小作文
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am Li Jin, a Grade 11 student from Chenguang High School. Learning that our library is establishing a
Reading Salon and recruiting hosts, I am writing to apply for this position.
In my opinion, starting a Reading Salon is a fantastic idea. It encourages students to read more and provides a
platform to share thoughts and ideas. Such an activity will certainly enrich our campus life and promote a love for
literature. I believe I am qualified for the role. First, I am an enthusiastic reader with broad knowledge in different
fields, which enables me to join in various discussions. Second, I have experience hosting school events and class
meetings, so I am confident in my public speaking and communication skills. I can also engage the audience and
keep conversations lively and focused.
I would be honored to serve as the host of the Reading Salon. I am ready to contribute my time and passion to make
it a success. Thank you for considering my application.
Yours,
Li Jin
大作文
A few days later, I visited him again with my guitar. I knocked on his door, feeling a little nervous. When he
opened it and saw the guitar, his eyes widened with interest. I asked if he would like to hear me play something. He
nodded and gestured for me to sit down. I played a simple folk song I had learned years ago. When I finished, he
clapped softly and said, “Your music is lovely.” Then, he went to his corner, picked up his violin, and played a
short, sweet melody in return. It was his way of saying he accepted me. From that moment, our unspoken bond
grew stronger.
From that day on, we began to spend time together. He told me he was a former violinist in the city orchestra.
After his wife passed away, he moved here and rarely went out. Music was his only comfort. Sometimes, we would
try to play together, the guitar and the violin finding a common tune. It wasn’t always perfect, but it was always
joyful. We didn’t talk much. Our conversations were in the notes we played. We shared our sadness and our
happiness through the music. He was no longer just my neighbor; he was my teacher and my friend.六安二中河西校区 2026年春学期高二年级期中考试

