, they jumped into action as well.
They hurriedly rushed to their neighbors and asked them to turn off their lights. Meanwhile, Mira was off running towards the sea again. She reached the beach just in time to see the tiny turtles slipping silently into the waves. As the last turtle swam away, it seemed to have looked back at Mira. In the moonlight, Mira thought she saw it smile. Now Mira could picture all the small turtles swimming happily in the ocean.
