当动词不定式、动词-ing形式或从句在某个句子中作宾语时,为
了保持句子的结构平衡,常用it作形式宾语,而将真正的宾语放到句
子后面。

1. it 作形式宾语的用法
it作形式宾语代替动词不定式。
常用动词不定式作真正宾语的句型:
动词+it+形容词/名词+(for sb to do sth)
We find it essential for humanity to live in harmony with nature.我们发现人类与自然和谐共处是至关重要的。
Many young people consider it their responsibility to reduce the impact of human activities on the environment.
许多年轻人认为减少人类活动对环境的影响是他们(自己)的责任。
2. it作形式宾语的三种情况
2. it作形式宾语代替动词-ing形式。
常用动词-ing形式作真正宾语的句型:
动词+it+no good/no use/no value/a waste of time/hard work/worthwhile+doing sth
Many people think it no use complaining about environmental problems without taking action.
许多人认为只抱怨环境问题而不采取行动是没用的。
We believe it worthwhile making small changes in daily life to protect the planet.
我们相信在日常生活中做出小小的改变来保护地球是值得的。
3. it作形式宾语代替从句。
(1)it代替that引导的宾语从句。
Scientists have made it clear that the balance of nature is more delicate than we once believed.
科学家已经明确指出自然界的平衡比我们曾经以为的更加脆弱。
注意
上述句中it后面需要有名词或形容词作宾语补足语。
(2)it用在hate, like, dislike, can’t bear, can’t stand,
appreciate等之后,代替when/if引导的宾语从句。
I hate it when he talks with his mouth full.
我讨厌他嘴里塞满了东西跟人说话。
I like it when a book is so good that you cannot put it down.
我喜欢那种一本书好得让人爱不释手的感觉。
He will appreciate it if they assist him to tackle the problem.
如果他们帮他解决这个难题,他将非常感激。
(3)一些“动词+介词”构成的短语,如:depend on,rely on,see
to,stick to,take ...for granted,owe ...to sb等常先接it,再接
that 引导的从句。
Would you see to it that she gets home early?
你负责保证她早到家,好吗?
You can’t depend on it that he will keep his promise that he will
mount the top of the mountain.
你不能指望他会遵守他登上山顶的诺言。
He owes it to his friend’s help that he has made great progress in
English.