When Lin Qiao graduated from China Agricultural University in 2023, most of her classmates competed for
well-paid jobs in big cities like Beijing and Shanghai. But the 24-year-old made an unexpected choice: she returned
to her remote mountain village in the Qinling Mountains, to launch an organic farming project.
Lin’s village sits on the hillside, with terraces (梯田) that had been abandoned for years. Local villagers used to
grow corn with chemical fertilizers and pesticides (农药 ), but the income was low, and the soil had been badly
degraded. When Lin said she wanted to grow organic kiwifruit without any chemicals, nearly all villagers doubted
her. “They said I was wasting my college degree, and that the ‘fancy ideas’ would never work in the mountains,”
Lin recalled.
With no initial support, Lin rented 20 acres of abandoned terraces, learned organic planting skills from her
former university tutors, and worked in the fields every day. She used fallen leaves to make natural fertilizer, and
built small water-saving irrigation systems to protect local water resources. Two years later, her kiwifruit trees bore
fruit, and the products sold well online at twice the price of ordinary kiwifruit.
Seeing Lin’s success, villagers began to follow her. She taught them organic planting skills for free, helped
them set up online shops, and even built a small study center for local teenagers to learn about ecological
protection. By late 2025, over 40 families in the village had joined her project, and the village’s per capita income
had doubled.
“Rural vitalization (振兴) isn’t just about new roads or buildings. It’s about giving young people a reason to
come home, to make our mountains greener and our villagers richer at the same time,” Lin told Reuters.
24. Why did Lin Qiao return to her hometown
A. To start an organic farming project
B. To look after her elderly parents
C. To teach at the local village school
D. To take a well-paid local job
25. What challenge did Lin Qiao face at first
A. Shortage of online sales channels B. Lack of professional planting skills
C. No support from her university tutors D. Local villagers’ disbelief in her plan
26. What made Lin’s kiwifruit popular online
A. Villagers’ nationwide promotion B. Its chemical-free organic quality
C. The university’s advertising help D. Its lower price than ordinary kiwifruit
27. What can we infer from Lin Qiao’s story
A. College graduates can only succeed in rural areas
B. Organic farming is the best choice for China’s agriculture
C. Young people can play a key role in rural development
D. Online sales are the only way to increase villagers’ income
C
When we are healthy, breathing happens naturally and easily. Without much effort on our part, the human
respiratory (呼吸的) system works hard. Experts say we take about 20, 000 breaths every day.
When you breathe deeply, the air coming in through your nose fully fills your lungs, and the lower belly (腹部)
rises. Deep breathing may slow the heartbeat, lower blood pressure and lower stress. Deep breaths help your body
fully exchange incoming oxygen with outgoing carbon dioxide.
However, many people do the opposite of deep breathing. They take short breaths and have shallow breathing.
Experts call this “chest breathing”. Shallow breathing limits the expansion (扩张) of the diaphragm (隔膜) and its
movement. The lowest part of the lungs does not get a full share of fresh air. This can make you feel short of breath
and worried, or anxious.
Shallow breathing, over time, leaves old, unfresh air in the lungs. This leaves less room for the diaphragm to
bring in fresh oxygen. And that means lower oxygen levels and less oxygen for exercise and activity.
Several health websites explain an easy deep breathing exercise. Find a place to lie down. Place one hand just
below your ribs (肋骨). Take a slow, deep breath through your nose. Feel your hand go up. Your stomach should
rise and expand. Now breathe out slowly through your mouth. Make sure to breathe out all the way. Feel your hand
and stomach go down.
If done repeatedly, breathing exercises can help remove unfresh air from the lungs. This will increase oxygen
levels and get the diaphragm to return to its job of helping you breathe. Deep breathing is a good way to reduce
stress and relax.
Shortness of breath happens when you are worried, frightened, or are in poor physical shape. But it can also be
a
sign of health problems.
28. What is the harm of chest breathing
A. It makes the body take in more oxygen.
B. It allows the diaphragm to move freely.
C. It speeds up the exchange of oxygen and CO2.
D. It cuts down oxygen supply and brings discomfort.
29. What is paragraph 5 mainly about
A. Benefits of deep breathing.
B. Problems caused by shallow breathing.
C. Steps to perform a deep breathing exercise.
D. Reasons why people feel short of breath.
30. Why might shortness of breath be a serious concern
A. It can be a sign of a potential health problem.
B. It always indicates someone is very frightened.
C. It proves the person is not breathing deeply enough.
D. It happens only to those in poor physical condition.
31. Which could be a suitable title for the text
A. Shallow Breathing and Its Harms B. Deep Breathing: Benefits and Practice
C. How to Control Your Breathing Rate D. The Dangers of Shortness of Breath
D
Contagious yawning (传染性哈欠 ) has long been seen in warm-blooded animals: besides us, they include
chimps, lions and wolves. But Elisabetta Palagi, a scientist from the University of Pisa, says it has been proven in a
cold-blooded species for the first time.
Palagi and her team set out to confirm if fish yawn and if it’s contagious. They chose zebrafish, a common
freshwater fish, raised at home, and observed 18 zebrafish in the lab. The fish usually breathed by quickly opening
and closing their mouth, but sometimes they opened their mouth slowly. They also stretched (使变大) it wide and
then closed it suddenly. This seemed to mimic what scientists usually describe in other animals as yawning.
The researchers noted many differences between a fish’s normal breathing and a yawn. For example, the fish
opened their mouth wider during a yawn than when simply breathing. And about half the time, a yawning fish also
stretched its body. This is “very interesting,” Palagi says, and something “we did not expect to find”.
The team trained an AI model to recognize these yawning features. After feeding it video screenshots (屏幕截
图), the AI could tell yawns from normal breathing, just like the researchers. Next, they showed zebrafish two types
of videos: one of a yawning zebrafish and the other of one breathing normally.
Tested many times on many fish, the results showed fish were more than twice as likely to yawn when
watching yawning videos — proving contagious yawning. Also, lab fish that yawned in response often changed
swimming direction; since wild zebrafish swim in large groups, researchers think this helps them coordinate (协调)
their movements.
Not everyone is buying it. Cait Newport, a biologist from the University of Oxford, says that it’s still unclear
why fish would yawn together. She notes the directional change doesn’t prove that fish in the wild would use
yawning to coordinate their movements. Noam Miller, a psychologist at Canada’s Wilfrid Laurier University,
points out that we need to know if fish yawn contagiously for the same reasons as warm-blooded animals.
Palagi says why animals yawn is still an open question, but zebrafish are perfect for further study. “This study
opens the floodgates for many more studies to come.”
32. What does the underlined word “mimic” in paragraph 2 probably mean
A. Look like. B. Speed. C. Point out. D. Hide.
33. What did the researchers need to do during the study
A. Tell zebrafish’s yawns from their normal breathing.
B. Compare home-raised zebrafish to wild zebrafish.
C. Let zebrafish see some videos of human yawning.
D. Use an AI model to control videos of zebrafish.
34. What did the researchers find
A. Wild zebrafish changed direction after yawning.
B. Zebrafish yawned more than warm-blooded species.
C. Zebrafish yawned when seeing other fish yawn in videos.
D. Contagious yawning helped zebrafish find food in groups.
35. What is Cait Newport’s attitude towards the research
A. Curious. B. Doubtful. C. Positive. D. Unclear.

Guide for Teenagers
The teenage years can be tough, and it’s normal to feel sad every now and then. But if these feelings don’t go
away or become so intense that you can’t handle them, you may be suffering from depression. 36
Try not to isolate yourself
When you’re depressed, you may not feel like seeing anybody or doing anything. If you just stay in bed all day
and isolate yourself, you will feel more depressed. 37 Thus, please spend more time with friends, especially
those who are active.
Keep your body healthy
Making healthy lifestyle choices can do wonders for your mood. Ever heard of a “runner’s high” Physical
activity can be as effective as medications for depression, so get involved in sports, ride your bike, or take a dance
class. Any activity helps! 38 As for food, make sure you’re feeding your mind with plenty of fruits, vegetables,
and whole grains.
Avoid alcohol and drugs
You maybe try drinking or use drugs in an effort to escape from your feelings and get a “mood boost”, even if
just for a short time. However substance use can not only make depression worse, but can cause you to become
more depressed. 39 You will need special treatment for your substance problem.
40
Stress and worry can lead to depression. Talk to a teacher if exams or classes seem overwhelming. In addition,
if you have a health concern you feel you can’t talk to your parents about, see a doctor. A health professional can
help you approach your parents and guide you toward appropriate treatment. If you’re dealing with relationship,
friendship, or family problems, talk to an adult you trust.
A. Ask for help if you are stressed.
B. But as you get out into the world, you may find yourself feeling better.
C. Turn to your parents for help.
D. Even a short walk can be beneficial.
E. In short, drinking and taking drugs will make you feel worse-not better-in the long run.
F. The more exercise you do, the healthier you will be.
G. Help is available and you have more power than you think.

