Every day, the little prince told me about his planet and travels. He shared slowly as ideas came.
On the third day, he told me about the 106 problem with baobab trees He asked me, sounding worried, “Sheep eat bushes (灌木), right ”
“Yes, they do,” I said. “Ah! Good!” he replied. I didn’t understand why this 107 . He asked, “So they eat baobabs too ”
I explained that baobabs were 108 trees instead of little bushes! Even many elephants together couldn’t eat one baobab.
But then he said something wise, “ 109 they grow so big, the baobabs start out by being little.”
“That’s true,” I 110 . “But why do you want sheep to eat little baobabs ”
“Oh,please!” he answered, as if it was easy. I had to think hard to 111 . On his planet, there are good plants and bad plants. Good plants come from good seeds (种子), bad plants from bad seeds. Seeds are hidden, sleeping in the ground until 112 . Then, a little plant grows towards the sun. If it’s a nice plant like a rose, you let it grow. But if it’s a bad plant, you must 113 it up.
The little prince’s planet had many bad seeds: baobab seeds. The ground was 114 of them. If you don’t dig out a small baobab 115 , it becomes hard later. If the planet is small and has too many 116 , they can break it apart!
“It’s about 117 ,” the little prince told me later. “I made them myself and followed them 118 . After I wash myself in the morning, I must carefully ‘wash’ my planet. I must pull out the little baobabs as soon as I see them.”
One day he said, “Sometimes it’s okay to put off work. But with baobabs, waiting means 119 . I knew a lazy man on a planet. He paid no attention to three little bushes…”
So, I drew that planet as he described. I don’t like giving lessons, but the danger of baobabs is not well 120 . Not many people have heard of that as far as I know. So I will say clearly, “Children, watch out for the baobabs!”

Have you ever read the book Pippi Longstocking It is a widely beloved work of children’s literature. It has been 121 into 70 languages. It’s a fun story about a naughty (淘气的) girl. Swedish 122 Astrid Lindgren wrote it. 2025 marks the book’s 80th birthday.
To many children’s surprise, Pippi Longstocking was named by the writer’s daughter Karin, who asked her mother for a get-well story when she was 123 and off school.
Pippi Longstocking is quite a thick book. But once you start, you can’t put it down. Pippi is an orphan (孤儿). She lives 124 in a house called Villa Villekulla. To kids, she is a great 125 of strength and independence (独立). She doesn’t follow any rules, she doesn’t go to school, and she lives with a horse and a monkey. She cooks, cleans and 126 her money. She is so strong that she can even lift her own horse!
In one chapter (章节), Pippi’s friends, Tommy and Annika, ask her to try going to school for a day. It doesn’t go well. Pippi doesn’t know how to do basic math, and when it is time to 127 , she makes a huge picture of her horse on the floor because a piece of paper isn’t big 128 .
Even though Pippi is a bit crazy and very different, children still like how Tommy and Annika accept her and want to join her on her 129 . They show that true friendship grows on respect (尊重) and shared joy. The book is also a call to accept your differences. For anyone feeling worried about being themselves, Pippi’s world tells us that creativity and kindness are more 130 than fitting in (合群).

I started to read it 133 . I finished it in two days. I have 134 read it three times. Each time I read it, I get new feelings. The writer’s words are simple but 135 . They make me think about life and how to treat others kindly.

One day, I hope to write a book of my own. I want to 139 my stories to the world, just like the writers of my favorite books. I know it will not be easy, but I will never 140 . Reading gives me the courage to achieve my dream.

“It might be the 148 library in the world,” said Xu. “But in another sense, it’s also the biggest because the books keep moving. I don’t even know where some of them have ended up.”
Xu recalled the 149 of one reader who borrowed an English book on Chinese garden history. Later, the reader naturally passed it to a neighbour, who took it to Germany. “Just imagine it: that book started out from a small hutong, and 150 all the way to Europe. It’s the most meaningful thing Xu has done for society. He will pass the library on so that it can help prevent reading from disappearing to some degree.

根据后文“as if it were a real boy”可知雕刻的是男孩外形。

It’s a poem.”
send sth. to sb.
The White Rabbit read the poem.)

国王问陪审团裁决是什么,王后打断说“The sentence first—then the verdict!”
