Have you heard of “AI self-study rooms” It is a new business model in education, which has recently
appeared in China. It is getting more and more attention, but people hold different opinions about it.
AI self-study rooms bring together AI learning tools, study monitors (监控) and a good learning
environment. Students take online classes and do exercises with learning machines. At the same time,
monitors help keep order. They also use AI to find students’ weak points and make personalized study plans
for them.
A parent told Global Times that AI learning machines are more interactive than common online courses.
They can analyze students’ learning and give them proper and challenging questions to reach their learning
goals. “Now, students in the countryside can do virtual (虚拟的) biology experiments through AI self-study
rooms. This was impossible before because of limited local resources,” said a teacher from Qinghai.
Some people praise AI self-study rooms for their advantages, but others think they are just for show.
Some students say some AI learning machines are not smart enough. They cannot teach students in different
ways and only give mechanical practice. Their updates are slow, and their fixed question banks often have
mistakes, which may mislead students.
As for the price, it costs 200 yuan per hour on weekends and it is 20% off on weekdays. “We can’t
afford this service. We have to think carefully about whether the price is worth the learning effect,” a parent
from Jiangsu told Global Times.
“I believe AI is helpful to education. But as a new business, AI self-study rooms still face problems,
such as poor integration (融合) and unbalanced quality. With continuous technology development, AI
learning will become more important in the future,” said Professor Huang from the Beijing Academy of
Social Sciences.
46. How does the writer introduce the topic
A. By telling a story. B. By showing a fact. C. By asking a question.
47. What can we learn about AI self-study rooms according to the passage
A. Only AI learning tools can be used in the rooms.
B. Monitors can use AI to make personal study plans for students.
7
C. Rural students can do more real experiments than before.
48. How much will you spend studying in AI self-study rooms for 2 hours on Friday
A. 160 yuan. B. 400 yuan. C. 320 yuan.
49. What is Professor Huang’s attitude toward AI learning
A. He is against it. B. He is hopeful about it. C. He doesn’t care about it.
50. What is the best title of this passage
A. AI Self-Study Rooms: Good or Bad B. A New Model: AI Self-Study Rooms
C. AI Learning for Rural Students

painful sharpening (削尖). That is what you’ve had this week,” he said. “From now on, instead of leaving

三.阅读填空(共 5小题,每小题 2分,满分 10分)
阅读下面短文,然后在文后表格内完成内容摘要,每空一词
When we shop at a supermarket, we often buy more than we need. This may not be our fault—
supermarkets control the way we shop. Every detail is planned. The walkways, music, lights, and
advertisements all encourage us to spend more money.
From the moment we enter, the design of a supermarket controls the way we experience the store.
Usually, there is one entrance and one exit (出口). Fruits, vegetables, and bread are near the entrance. Fresh
vegetables and the smell of bread make the store appear fresh and attractive. This makes us feel good and
want to buy more.
10
In addition, we often walk through the whole store to find what we need. Milk and eggs are usually at
the back. Popular products are in the middle. Expensive ones are at eye level for easy reach, while cheaper
goods are on lower shelves, requiring us to bend down. The payment area is usually at the exit. In this way,
we see more food and spend more.
Supermarkets use other means to influence shopping, too. Slow music makes people shop more slowly
and spend more. In a study, shoppers spent 38% more when slow music was played instead of fast music.
Most stores also have no clocks or windows, so we lose track of time and stay longer.
So how can we avoid buying too much First, make a shopping list and only buy what is on it. Second,
shop less often—plan meals for several days and shop once or twice a week. Lastly, do not shop when you
are hungry, because everything looks delicious then.