At the 2026 Spring Festival Gala, Ode to the Flower Gods (贺花神 ) caught millions attention. The show
brought viewers into a world 41 ancient mythology and advanced technology meet.
The inspiration came from a national treasure — the White Jade Twelve-Month Pendants Set (白玉十二月花
神佩), preserved in the Forbidden City. This wonderful artwork, 42 with twelve flowers, became the foundation
for the production. Each flower was paired with a historical 43 connected to that bloom.
The selection process was careful. Researchers dug 44 into classical texts to find real connections. The poet
Lu Guimeng, known for his 45 of chrysanthemums (菊花), became the flower god for the ninth month. Zhang
Qian, who brought pomegranates (石榴 ) to China, was honored as the pomegranate flower god. Every 46
respected historical truth.
What made the show special was its use of AI. An AIGC system helped 47 the limits of the physical stage.
Performers walked through bamboo forests one moment and floated among clouds the next and 48 by AI
environments responding to their movements.
The performers faced a tough task: they had to 49 their characters’ spirit without speaking. Every gesture
was carefully designed. Months of training 50 they could convey emotion through body language alone.
Costume designers studied ancient paintings to ensure 51 . The result was stunning — flowing robes,
delicate ornaments, and makeup that 52 each flower’s beauty while staying true to history.
Behind the scenes, technicians worked tirelessly. The mix of live performance and AI visuals required 53
timing. Even one second of delay could break the magic.
After the show, social media erupted with praise. Viewers called it “a poem brought to life.” For many young
people, it was their first 54 with traditional culture in such an accessible form.

still speak to modern hearts through innovation and art.

第二节(共 10小题;每小题 1.5分,满分 15分)
阅读下面短文,在空白处填入 1个适当的单词或括号内单词的正确形式。
The heartwarming phrase “Love you, good old self” 56 (sweep) across Chinese social media since late
2025, drawing widespread attention. 57 (It) popularity has led people to refer to themselves as “Old Self”,
58 friendly nickname that allows one to step back and speak to oneself with the kindness usually reserved for a
close friend. By addressing oneself as an “old friend,” young people 59 (gentle) remind themselves to pause
and practice self-kindness in daily life.
This expression 60 (include) in the “Top 10 Internet Buzzwords of 2025” released last month. Researchers
interpret it as a response 61 the intense pressures facing today’s youth.
Professor Liu Haihua from Peking University explains that the core lies not in escaping challenges, 62 in
building inner strength through small acts of kindness. Young people have realized what they truly need is
self-approval. This trend represents a healthy psychological turn 63 (root) in the embrace of our own emotional
state.
From the earlier “Sang culture”, 64 was a trending word to reflect a lack of self-motivation felt by Chinese
young people, to “Buddha-like youth,” then to “lying flat,” and now to “love you, good old self,” the world is
witnessing a grand emotional reconciliation among Chinese youth who find 65 (relieve) in digital spaces.
Chinese young people not only engage in self-healing by creating and spreading memes like “love you, good old
self,” but they also form new emotional support networks.

I loved music. Every day after work, I would put on my earphones and lose myself in songs. I had played the
guitar for years, though I was no expert. It was simply my way to relax. So, when I moved into the new apartment,
I brought my guitar and my love for music with me.
For the first few weeks, the apartment next door remained silent. I knew someone lived there, but I never saw
the person. The door was always closed. Then, one quiet afternoon, while I was reading, I heard a sound. It was so
faint that I held my breath to catch it. It was from a violin. The music was low and slow, each note seeming to carry
a weight of years, like someone telling a sad, beautiful story without words. I put down my book and listened. The
melody seemed to be filled with loneliness and memories, and I felt a strange ache in my heart.
The next day, I heard it again. This time, I felt a strong pull. I walked to his door and knocked softly. The
music stopped. My heart beat faster. After a long moment, the door opened a little. An old man with silver hair
looked at me. He said nothing. Feeling a bit awkward, I smiled and said, “Hello, I’m your neighbor. I heard you
playing the violin. It was incredibly beautiful. I play the guitar a little bit, I just wanted to say hello.” He looked at
me for a while, and then a smile appeared on his face.
He opened the door wider and invited me in. I stepped inside, noticing a worn armchair by the window and the
smell of old books. His home was simple, filled with books and old photos. In the corner stood a music stand. Next
to it was a small table with a photo of a woman, smiling gently. That first meeting was short, but it was the
beginning of our friendship. As I turned to leave, he said softly, “Thank you for listening.” Those simple words
warmed my heart. I knew we would become friends.
